The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 442: Circle (2)
Chapter 442: Circle (2)
"Did you get it all out?" Annalise asked, taking a seat beside Siena.
"Yes. I might have overdone it today and scared the others," Siena answered, taking a rest after hours of running around. She sat picking off any grass that stuck to her and trying to wipe off dirt.
"You did surprise them at first, but they have gotten used to it. You are having fun not having anyone around to tell you what to do. Whatever you wish to do, do it. Unless it will be something to leave you severely hurt," Annalise advised Siena. "We need to get you used to small bruises first."
"Good because there were a few times I thought that I was going to break something so I had to ignore my sudden rush to do things. It is all out of my body and now I am back to normal. No more rolling down hills," Siena said, too sore to do it again. "But it was fun. I’m jealous you gotta do it a lot in your youth."
"Hearing that you never got to do it makes me appreciate it more," said Annalise.
"I didn’t get to do things like roll down a hill, but I wouldn’t say my childhood was all bad. My parents were a little easy on me then because I was a child. They used to let me go swimming when I was younger, but I had no use for it as I got older. Maybe if there were more children around they would have let me play a little more as I got older," Siena said, trying to see the positive.
"One day you can have a talk with them about how you grew up. With a little time apart, they might be willing to let you do as you want as long as you still speak to them. Your story doesn’t need to end as Beatrice’s did with her no longer speaking to her family. You can try speaking to them and if it doesn’t work, you’ll have a new family here," Annalise said, watching the others get cleaned up with water from a barrel.
"It’ll be a strange family that cannot compare to the one you currently have, but it will be better than nothing. I am going to have faith that your parents aren’t going to be forever angry with your decision to leave after what happened to Travis. You deserve time to yourself after having to live with that man," said Annalise.
"I like that you are the positive one between us. I know my father so I know he wouldn’t be pleased that my first thought wasn’t to return home to him. He might not know about you yet so he might think I fell in love with Rafael and ran off. I don’t know if Kayla will tell him everything that happened. I am yet to receive a letter from her," Siena said, worried about her friendship.
"You are far away from the manor. Maybe all the letters you want came after you left so to get them, you would have to return with the knights. Everyone will be going away," Annalise said, realising that soon she wouldn’t be left with anyone she came here with.
This day was already coming to an end.
When Rafael would return after her trip there wouldn’t be any knights or her friends around.
Siena looked to her right at Annalise. She planned on staying, but now she was curious about what letters her parents might have sent or what Kayla sent. She couldn’t ask for anyone to go to the manor and come all the way back here just for letters.
"I’m sorry that I may have to go. I wanted to stay with you, but I am curious about what my parents are saying. I might come to regret leaving, but I want to know that there are letters. I need to find out if Kayla made it home safely or if she returned to the manor. How quickly do you think we can get a message to the manor and back?" Siena asked because then she might not have to leave.
"There are messenger birds, but I doubt they will make it to the manor and back before the knights leave. It is also a bit dangerous to send off someone alone. I am fine with you leaving with the orders. Rafael and I will be leaving at the same time to head to the town where we attended the ball-"
"Then, why don’t I return to the manor and head to where you are to return to the border? That town is easier for me to travel to return with you than trying to make my way back to the border alone. You won’t have to come back home alone," Siena said, excited about this plan.
With this, she wouldn’t be away from Annalise too long.
"What if something comes up to keep you at the manor?" Annalise asked.
"Then I will ask a knight to deliver the message to you that I must stay at the manor. If there is nothing to hold me back, I would like to come back here with you. I want to continue feeling free as I do now and the border is the only place to make me feel this way. You must remember that you promised me work," Siena reminded Annalise.
"I did. How could I forget? Then it is settled that you will return with me. Possibly," Annalise added because it wasn’t certain yet.
"Are the two of you making plans together while Giselle and I were washing off? Whatever plans were made, I am a part of them," said Heidi.
"So am I," Giselle said, joining in with Heidi.
"It is about returning here after the knights leave. You need to go back to your uncle, Giselle. You cannot stay here forever and have your family worried. Heidi needs to decide if she wants to stay here to work or go back to the manor. You don’t need to make a rash decision. I will return to the manor at some point and spend time with the three of you," Annalise promised.
The days they would be apart might go by faster than they expected.
"Oh," Giselle said, saddened by the fact she could not stay as long as she wanted. "I did promise my uncle and brother to return as soon as I could. It’ll be no fun for me if Siena and Heidi stay here with you. Who will I spend my days with when I return home? It’s not fair that all the friends I made are here."
"It’s inevitable that you must leave since you promised your uncle. It won’t be long before we see each other again. I will try to visit the manor as often as I can. Why are we already speaking about leaving when we still have some days here? You are all making me want to cry," Annalise confessed, feeling water fill her eyes.
"Well, you can’t say that because then I want to cry," Giselle replied, fanning her face with her hands in an effort to stop her tears. "We should continue our day of fun and not think about anyone leaving yet. Are there any more dangerous games you have to distract us?"
"Of course there are," Annalise answered, wiping her eyes before tears could fall. "We should finish cleaning up and head there before the next place becomes crowded. There is no time for sitting around sad."
"You were the only one to the brink of tears," Siena teased, getting up to join Annalise for a new experience.
