Chapter 82: Chapter 82

[You sensed it, right?]

Keelion dropped into his office chair, his head dropped back and an arm thrown over his eyes. "I don’t...I don’t understand what is happening."

[It was almost like...she manifested there. Her wolf, I know you sensed it. Her eyes, did you see them? They were golden and you know what that means, right?]

"She is a dominant omega."

[Exactly] A sigh fled from Nyx. [I know you’re still conflicted about us keeping her, but we have to, Keelion. You know you want to, I know what you feel, all your emotions and I know that...]

"Know what?" Keelion grunted. "What do you know, Nyx?"

[I know what you feel for her, Keelion, not just merely because she’s our mate. I know you love—]

A knock came at the door, causing Keelion to lift his head.

"Come in."

The door pushed open and none other than Augustus stepped inside. He bowed deeply and straightened up, then approached the desk.

"Are people talking?"

"The staff? Yes. Though they don’t exactly know what’s going on... It’s just useless talks..." he responded.

"I see..." Keelion pinched between his brows and brushed his fingers through his white strands. He popped open the blues of his eyes and looked at the man. "Her mother, has she been taken care of?"

"Yes sir, just like you asked."

"Good." Then he leaned back on the seat. "I want you to do something for me, Augustus."

"Anything, sir."

"The person who did that to her, I want you to find them for me," he ordered. "I don’t care what it takes. But I need you to find whoever killed her. And when you do, bring them to me alive. Alive and nothing more, do you understand?"

Augustus nodded. "Yes, sir."

"One more thing." He steepled his fingers. "I’m going to keep her, Alexis. I’m not letting go and that means I’m willing to risk her life. She’ll be with me, but that also means I’m going to need you to protect her as best as you can. I’m not always going to be around her, because I handle a lot of matters, you understand that, right?"

"Yes, sir."

"So keep her safe for me, no matter the circumstances. It is not an order, but a request, Augustus. A request from a friend."

Augustus’s lashes fluttered absentmindedly and he swallowed before bowing to him again. "Even if you didn’t ask, I would. And my life still wouldn’t be a limit. You have nothing to worry about, sir."

Keelion exhaled in relief. "Thank you."

Amora and Keona walked through the beauty of the world surrounding them, their feet barely meeting with the flowerbeds below.

They came to a stop all of a sudden and deeply bowed before straightening up to stare at the figure seated on a stone at the very edge of the spring water. Her flowing curls showered down her back, golden and bright like the sun, mingling beautifully with the delicate blooms of wild violets, lilies, and lavenders.

The spring bubbled above her knees, a soft hum fleeing her lips as she moved her fingers through the water in slow, deliberate strokes.

"My answer is no," she said, voice soft and gentle.

She already knew what they came for and both women knew she knew.

"Mother." Keona stepped up, but not enough to approach too close. "You have to let us go, please. It’s no longer fair."

Amora backed her up. "Her mother is dead. That was never part of her punishment—"

"The death of my creations do not rest in my hands, it is not something I can interfere with," the woman said. "Ageless, as vampires, but not invincible. It was inevitable."

"I know that," Keona spoke. "But she’s going to die. She’s helpless, mother."

"And you truly desire to give up your status?" Her white toga, pooled around her, clung to her form. "You want to reduce yourself to a werewolf, to protect her? You two are willing to go that far?"

She never looked at them once, but they knew she could still see them regardless.

Both nodded.

"You both understand she may have been your sister once, but she was reborn. She does not remember any of you and all these will be your loss. Do you agree?"

"Yes, we understand that," Keona responded. "But it doesn’t change the truth. She was once our sister and we never stopped loving her."

The woman’s movement in the spring halted. She lifted her hand, waving it gracefully and as if the air was divided, everything surrounding Alexis came into her view and she tilted her head.

"The moment you take a step out of Moondrop, you will never come back. You will cease being a goddess and you will be stripped of all privileges, do you both understand that?"

"Yes, mother." They nodded.

"You will no longer be rid of any vulnerability."

"We understand that."

"You still desire to do this?" she asked.

They nodded adamantly.

"You’re permitted to leave Moondrop."

Keona breathed out of relief. They’d expected this to be harder, after all, the two of them leaving meant their mother would have to appoint three new pillars to watch over her creations. Maybe deep inside, she already permitted their leave, after all, she already knew they were going to ask for this even before they came.

"Thank you, mother."

They deeply bowed to her and straightened up with a light smile on their faces. It was mixed with a bit of sadness—they’d never left Moondrop before, they were leaving...home. A place they were created...

The both of them turned to leave, but her words suddenly stopped them on their feet.

"Your abilities as a goddess, you may hold onto half of them. The rest, you shall be stripped of."

Their smiles widened. It was more than enough. If anything, they expected to be stripped entirely of their abilities, after all, the same was done to Alexis.

"Thank you, mother! Thank you!"

"Take care of her. Make the right choices according to the vision you’re given and keep her alive until the end. This is how I can answer her mother’s death request. Understood?"

"Yes, mother."
