Reborn As An Extra In My Own Novel-Chapter 69: Final Fight [2]
Chapter 69: Final Fight [2]
(Back at the student council office)
"That kid really ordered me around, should I call it bravery?" Razor grinned as he stared through his balcony window down at the chaotic academy. "Well, I better get started."
Before Kai had entered the dungeon with the rest of the coven, he had told Razor only two things.
Firstly: the school was about to be assaulted. It was a rather unclear message, but Razor knew that was all Kai could reveal at the time, and since he had common sense, he was able to piece things together and confirm it had something to do with the abduction.
And the final thing Kai had told him was to open a certain box only when he deemed it necessary, and that moment was now.
Lifting the small aged box and opening its lid, Razor raised his brow.
He had anticipated a secret note or something along those lines inside the small box, but what was inside instead, was a—
’A rune stone,’ he mused.
Inside the box was a small formless stone with a single symbol on the top side that resembled that of a dragon.
Razor examined the rune stone for a moment and instantly grasped what it was meant to be used for.
Runes were an ancient language that could serve as a substitute for talents and orders just like zones and sorcery, but that didn’t mean many people knew about it, since only a select few could even interpret the language, not to mention possess an affinity for it.
But Razor was among those few prodigies that excelled at both zones and runes theory.
’I think I get the essence of the plan. A mass teleportation rune stone.’ He gazed out the window again, expanding his zone as far as he could. ’I see, so he has already placed the magic circles in position.’
Razor grinned broadly, now fully convinced he had made the right choice bringing Kai and his friends into the council, even if he had to bend certain rules to make it happen.
’I’ll play your game for now, kid.’ He picked the rune stone from the box, using his other hand to drag a chair to the balcony.
He swiftly placed the rune on the chair and entered his office, retrieving another rune stone he had.
Sitting back on the chair and channeling mana into both stones at once, he felt his entire mana reserve nearly drain and immediately closed his eyes to concentrate on conserving as much mana as he could.
Even with his eyes closed, he could see the flickers of golden light enveloping the school, as a sky-blue barrier covered the main sections of the academy.
The final battle was beginning—even though he wouldn’t be present, as student council president, he had to give his all.
"I guess we third years just have to leave things to the first and second years."
Razor smiled as the voice of the council’s vice president echoed in his ear, but she wasn’t the only one now present in the office.
The top twenty of the third years and those who survived the red dungeon incident now sat in the council group like some sort of gang.
"Don’t you think you guys should lend a hand?" Razor asked.
A young man with dark skin and dreads sighed. "Nah, I think it would be better to let the younger ones grow. If not, this first year would soon outclass the second years and disrupt the balance of seniority."
Razor paused for a moment, his unstable mana settling. "Is that so? Well, I think that might have already happened."

(Back at the first years lab: Kai’s POV)
The gasps of students who were being mass teleported to different sections of the academy and the growls of mana beasts that were also being teleported filled the air as I dashed past a group of teleporting students.
The radiant glow of the teleportation circle lit up the entire academy, making the chaos appear strangely beautiful.
Reozaki and the rest had already teleported, so I was currently the only one left in my zone.
[User has equipped rune cancel]
It was a special item I ordered from the black market before I entered the dungeon, and the same item I gave to each member of our team and Amanda too, to stop her from teleporting before she reached the administrative office.
The relic was a simple black ear cuff that could nullify rune magic to a degree, though it didn’t work against intermediate-ranked runes.
Deerheart by now must have fully sealed his contract with the intermediate-ranked demon, which meant the time I had before he began his spell was running short.
And since even I didn’t know anything about the headmaster or where most teachers had gone, I couldn’t exactly count on backup, that was why I had sent a shadow toward the location where Deerheart’s dark orb was set to appear—
Since no one could enter the orb once it activated unless they wanted to risk continent-wide destruction, that was my only real option.
But that also meant I alone had to confront Deerheart with no backup or support.
Which, to be honest, I wasn’t sure I could do, but at this point, I had no choice. It was either wait for him to finish his spell and deal with the aftermath, which would be disastrous, or find someone with a reality-bending ability that could override his orb.
And since I had already spent most of my resources bypassing his command that blocked upper years or teachers from interfering, I had almost no time to prepare for anything else.
’Let’s handle this one step at a time,’ I reminded myself.
Channeling mana through my body and activating the shadow exchange talent, I instantly began dissolving, and since I had already arranged most things on the outside, like ensuring Reni could recover, using my saints to send Matt a message and even leaving some saints to assist the students—I let my body shift into shadow.
[WELCOME MASTER KAISER VANGUARD TO THE ??? DUNGEON — HEAVEN’S PALACE]
[Good luck... Please return alive]
[Theron wishes you success]
It was time for both my death and my final confrontation with Deerheart.

(In the administrative office)
"Stay close and don’t step out of the circle!" Frieren instructed the students as they all huddled together and faced the dire wolves that appeared out of nowhere.
They had already reached the second floor of the building and needed to make it to the fourth floor, which was the top floor, to meet the drifter.
But the problem was that the floors seemed to twist, shift, and distort with every step they took.
Now it resembled an old Japanese house, with doors hanging from the ceiling while others led nowhere.
Frieren looked at Amanda, who was doing her best not to flee, then at the talisman pasted on her hand and smiled.
She tapped the piece of paper. ’Darling, don’t do anything reckless.’
The first wave of monsters lunged forward, but the students didn’t flinch, with a flick from Anica’s wrist, who was at the center of the circle behind Frieren, the first horde of mana beasts burst into fragments.
"Thanks, Anica. It’s comforting having you here."
Anica glanced at her from the corner of her eyes. "We’re friends, no need for the formal talk. And aren’t you Kai’s lover? That’s even more reason not to be so stiff."
Frieren felt her face heat up but quickly regained her composure. "Okay then, let’s give it our all."
Anica nodded as the next wave of monsters showed up, this time, orcs that towered at more than three times their size.
"How long before we reach the fourth floor, Reni?"
Frieren’s eyes glowed brightly as she synced with her spirit she had sent ahead. "If we follow the direction the mana beasts are coming from, then about ten minutes."
"Then..." Anica took to the sky as her body radiated with purple hues. "... Let’s end this quickly."
The purple mana swirled around the orcs, and as she clenched her fists tightly, the orcs burst apart just like the dire wolf.
The students’ eyes widened in awe as they looked up at Anica like she was some kind of legend.
Orcs were far from weak—in fact, they were C-ranked mana beasts, and a horde of them could easily overpower a B-rank.
But Anica had destroyed them like vermin.
Anica looked down at Frieren. "So...?"
Frieren shook her head, then turned to the students. "Soon we’re going to enter the death zone. Brace yourselves."
"Yes, princess."
The fourth floor was less than ten steps away.
