The phone rang for a few seconds before Bo Jingyan saw Xia Qingtian pull it out of her bag.
The call was quickly answered.
“Xia Qingtian, where are you right now?” Before she could return his greeting, Bo Jingyan’s sharp voice came through, filled with annoyance.
“I’m at home.” Xia Qingtian’s voice came out soft and indifferent.

“I don’t want to go today.” Xia Qingtian quickly brushed off his request, a hint of exhaustion present in her voice.

“Who knows if you…” Xue Peng was in the middle of yelling when he noticed the person behind her. His voice abruptly stopped, a touch of unwillingness flashed in his eyes.

All of a sudden, a dispassionate voice sounded from behind.
Xia Qingtian shivered and slowly turned around to see Bo Jingyan’s disconcertingly handsome face.
He was in a black suit, with his dark red tie slightly crooked, as if he had hastily rushed over.
Upon seeing Bo Jingyan, all the employees in the room lowered their heads instantly, diligently staring at their computer screens, no longer daring to take idle glances around.
Xue Peng, seeing him, dared not speak any further. He gritted his teeth, bowed his head, and bent down to pick up his box from the floor.
His cold gaze briefly swept over Xue Peng. After catching Xia Qingtian’s astonished eyes, Bo Jingyan’s black orbs unconsciously softened as he asked coldly, “Were you being harassed by him just now?”

Xia Qingtian paused for a moment, suddenly remembering something and then turned to Bo Jingyan again, softly asking, “Did you arrange for Xue Peng’s dismissal?”
“Yes.” Bo Jingyan confirmed in a cold, concise manner.
Understanding dawned upon Xia Qingtian, making everything much clearer.
