The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 456: Little girl (1)
Chapter 456: Little girl (1)
"First, you spent the days before she came home sulking and now I am listening to you humming a tune early in the morning. I was also surprised to see you come here instead of going to sleep around the knights or spy on our daughter. Are you ill?" Celine asked, touching Phillip’s forehead to check if they needed to call for the doctor.
"I am fine. I didn’t need to keep an eye on the knights when it was Rafael that I was watching. As you said, I need to give the two some space and they are engaged with a home of their own. I am getting used to not seeing her often and that she wants to be with that man. I’m taking care of breakfast for her friends," said Phillip.
"I see that. I also see the basket of food you are putting together. It is filled with things that Annalise likes and a few that I enjoy. What are you up to Phillip?" Celine asked as Phillip was acting too suspicious right now. "You came home smiling when I expected you to cry about her engagement. There has to be more than the engagement you know about. Is she pregnant? No, she would come to me first."
Phillip turned to Celine, offended that she thought Annalise wouldn’t come to him first. "Why wouldn’t she come to me? I am easy to talk to. I was around when you had all your women talk with her."
"If you could kill her husband-to-be, you would. It’s just normal. She either comes to me first or she tells both of us at the same time. I’m the one who is fine with all the changes in her life now tell me what puts you in a good mood. I hope the girls didn’t hear us last night," Celine said, palming her cheeks.
"They didn’t because I saw two of them sneaking out of the house. There’s no questioning if they are Annalise’s friends. I feel like I have three more girls around that I need to parent. At least one of them knew to stay home," Phillip said, proud of Giselle. The other two needed a talking to so they wouldn’t come back with a man by their sides.
"Oh, leave them. They’re having fun. I can’t imagine how many rules they need to follow at home. Not having a say in who they wanted to marry. If my father ever tried to force me to marry, my mother would have hit him with anything she could get her hands on," Celine said, picking up the plates filled with food to carry them to the table.
"Your mother always was ready to attack anyone over you. I still remember the threats I got from her. To not hurt you or die early to leave you raising a child alone. I’m glad she doesn’t come to visit us a lot with your father," said Phillip.
"They’ll be here when Annalise gets married. All of our family will be and everyone will travel to witness the wedding. It’ll be good to see everyone. I can hardly wait for the time to come. When do you think those two will come so I can celebrate with them? Rafael came by early for some clothes for Annalise," Celine said, failing to notice how Phillip’s mood changed.
"I’m going to help them by packing up Annalise’s things to send there. I have a few things belonging to her stored away that they could decorate with. A few toys that might still be good to give to their daughter. I cannot believe they are making me a grandmother so soon," Celine said, touching her face once more to feel if it was changing.
"My efforts to keep them apart to avoid us becoming grandparents would have been useless. I’m a bit eager to meet the child that Annalise wants to adopt. The reason I am so happy this morning is because Annalise said she wants to spend time with me. Like we used to. I am just waiting for her to arrive," Phillip explained his happiness.
He kept looking over his shoulder to the front door to try spotting when Annalise would arrive.
"I see. Since you packed food that I like, does that mean I am invited or did you pack those foods as a backup for if I forced my way into your father-daughter day?" Celine questioned as it was quite late to be telling her about these plans.
Celine already had plans to pull out Annalise’s old things to see what was in good condition and help move things out of her old bedroom.
"She only mentioned wanting to be with me today, but I packed some food for if you wanted to join us. You can," Phillip said, genuinely not minding if Celine tagged along. They were in need of a family day with just the three of them. Four with his mother who needed to come out of her home and stop hiding from others.
Celine thought it was sweet that he wanted to include her on his special day, but knowing how Phillip was finding it hard to come to terms with Annalise growing up, this must be a day for him to see that nothing was changing.
"The two of you should go by yourselves. I will invite Rafael to stay here so I can continue to know about his life. I want to know about his parents and his life as a knight. I’ll have a nice mother and son-in-law day. I’ll invite Celeste since she’s in need of a nice day outside," Celine decided.
"Good morning," Siena greeted the two as she walked into the dining room.
"Good morning. Did you sleep well last night?" Celine asked, curious about if Siena was one of the girls Phillip saw leaving.
Siena smiled as she had more than a good night. "I did. The others will be down shortly."
’Good. You should all be here for when Annalise comes to tell us the good news about her engagement-"
"They are getting married?!" Siena exclaimed, her eyes widening as the news fully woke her up. She covered her mouth with her right hand as she regretted being loud. "That was why they were so odd last night."
"Who was odd dear?" Celine asked, enjoying the awkward smile Siena wore. This was new because Annalise’s time for sneaking out only consisted of her running away. Other times, Annalise always told them where she was going or told Celeste instead of them if she was going somewhere dangerous.
"I am fine with you going out to see your friends in the knights, but please give us a nice notice so I don’t go checking on you in the midst of the night and worry about where you are," said Celine.
’Who went to see the knights in the middle of the night?" Giselle questioned, rubbing her eyes as she entered the room. It couldn’t be that they went somewhere and didn’t wake her.
Celine shared a look with Siena, now knowing which two had snuck out.
A knock on the door saved Siena from having to share what she and Heidi did last night.
"I’ll get it," Phillip announced, walking faster than Siena who was already going to the door.
"Stay out of his way today girls. He’ll knock you over accidentally because he’s excited for his time out with Annalise," Celine said, shaking her head at Phillip.
