Chapter 103: Asshole Cat

With heavy breathing and steps that exhausted more energy than normal, HugeP finally caught up to Balatro.

Other teammates were beside him, and the Tier IV combatants who didn’t swallow the pills to reach the next tier regretted it too late.

"Where is Balatro?" he asked, his darting eyes furiously.

The entire atmosphere was grimmer than they expected.

Balatro’s Order saw how a small, frozen village was crumbling before their eyes.

Not only were corpses littered on the ground, but blood pooled in the snow.

Amidst this chaos, they caught a glimpse of Nero.

The cat was quicker and deadlier than anything they had ever seen.

She was one-shoting tall creatures, sometimes with her paws or shadows, but other times, she used wizardly spells to slaughter them in batches.

"So this is what high-tier fights look like," HugeP pondered excitedly.

Seeing how his guild members fared, he knew they also shared the same thoughts and wished to reach the same power.

But Balatro was nowhere to be found.

They saw corpses dropped by sharp dagger marks, but he was invisible.

Then they noticed a taller abomination that wrecked the frozen paths and screamed furiously.

It was definitely searching for someone until a loud voice echoed through the village.

"You guys are late," Balatro said mockingly. "Now sit tight and enjoy the show."

His voice was heard but from different locations.

No one could pinpoint his position, and the boss monster shared the same struggle.

"Let’s stay back and watch. We don’t want to get swept by their aftermath."

HugeP ordered.

His one eye was still on the beast, anticipating the battle.

Meanwhile, Jung mastered Keep Corpse Arc to a sufficient level, and he decided it was time for him to act.

Changing his location, he appeared behind the monster, and with Heroic Barrier under his feet, he pushed himself to accelerate.

His speed skyrocketed as he flew from the corpse to the Nightmare.

Daggers were still in his hands, asking for more blood to drink and more flesh to slice.

Aiming at the shoulder of his Tier VIII opponent, Jung was so quick that even he had a hard time adjusting his strength.

It was nearly impossible to control his stance with a flying body when he couldn’t even change his direction.

Yet he was precise and cut one shoulder cleanly in half.

The damaged monster didn’t scream but attacked Jung in a pained frenzy.

Its hands hacked at him with the power to cut air and smash him.

Yet the time slowed for his senses, and collecting observable information from the way Nightmare moved, Jung dodged and even counterattacked.

While continuously altering his balance, Jung adapted to every situation.

He slashed the monster’s hands as the wind guided the path his blades had to follow.

The images flashed in his head, predicting what course of action his opponent would take.

It was more of an observation.

He was keeping everything in his mind.

The world, the distance, and the speed.

Every little detail was registered by his two superior senses, and Jung didn’t struggle.

As for the players, they watched his performance with open mouths.

Sometimes they gasped.

Sometimes they trembled.

Watching was a strong word because they only saw flashes and spilled blood.

Their slow eyes couldn’t follow Balatro.

Yet they could hear miserable moans from the beast.

They could also hear Jung’s maniacal laughter as he toyed with the boss monster.

"He is a monster!"

"I don’t know what’s going on, but I know he is amazing."

"Can we record it? He won’t get angry over it, right?"

"I don’t think so... At least he didn’t care when Lola uploaded them."

"Awesome! I’m going to record it and make it big when we leave."

"Me too!"

Players whispered, but their eyes never left Jung’s unseen figure.

They couldn’t interact with the real world, and even if they had videos, uploading them on the net was impossible.

Seeing how the outside world managed was possible, but anything more than that didn’t work.

As they enjoyed the show Balatro played, Jung was having a great time as well.

Until Nero disturbed his concentration.

"These losers are slacking. Mind if I give them some work to do?" she asked.

Guessing her plans, Jung wouldn’t say no to her.

"Do what you have to. But try to control their deaths."

Then he glanced at the kill counter and added, "Leave ten for me."

He was eleven murders away from reaching his goal.

"It’s sweet."

Thinking about the future that was getting closer and closer, Jung became even more consistent.

Before players realized what the evil Nero had arranged, he danced on the ground.

He didn’t shy away from walking on the air, either.

Leaping into the sky, Jung came down with a forceful swing aimed closer to the neck and inner arm.

His goal was to destroy the second side of the monster and leave it outright vulnerable.

Of course, it worked.

The Nightmare tried to disturb his flow.

But alas, it was too late.

Jung’s persona created magical blades, cleaving everything it touched.

As soon as he ruined the monster’s hands, he grinned but didn’t stop.

Blood was rushing through his muscles, giving him stability, yet his heart stayed so inflamed that he couldn’t contain himself and accidentally butchered its other limbs.

"Damn," he cried. "I need to restrain myself."

The blood loss would harvest the life, but not to prolong its suffering, Jung decapitated it painlessly.

"That’s too easy. That’s too easy..."

Hiding his daggers, Jung collected the pills and devoured the body.

It was steadily climbing up, but despite that, it was too slow.

"Ten more to go."

Only ten kills remained for him to find more clues about Elara.

However, before he teleported to search for monsters to slay, Jung saw a scene that made him slap himself.

"Nero, you tiny asshole. Why are they dying?"

Tier VI abominations killed the players one by one.

Meanwhile, Nero stood in their ranks, laughing hysterically and having a great time.
