Reincarnated Jester: Taming Players-Chapter 102: Travel Through Corpse
Chapter 102: Travel Through Corpse
Jung used barriers as a platform to reach Nightmares without making a sound.
In addition, the aerial attack was harder to predict.
He also wanted to test this freshly developed Arc.
’Let’s save it for our main dish,’ he thought eagerly.
In an instant, he was upon his enemies, and daggers moved in quick succession, cutting limbs and heads alike.
With an assassin’s silence and a warrior’s might, Jung aimed at critical spots.
Not a single Nightmare realized what was going on.
Their comrades fell one after another, painting the whiteness of the snow with the redness of the blood.
Soon, Nero joined the fun.
Shadow Star was thrown, and like Jung, she slaughtered abominations without getting noticed.
The snowstorm helped, yes, but their capabilities played a bigger role.
There was no holding back; both of them used their ultimate skills and fought vigorously.
"I have never fought in so much snow before."
Even Jung, despite his numerous lives, wasn’t armed with the same experiences.
[Stop blabbering and do it quickly,] Vex scolded.
"Give me a gift to boost my motivation," Jung retorted.
He was slashing flesh with his daggers and was quite pleased with their performance.
Their damage output was significantly augmented.
[No. You don’t deserve it,] the system answered in a pouting voice.
"What a bummer."
Jung side-hopped on the platform, letting it crash into his foot to give him a push with enough force for him to accelerate towards his opponents.
The stronger he became, the more outrageous his combat style developed.
He wasn’t getting attacked, though.
’How come I am constantly battling against foes weaker than me?’
It was rare for him to encounter an enemy that truly endangered his life.
God was offended, but it’s not like he was doing anything to punish him.
Except for sending people after him.
But it didn’t count, because Gwen was weaker than he had been.
As for Walt, Jung was confident he could outperform the old man any time of the week.
’Unless he suddenly evolves,’ he thought.
However, he missed the genuine thrill of the war.
Not knowing if he could survive when every battle meant risking his life.
He didn’t complain because he wanted to throw his life away.
It wasn’t like his previous lives when he had no attachments, and he knew he would get another life.
There was no such thing in this life.
Yet sometimes he wondered how it would feel for him to encounter an impregnable wall.
"I am literally suffering from my greatness. Damn, I am too OP."
[You aren’t powerful just because you can beat around some monsters.]
Vex said, and her words halted Jung’s movement for a second.
"For real..."
He said, pondering what she said and how accurate it was.
Though he was effective against the monsters, it didn’t automatically make him omnipotent.
His strength was shallow.
Sometimes it worked, but it might not even help him when it truly mattered.
He needed to become invincible, a supreme human being, greater than the gods and more absolute than the Archeons themselves.
Saving Elara wasn’t strolling through the park, and his meagre ability wouldn’t help him.
Noticing that he understood her intention, Vex added,
[You aren’t half bad, either. Keep going, and you might reach what you are searching for.]
"Come on! I liked that he was thinking for once."
Nero said as she teleported after summoning pillars and transforming snow into a liquid form.
"No one asked your opinion, you shitfest."
Jung told her.
Then he went back to the fight.
The players were late, and the distance and the heaviness of the weather weren’t easy to cross.
Nero and Jung’s duo was used to their capabilities and habits, meaning they never had a problem getting rid of the monsters with their flawless teamwork.
It was kind of overkill for them to double down on poor Nightmares, but it was hard to control themselves.
With a sudden explosive lunge, Jung covered the distance, chopping with his daggers.
His upward swing delivered a strike to the chin and slit flesh and bones with no resistance.
He could penetrate their skin and muscle tissues like a hot knife, and the Shifting Cloud mist enveloped the village.
"Here it is!"
Jung felt it.
Nero, too, sensed the new, forceful, and dominant presence.
"The boss monster,"
Jung muttered, changing his target.
It was sitting in the snow and was completely covered by it.
His breathing made the thick layer of ice crack, and the creator monster stood up.
Just because he was a leader, it didn’t mean he had to be a ruler.
This archetype was the rarest, and not every species or village had one.
The creator observed the surroundings, and he roared upon seeing his fellow inhabitants dead on the ground.
His eyes were larger; they glowed with intellectual wonder and opened something no other Nightmare possessed.
It was a mouth filled with bizarre gums and no tongue.
Then, dashing at Jung, its objective was clear.
"Come at me, you stupid bitch."
Jung answered with a roar of his own and activated the Keep Corpse for the very first time.
He saw threads connecting him to the corpses, and with a slight pull, he could do something.
Not knowing what it would do, Jung pulled the thread and dissolved on the spot, disappearing like he had never existed.
Then he reappeared in another place, standing on the freshly killed corpse.
"Wait, I can teleport to their remains however I want?"
He asked, confused.
To test it a couple of times, Jung teleported through one corpse after another, emerging from them.
"I don’t know if it’s gross or cool,"
He said, circling the boss monster to confuse it.
[It can be both. Grossly cool!] the system said proudly.
Hearing her attempt to be witty, Jung chuckled, and moving through his kills, he changed locations in each passing second.
"It’s like Nero’s Shadow Star. But more ominous. The way I like."
Just as he was about to change his movements from playing around to the offence, he sensed approaching players.
"Finally. They came at the right time. The show was about to start, and now that I have an audience, it’s time to have some fun."
