The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 407: Future (1)
Chapter 407: Future (1)
Rafael was puzzled by Annalise suddenly kissing him in the middle of the busy market, but he didn’t dare stop the kiss to ask what had gotten into her. It had something to do with the women who would not go on their way and for the first time, Rafael liked that he had been surrounded by women trying to court him because of this outcome.
Rafael only wished that they could vanish to somewhere more private so he could kiss her as he wanted. A moment like that shouldn’t be shared with the people around them. Especially with men now curious about who Annalise was watching them.
There was this strange thing among men to want a woman when she was already claimed by a well-known man.
Annalise stepped back, ending the kiss because it was enough to get the word around. She was not going to show off their kiss to fill the ladies’ heads with fantasies of them being the ones kissed by Rafael.
She looked around to find some faces turning red, some appalled, and others just looking like they couldn’t believe she dared kiss Rafael in the market. Not Rafael, but her. As if it was so bad she would want to kiss the man she was in love with.
Annalise didn’t care how she would be viewed for being the one to initiate a kiss. She was already living with Rafael, sharing a bed with him despite not being married to him. Once the people here came to know that, they would think little of her so why care about what they thought now?
They could think what they wanted about her. Every night she would happily go to bed with Rafael, the man they all wanted. She would take whatever they said about her as their jealousy for not being in her position.
Annalise turned away from the strangers and looked up at Rafael who once again looked satisfied. "We should go," she said, wanting to get away from all the stares now. They were not some drama to entertain random strangers.
Rafael was not interested in running off just because they were being watched or maybe Annalise felt embarrassed now. The trip to the market had turned good and now he was going to enjoy every second of it just as they planned.
"Wasn’t there something here that caught your eye?" Rafael asked, leading Annalise back to the stall she walked away from. It was also a good day to spoil Annalise with the things she liked.
"Yes but-"
"Then we should get it now. Beads," Rafael said, surprised Annalise had been interested in the bracelets. "What colour did you want?"
"The black one," Annalise answered, pointing to the bracelet. It was something she wanted to buy as a gift for her mother and not herself. Her mother would love anything she could wear. "I wanted to buy it for my mother."
"Then you should get the blue and red ones as well. Along with the white one for your grandmother," Rafael said, picking up more bracelets as he went down the line of colours.
Since they were going back to the border after the palace, he should take plenty of gifts since he planned on asking for their permission to wed Annalise.
Rafael knew that no amount of gifts would get Phillip to love him wanting to get married to Annalise so he was going to focus on the women in Annalise’s family. They would deal with Phillip trying to get in the way of the proposal.
Annalise looked at the price of the beads. They were not expensive but she had already sorted her money for what she wanted to buy. Rafael picked up so many bracelets that they were starting to fall out of his hand. "Maybe one for each is enough," she said.
"If they like it, they will want one for more than one dress. We’ll take all of these bracelets," Rafael said, handing the bracelets back to the stall owner for them to be carefully packed up. He then placed his hand in his pocket to get a few coins to pay.
Annalise was also looking for the coin purse she tucked into her dress and found Rafael taking out coins before she could. "You are paying?" She questioned.
"That is why I looked for coins. I will pay for what you want today," said Rafael, handing the coins over before Annalise could attempt to pay. "Do not say you wish to pay."
It wasn’t every day he got to walk around with Annalise and spoil her so he would make the most of this day. He had to because they didn’t know when the palace would send him out again after he returned from the border.
"Why would I turn down your offer when I get to save my allowance? I would have to be a fool to not let you spoil me. Is there a limit to how much you want to spend on me? I don’t want to spend more than you intend to spoil me with and upset you," said Annalise.
Even men with great wealth would get angry when they had to spend too much money.
"There is no limit," Rafael answered.
He mostly spent his money on repairs for the manor and paying the servants or knights. Other times there were gifts bought for his parents or the women he spent time with but he had never spent a large portion of the wealth he got over the years.
A day of spoiling Annalise was not going to hurt his pockets because he had brought plenty of money for their trip and if they had suddenly ran out of money, there was always the king who owed him. freewёbnoνel.com
Rafael accepted the bracelets from the owner and held them so Annalise could easily pick up what else she wanted.
"Then, can you please take me to where the best weapons are? I want a new sword for myself and one for my father. Though I don’t think he will like it. His swords always come from the same family," Annalise said, realising she might need to change up her gift for her father.
She wanted something to show that there were fun things on this side of the kingdom to enjoy. The only gift her father would want was seeing her return safely or hearing that she was no longer with Rafael.
"Other than us no longer together, I think a child is the only thing my father would like," Annalise said, not noticing Rafael’s face because she was lost in thought. "Because he is not so eager to let me get married you would think he isn’t looking forward to grandchildren but that is not the case. I don’t know how he expects to have grandchildren if he is not so open to the man I love."
"Then again, his eyes always light up when I give him a present no matter what it is. Maybe I should learn how to craft a sword myself and make one for my father. Then he will enjoy the sword, but we won’t have enough time for me to learn how to make one. What do you think we should give him, Rafael?" Annalise asked.
A man’s opinion was important here.
"I think if it is a grandchild that would make him happy, we should focus on that one gift. When you are ready, I am here to start putting together that wonderful gift," Rafael answered.
"You won’t easily agree to let me get a snake but you want a child? You’re just as difficult as my father," Annalise said, walking off ahead of Rafael.
