Chapter 11: Chapter 11

Keelion drove off onto the road, neither him nor Alexis who was curled in the car seat saying a word to each other until he arrived at his mansion. He pulled over, and while the security opened the gate, he slipped off the jacket of his suit, tossing it over to her.

"What is this for?" Alexis asked.

"Cover your head. You look like a mess."

Glassy eyes, flushed cheek, trembling lips as if she were shivering from a cold... No one wouldn’t suspect something was wrong with her.

Alexis pulled his jacket over her head and forced herself off the car seat to get out once he parked in the parking lot.

Keelion came down, and she followed quietly behind him, arms wrapped around her burning figure. She was breathing out hot puffs of breath, eyes stuck on the large figure of the man who was walking in front of her.

The staff in the mansion were all bowing and greeting at every sight of him, and she’d gripped tighter on his coat, trying to keep her face hidden.

Once they stepped into the elevator, she sighed softly under her breath, her gaze snapping to Keelion every now and then. His hands were shoved into the pocket of his slacks and the arms of his white shirt were rolled up to his elbow.

He was tall—taller than anyone she had ever met. Maybe six feet six or more. She’d never looked him in the face properly, not really. But he was gorgeous, and not in any common way. No, the man was, like, crazy, stupid beautiful, with short snowy strands of hair slicked back in the hottest way possible.

And the broad size of him—the fabric of his outfit so much around nice muscles. It made sense...why every omega was all over him. Even Eve...

Her gaze rose to his eyes...the bluest of blue, and she flinched slightly at the fact that he was staring her down, dark brow cocked in amusement.

Alexis’s eyes went wide, her face darkening to crimson. She quickly shifted away from him and gave space between the both of them while still clutching onto his coat.

Keelion’s brows lined in confusion. Then he laughed quietly, nothing more than a scant puff of breath. He stepped through the opened door of the elevator, and she followed after him, her hand rising to rub her neck.

There were no staff around the hallway as arrangements were more being handled on the first floor. Keelion pushed the door open, nodding her in. Alexis slipped in, and he shut the door behind them.

She turned to look at him, finally taking the coat off her head, and he watched her without saying a word, head tilted to the side. She was squirming under his gaze, shifting from one foot to another.

"Can I have suppressants?"

"No," he said, walking over to settle down on the loveseat. "You’re going to kill yourself."

She shot him a probing look. "I don’t understand."

"It’s your first heat. You would be taking the suppressants a bit too late, and it’s going to kill you."

"What do I do then? I mean..." She balled her fists helplessly and rubbed her legs together, the breaths fleeing her nose, scorching. The mating mark around her neck was itching, and she scratched, squeezing her eyes shut.

"Sex during heat has a ninety-nine percent chance of you getting pregnant and I have no intention of getting you pregnant, this is all temporary." Keelion dragged his fingers through his hair as he spoke, and peeled his gaze over to her.

"Come over here." The sudden order made Alexis blink her eyes open.

She moved towards him reluctantly, and once she was closer to him, he grasped her arm, pulling her down on his lap with her body facing him.

She gazed at him with glazed eyes, body as still as a statue, and that prompted him to ask, "Has anyone ever scented you before?"

"Huh?"

"Has anyone ever given their scent to you?"

"No..." She shook her head at him, eyes still glossy and soft. "Everyone except my family thinks I’m a beta."

The man hummed softly, a sound that sounded like satisfaction, and he breathed against her neck. "Scenting you will calm you down, for a few hours at least, until I have to do it again."

"But wouldn’t people smell your scent on me?" she asked with haste.

Keelion’s eyes crinkled comically. "I’m a supreme alpha, not a standard alpha, you’d need your wolf to be able to hold my scent. And considering you don’t, no one will be able to smell it on you."

"Oh..."

In no sense would any member of the pack ever let her off as the outcast she was. Every omega was meant to be able to carry their alpha’s scent, and even though this man was her alpha—her mate, she was incapable of doing that.

Keelion snapped his fingers in her face, drawing her attention back to him. "Snap out of it."

Alexis blinked at him.

"Why did you lie?" he questioned, his voice suddenly turned harsh.

She gulped, knowing what he was asking about.

"I’m sorry..."

He furrowed his eyebrows. "I’m not asking for an apology. I want an explanation."

"I didn’t want to get my father involved," she said. "I was afraid."

"Afraid of what?"

He shot her a probing look.

"If things went wrong, he would never have let my mother stay with him. I was doing it for my mother," she said, fisting her hands at his shoulders. "I wouldn’t have lied otherwise."

Keelion snorted. "You think your mother is living with your father? Right now?" His fingers ran up and down her hips.

Alexis nodded.

"She has nowhere else to go. That’s why I had to lie—"

He popped her chin in his grip and regarded her curiously. "She isn’t with your father."

She was confused, immediately screwing her brows at him.

"I don’t...understand. Where is my mother then?"

"A good apartment. I had Augustus handle that," Keelion said, brushing his knuckles over her soft cheek. She shivered but didn’t shake the hand off. "Your mother is fine. I made sure of that. If you would like to see her, you can do that when your heat ends. Until then, you’ll be here."

Alexis stared at him and suddenly asked. "Why are you being nice?"

"Nice?" He arched a brow at her. "I’m not being nice."

"Oh." She choked on her breath. "Then...does that mean I’ll pay...?"
