Chapter 438: Grandmother’s help (3)

"That is your loss," Celeste said, happily taking the two cups. What she mixed would help with other things.

"We don’t need your help with whatever you are thinking. Now that I know you are fine, it is time for me and Rafael to leave. I can’t have you scaring him off with more of your...drinks," Annalise stressed the word because she now had an idea of what Celeste offered them.

Was there anyone in her family other than her father not rushing to have her settle down with Rafael?

Rafael wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, desperately wanting the taste of what he drank to go away.

"You can go," Celeste said, not against it because Rafael might feel the need to be closer to Annalise now. He should unless her husband had lied about the drink in the past.

"I have friends I will bring to meet you tomorrow and then I will be with my father before he starts to worry about me leaving him. My mother will come running to tell you that Rafael and I plan to adopt a little girl. Do not tell anyone about it because it is not guaranteed yet. Why are you looking at me like that?" Annalise questioned, suspicious of Celeste’s gaze.

"Since you need to adopt, you should have him drink more," Celeste replied, pushing Rafael’s cup back to him.

It was only now that Rafael had some idea about what Celeste had brought for them to drink. Rafael was offended that Celeste thought he needed help with getting Annalise pregnant/ Help with getting his manhood to work.

That was far from the reason they were going to add Lydia to their family, but it still concerned him that Celeste prepared the drink before knowing about adopting.

Rafael had never felt more awkward than he was now sitting before Celeste who thought he was sleeping with Annalise and needed her help. He was lucky to never have his mother do something like this to him.

Annalise smacked her hand onto her face, wanting to take Rafael’s hand to get far away from Celeste. "Why are you doing this to us, grandmother? We are not adopting because we can’t...you know what I mean. Have a child of our own. I care for Lydia."

"Oh, I thought you were trying to speed it up-"

"You were trying to fool us by having us drink whatever this is for," Annalise said, pushing the cup away from Rafael again. "We don’t need anyone’s help and should we ever have a child, it will only be our doing. Think of what is going on inside his head right now. He must feel awkward that you think his sword doesn’t work."

"Sword?" Celeste asked, confused by what Annalise meant.

"Another day I will explain," Annalise lied. "I am leaving before you have Rafael question his life. I will see you tomorrow."

Annalise stood up first, ready to leave before there could be any more gifts to ’help’ her. She was not in a rush to have a child. Her love for Lydia came unexpectedly and wanting to adopt didn’t mean there was something wrong with her or Rafael.

Rafael was quick to join Annalise in getting up so they could leave and be alone again.

"I will always have more should you change your mind." freēwēbnovel.com

"Why is she drinking it?" Annalise muttered, leading Rafael by his hand out of the home. When they exited the front door and walked down the steps, Annalise apologised. "I am sorry you had to be a part of that. I should have known she would try something. Is your manhood wounded?" She asked because of his sad expression.

"I have no problem getting you-"

Annalise lunged forward to cover his mouth with her free hand. "I don’t need to hear you say it. Now grandmother’s plan is starting to work with you wanting to show that you don’t need whatever she put together. Suddenly, my father making us not share a room doesn’t seem so bad."

Rafael removed Annalise’s hand from covering his mouth. "I think it would be fun if we were to share a room. I should have challenged your father for it to happen."

"I am not joining you to prove that my grandmother is wrong. She’s like this each time she goes to my grandfather’s grave. Worrying about us dying and wanting to see her great-grandchildren soon. She will act like this didn’t happen when you see her tomorrow. The soup should be ready," Annalise said, letting go of Rafael’s hand to walk ahead of him.

Just holding hands might be putting all kinds of ideas in his head.

Rafael reached Annalise to walk side by side and held her hand again.

"Did it make you feel the need to touch me? Wait, you have always been this way," Annalise muttered.

"I don’t believe in those drinks," Rafael said, knowing his current attraction to Annalise and wanting to touch her had nothing to do with the small sip he took.

"Normally I wouldn’t believe those drinks do anything, but it is my grandmother. Things always work when she does it. I’m fully convinced that she is one with nature and right now I feel she is spying on us. Maybe I shouldn’t be alone with you tonight," Annalise said, looking down at their hands.

"I thought it was going to be a quiet night of us just talking and then going back to our beds. Is there something else you have planned? A night of making love outside would be fun as long as none of your father’s followers will be close or your father," Rafael said as Phillip interrupting them would be more awkward than sitting before Celeste.

"Don’t even think about it. My father has already informed most of the guards to keep an eye on us. We will just be sitting around talking and then go back to bed. I can take us somewhere where I can lose track of my father’s other eyes. I wonder what it would be like to be naked under the night sky," Annalise said, curious about it now.

There would be two things that she enjoyed present if they were to do it. The beautiful night sky and Rafael.

"I will remember this for our trip to the orphanage," Rafael said, refusing to let this opportunity fly by when Annalise was open to it. He had to cross his fingers and wish that when the time came Annalise would not be against it.

"It is only possible if my father doesn’t try to make us take guards with us. We might need to sneak off like I did with Thomas when I first ran away. I can tell my mother so at least one person knows that we are safe. So far, what do you think? Could you truly see yourself living somewhere like this?" Annalise asked, looking around the town as they walked.

The last time Rafael was here the thought of living here forever didn’t cross his mind. The plan to build a new manor here along with a town came afterward.

"Here is a good place to settle. It is quite peaceful. If not here, after years of serving the king, I might have wandered off somewhere quiet to live. Far away from other people. My mother would have followed with my father. This is better than me going off to be alone. We’ll have our home to close the doors on guests we don’t want. It is the same lengthy trip to visit my friends. I will be fine here," Rafael honestly answered.

"We can also visit the old manor when we want to be away from everyone. Away from him," Annalise said, looking right at her father who awaited them with folded arms.
