The Alpha's Fated Mate Is an Outcast-Chapter 14
Chapter 14: Chapter 14
Alexis quickly responded, "No one."
Keelion glanced around the room with a furrowed brow. He was sure he’d heard her speaking to someone, but then again, no one would dare step into his room, not without his permission.
"I’ll only let you get away with lying once. Just once, Alexis."
Her throat dipped in a swallow. She would tell him about Sereia, but wouldn’t he think she was crazy? It wasn’t like there was anyway to prove she had a wolf...that Sereia existed.
"Yeah, I wouldn’t suggest doing that, kid. He might possibly think you’re lying to save yourself. It would be messy."
She didn’t disagree.
"I asked you to come out an hour after I left, why didn’t you?" Keelion asked, walking over to the sofa where he stood, taking off his knee-length coat, and tossing it on the armrest. He went for his tie, and while he took it off, Alexis stared at the back of his large frame.
"I...fell asleep."
The man spun around with brows furrowed in shock. "You slept for ten hours?" He stepped toward her with an inquisitive look.
Alexis inched away from him.
He inched closer.
"Kid, what are you doing?" Warm furs tickled up her exposed legs, causing her to almost trip and fall, to which Keelion grasped her hand, pulling her back to her feet.
The male scent of him overwhelmed her, and she inhaled sharply, yet again reminded she was still in heat and every touch of his, or merely even having him in close proximity, wasn’t a good thing.
Keelion stared her down. It seemed like he had something to say, but he instead let go of her, turning to have his back on her, finger reaching for the buttons of his shirt.
"Your room for now is the one next to mine. Meet Augustus in the morning," he said.
She nodded without reluctance and made her way out of the room, shutting the door behind her. She turned, sauntering to the next door. Sereia, who was following beside her, looked up at her.
"Why are you so nervous, kid?"
"Stop calling me a kid," Alexis gritted out, grabbing the door handle and pushing it open. She stepped in and stopped short at the interior that was overwhelmed with Keelion’s scent.
It wasn’t really any different from his master bedroom which had just as big of a bed, an eye-turning chandelier, and a floor-length window. The strange thing was the fact that this room held more of his scent than his master bedroom did, almost like he stayed in there...more.
"Why were you inching away from him?" Reia questioned, walking towards the bed and hopping into it to sit.
"Can you get down from that bed?" Alexis glared at her.
"Answer my question, kiddo."
"I’m not a kid!"
Sereia narrowed her eyes on her. "I can see that. Answer my question."
Alexis turned her back on her and stalked her way to the closet. "I’m in heat," she said.
"I know you are. But that doesn’t answer my question. Why did you inch away like you didn’t want his touch?"
She pulled the closet doors open and stopped short inside at the grandeur of the interior, filled with nothing but Keelion’s clothing, shoes, and accessories, all organized so nicely. There was no doubt about it—this was his room, and one he seemed to use constantly.
Reia hopped off the bed, following her into the closet. "You haven’t answered my question."
Alexis glared at her. "I’m in heat, and...when he touches me slightly or even comes close to me, it makes me want things I don’t really want to want. It makes it hard to control my heat. When he’s not around, it almost doesn’t even feel like I’m in heat, but then once I smell even his presence, it completely changes things."
"That’s ridiculous," Sereia scoffed. "He’s our mate, of course, he’ll make you feel like that."
Alexis stopped on her heels, saying, "He doesn’t like me, he doesn’t even want to keep me even if we are mates."
"What do you mean by that?"
"He’ll get rid of me once this fades." She pointed to the mating mark on her neck. "That is why I’m here. He’s never marked anyone before, and neither have I been imprinted on. It wouldn’t be good for either of us to be separated, I’m sure you know that."
"I’m aware," Reia grumbled out the words.
"Yeah, so that is the only reason I’m here.
Her wolf didn’t seem all too happy about that, the sudden aura around her changing. "We’re not some kind of tools to be discarded, girl."
"Can you blame him?" Alexis asked sincerely. "I’m not suited to be his mate. He’s the alpha and also a supreme alpha. He’s already done enough keeping what I am a secret. He thinks I don’t have a wolf, so—"
"But you do."
"Yes, and only you and I know that."
Reia snarled but didn’t say another word.
Alexis reached for one of Keelion’s white suit shirts, grabbed it, and left the closet. She took a warm shower, discarded her clothing, and slipped into the shirt.
She walked over to the bed and sat down comfortably, legs pulled to her chest. Sereia sat opposite her on the bed, watching her intently.
"Are you going to sit there and watch me all night?"
"What if I do?" The wolf arched a brow.
Alexis hiccuped on a soft laugh. "That’s creepy."
"Well, kid, I unfortunately can’t get far away from you, not even if I want to."
"Do you hate that?"
"I’m not falling into the trap of answering that question. I don’t really want to watch you sulk about my response or hit me again."
"I’m sorry about that, I didn’t mean to," she mumbled sincerely.
Sereia sighed under her breath, hopping over to curl up right next to her. Alexis threw an arm over her body and let out a soft breath. "Your fur is so soft and warm."
"You know you can talk to me telepathically, right?"
She blinked at her. "I can?"
"I’m sure you can hear me even when I’m not speaking. I can hear you too. You should rely more on that so people don’t think you’re crazy, especially Keelion. Don’t give him more reason to get rid of us."
Alexis screwed her brows but did nod, a smile curving on her lips. She closed her eyes and eventually drifted off to sleep with Reia, who also slept off.
A few minutes in, the door pushed open, and Keelion walked in with a closed laptop in his hand. He strolled over to the sofa to sit down but stopped short, eyes gliding over to Alexis, who was soundly asleep on the bed, draped in his shirt.
His brow shot up, his figure still for a few seconds, before he eventually sat down on the sofa, pulling his laptop open to finish the rest of his paperwork.
Sereia, who was still asleep right next to Alexis, scrunched her face, her nose twitching all too suddenly. She rose a bit from Alexis, turning her head to stare at Keelion, who was typing away on his laptop, a few strands of his short white hair falling over his face.
Pure amusement flickered in her golden eyes, and she puffed out a breath that could be considered a chuckle, lying back down in Alexis’s arms.
No one’s getting rid of us, kid.
