Regressed with Omnipotent AI on Zombie Apocalypse-Chapter 192: Different Tech Route
Chapter 192 - Different Tech Route
Back at the Base...
"Look! The plane's leaving!" "They're really gone!"
For a brief moment, the survivors let out a breath of relief, until they noticed something. The fearless warriors and terrifying robots were still there. Their metallic forms loomed over the square, unmoving. Fear quickly replaced relief. The atmosphere grew even more tense than before. And it stayed that way until Aegis completed its trip, delivering Zack and the 700 survivors to NYC before returning for the fearless warriors and terrifying robots.
Only after the last machine was gone did the fear finally fade. But in its place came confusion.
"They... really just left?"
"What about us?"
Then, the murmurs turned into anger.
"Those bastards stole our able man and woman!"
The moment they realized Aegis wasn't coming back, outrage spread like wildfire. Men who had been silent minutes ago were now screaming in fury, acting as if they had been personally wronged. Yet none of them had dared to lift a finger when it happened. Not one of them had spoken up. Not one of them had tried to stop the mechanical dogs. But now? Now they were furious. And then, someone made a discovery that changed everything.
"Wait... the weapons!"
"They left all the guns behind!"
For a moment, the anger vanished, replaced by a mad rush toward the armory.
"Grab them!"
"That house is mine!"
Gunfire erupted.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Violence spread like an infection. Survivors, who had just been side by side in suffering, turned on each other, slaughtering their own people over weapons, supplies, and even who got to claim which house or woman. Blood and smoke filled the base once more. The massacre Zack had started ended, only for a new one to take its place.
Meanwhile... Thousands of miles away, Zack stood in NYC, completely unaware of what was happening back in that Base. And honestly? He wouldn't have cared even if he knew.
Hours Earlier... While Zack was forcibly waking the blonde woman from the dormant pod, far away on the other side of Earth, inside Eden Base, something unusual happened. Kara, who had been leading a meeting, suddenly froze as if sensing something. Then, without a word, she stood up abruptly. "One of my bodies just went offline?!" Her expression darkened, countless thoughts flooding her mind. "Did someone forcefully activate a dormant pod?" Her eyes filled with rage.
With the perfected consciousness transfer technology, Kara could send her mind to another body anywhere on the planet in an instant, like logging into a different device over a network. But just now... One of her bodies had disconnected from the system. "Who did this?" She was still processing the situation when,
"Kara, leader?" "Leader Kara?" The voice snapped her back to reality.
Inside the conference room, a high-ranking executive had been discussing plans when Kara suddenly stood up in silence. After calling her name twice with no response, his voice now carried a hint of nervousness. "Leader Kara, is there something wrong with my proposal?" he asked cautiously.
Kara blinked, realizing she hadn't heard a single word of his plan. "Ah... right, your proposal..." she muttered, barely thinking. "Let's talk about it next time. Meeting dismissed."
Without another word, she turned and strode out of the conference room, leaving behind a room full of confused executives. Moments later, she had her answer. Looking at the holographic map in front of her, Kara clenched her fists, her teeth grinding in frustration. "It's you again..." A dimmed gray icon marked the exact location where her body had gone offline.
Back at NYC, After dealing with the surivors, Zack didn't bother resting. Instead, he entered his private laboratory, carrying the data and equipment recovered from the last raid. "Alright... let's see what kind of 'cutting-edge technology' the Vanguard Organization had up their sleeves," Zack muttered sarcastically. He placed a strange rifle, one used by Vanguard soldiers, onto the workbench.
Click!
A mechanical arm extended from the wall, grabbing the rifle and quickly dismantling it into its components. Zack observed the parts... but one in particular caught his attention. "...What the hell is this?" Lying in front of him was a black, organ-like component, twisted, pulsating, and almost alive. It didn't look mechanical at all. It looked like it had been grown rather than built.
Discarding the barrel, grip, and other common parts, Zack focused on this alien-like core. "Wait a second... is this the energy input terminal?" He pointed at a small hole on the black component, studying its structure. "Let's see how this thing actually fires."
Taking a test tube, Zack carefully dropped a few black liquid samples, extracted from the Hipporia Base, into the hole. The reaction was instantaneous.
Bzzzt, !
The black organic mass glowed red, emitting a low hum, as if coming to life. A second later,
BOOM!
The source of this c𝐨ntent is freeweɓnovēl.coɱ.
A beam of red energy shot out from the black component, smashing into the wall and blowing a hole the size of a washbasin! Rubble flew everywhere! And then, a horrid stench filled the lab. A smell like sulfur, but a hundred times worse. "Ventilation, now!" Zack snapped.
The air filtration system kicked in, quickly purging the putrid smell from the room. At the same time, Ego's voice echoed in his mind. "Sir, this weapon appears to use bionic technology...But here's the problem, The technology it mimics isn't from Earth."
Zack's expression shifted. "...Bionic technology? But it's not based on Earth's biotechnology?" His fingers slowly curled into a fist. If what Ego said was true... Then this confirms the existence of non-human life. The implications were staggering.
After analyzing the Vanguard Organization's bionic rifle, Zack shifted his focus to something even more intriguing, the rifle's energy source. That mysterious black liquid. Using lab equipment, he extracted a sample and ran a full analysis. The results were shocking. The liquid had a higher thermal energy value than oil.
Which meant... This "Black Water" wasn't just some biological experiment, it was an entirely new liquid energy source. But that wasn't all. Black Water wasn't just used as fuel. The dormant pod where Zack had found the Fox clone was also filled with it. Which meant only one thing... The Vanguard Organization had mastered an entirely different branch of technology. "Biotech?" Zack muttered, shaking his head. He wasn't a fan. In his eyes, machines were the future.
After studying the rifle and Black Water, he moved on to the rest of the research data and experimental equipment brought back from Xilia Base. Most of it was garbage. But among the piles of useless biotech files, he found something interesting, A detailed report on the clone and a consciousness transfer machine. And just as Zack was beginning to form a picture of the Vanguard Organization's technological level, Aegis returned to NYC, bringing back the Fearless Warriors and Mechanical Legion.
Finally, Zack had seen enough to make a judgment. "Their tech tree is all over the place...They're walking a dead-end path." He had originally assumed the Vanguard Organization was just another biotech cult, but the truth was worse. Now, he was sure, They had to have reverse-engineered alien technology or discovered relics from a lost civilization.
That should've been a huge advantage. But instead, All of their cutting-edge projects showed signs of imperfect replication. "Maybe they don't even understand what they're working with..." Zack muttered. But regardless of their competence, the possibility of alien influence made him uneasy. Very uneasy. "It's time to accelerate the plan."
