The Greatest Mecha-Chapter 61: Another Step Forward
Chapter 61: Another Step Forward
Time went by across the planet and in the mech division, the cadets of the mech division were taken off planet to participate in a strict training regiment in a space station to hone their skills and also to rank them based on their strengths and weaknesses. Alto who had been busy on the other hand did not have time to see them off as they went, he only got the news of their departure. All he knew was that they would return in a few months, he focused his mind on his own work and how he could complete his work.
On the third week he had finished his study of the mech and understood it’s workings. The Opis magnum was a light medium weight class mech that mostly functioned best in close range combat, the original designers wanted to have a capable battle mech on sale. While it was not unpopular to have a light medium weight class mech in close quarters battle they were at least meant to have a ranged weapon. Alto decided that the mech would have capable shoulder mounted missile guided launches that could only be reloaded twice but with a huge payload, a huge Gatling gun that would increase the weight of the mech in battle and decrease it’s mobility but would spray bullets wildly. He took into consideration the fact that the mech pilot might drop his Gatling and opt for a different weapon, in this situation it would have a set of dual laser pistols to rely on. For its ranged weapon Alto opted for a long spear that would be good for thrusting into its opponents.
Alto also added a one time speed thruster to the mechs legs just for an extra kick when needed. While designing the internals to suit his taste he had a huge problem trying to create the missile guided system. He was forced to rewrite the code of the mech and at time write an entirely new code, with the help of the nurse he was able to get even more books and with it he did a lot of studying. This alone took him another week since he would have to test the code multiple times and see if it failed. Another thing he had to deal with was the mechs cooling system while the original model managed it’s heat release well Alto had added a few more components to mix leading to him to learn and entirely new field. After designing the systems to release heat from the mech system, he has the task of deciding on what alloy he would use for the mechs exterior, a much harder armour would mean the mech would be more tougher and resistant to attacks but it would also be a conductor of heat and this would be bad if the internal systems overheated.
The telemetry of the mech would be entirely ruined, with every error Alto made he went back to scratch, retracing his steps. Where his intuition failed the designer’s eye would help. Perfecting the internals alone took him a whole month, by the second month he was working on the externals. He decided to purchase a very durable alloy metal for the mech parts, fabricating them turned into a total nightmare, despite being better equipped in the field he still lacked the experience. But with enough time on his hand he continued to work without pause, and eventually he managed to fabricate the armour plates and mech parts within the next month.
After putting everything together he ran multiple simulations to test it’s functionality within the game and made the necessary tweaks. When he was finally done he looked at his finished mech, it looked like a human knight, it had a similar helmet design, its chest was a bit bulky, on its shoulder was it’s missile launchers, it carries a gatling gun, laser rifles by its side, a long titanium spear on its back. It was painted with more care than his previous work, it’s body painted white then adding lines of blue and grey at the joints, he made sure it’s weapons spotted a golden shine. He wanted the mech to resonate like the mech it was, for this work he gave it the name. "THE PERCIVAL." Taking inspiration from a long lost human history.
He waited till the mech designer protocol beeped and sighed, he knew it was time to see his evaluation. He was ready for whatever criticism it would give him.

"Common, please say something good." He said in a half serious tone, he was drained from the workload and wanted to be done with it as soon as he could.

Overall Evaluation- From the stats it is clear the user has put a lot of consideration into the design though some parts are still left to be decided. This is considered a massive improvement from the base model and it carries a special feature.
Truly a mech that can compete somewhat with other capable models of its rank. Though some improvements can be made to increase the overall efficiency of the mech it has performed well.
[You have recieved 50cp for completing and improving upon an original design]
[You have recieved 2000cp for raising the performance to a mech to over fifty percent it’s original]
[The user’s growth and efforts has been seen by the system, you have been gifted, a gold box]
Alto collapsed on his bed unable to laught or cry, the only thing he could do however was smile. He had designed and fabricated virtual mech from scratch without the help of the professor or the mech designer protocol, it was done by his own strength. The feeling of achieveing something and bringing a mech to life was exhilarating.
"First things first, I have to sell the damn thing." He sighed as he navigated to the sell button, and saw the price assigned by the game system was "450,000 credits". Alto’s face went white with disbelief. "That’s over five times the money I put the first mech for." He had no idea if the small project he had worked on should be that expensive but that was what he got, and again Alto was unsure if he should change the price since it was fearful enough for him. In the end he decided to keep it the same. After sending it to the market Alto turned his attention to the mech designer protocol to see just what this gold box was.
He found his way to where it sat shining in the package section of the holo screen, he tapped on it and it shimmered light before it broke down to reveal a single item. It was a small vial similar to the Arrendius Elixir but it was the same, the name appeared above it.
[Arrendius Elixir Batch One]
[You have found the base elixir for genetic enhancement of all human manoid species]
Alto frowned at the briefness of the introduction of it, he knew a bit of gene enhancement. They were myths kept secretly higher rate ked people in the world like nobles. He did not question himself where the system got the strange liquid or who bottle it. He downed it in one go, the thick liquid settling in his stomach. What followed next was a world of pain, his body tearing apart from its pores, Alto had forgotten how painful it had been the first time.
He was lucky the nurse was nearby, she thought he had finally run mad, she managed to inject him with a sedative. Alto slept in pain but woke up forever changed his boy much stronger and vibrant. The system announced that some of his physical status had risen. Alto had become more sharper, slightly taller, a bit more muscular, his eyes sharp, his face and body brighter. It was a feeling similar to being reborn from his point of view.
Driven my inexplicable hunger Alto started to ravage through the foods he usually set aside when he worked. His ravenous attitude was as a result of using the strange elixir which had changed him in more ways internally than externally.
His next goal was to improve on his skill, he initial has 1550 creation points with the 2050 creation points he had just acquired he would have a total of 3600 creation points. During his time working on the Opis Magnum his stats such as concentration, intelligence, endurance and creativity had improved by 0.4.
Altos first decisions was to use 1000 creation points to improve his intelligence by 1 point. After feeling his brain being expanded he proceeded to spend. He hopped into the skill tree to spend another 1000 creation points on 3D printing and coding, enhancing his base knowledge on them. Now left with 1600 creation points he decided to use 1000 more to improve his concentration by one point. Knowing this would be needed for him to be a better able to work for longer without being distracted easily, working with 100% intent was needed in the process of mech designing.
Feeling more reward than he was when he finished his mech he looked at his status and see how far he had come.
