Reborn As A Ghost: Time To Build My Undead Army!-Chapter 1370: The Old Pizzeria
-----
After resting for a little while, the group decided to continue moving, Nyx was a bit restless and wanted to find the other girls and then her mother and be done with it, so they quickly began moving once more.
To make things quicker, they quickly broke through the ceiling and flew into the skies on top of her dragon form, a barrier of phantom dragons created before, which continued existing as a floating bubble of blue light, protected them from the falling rubble.
FLAAASH!
"Wooaah!"
Emily screamed in surprise and amusement as she saw the skies above the city, her eyes shining brightly in disbelief and awe at the beautiful sight in front of her. She immediately recognized the place as the city of New York, they were near Brooklyn at that!
"It's a nice view!"
Alma looked around, smiling as she felt the fresh and cold wind, her long pink hair waved by the wind, making her feel better and more relieved. The swamps down there had very heavy air, so it was harder to breathe than normally.
"Yeah… I can't believe I'm lucky enough to see this! Right dad?"
Fran nodded, as she glanced at her dad, the snowman, who looked into the horizon in silence, his empty eyes seemed to be admiring the beauty too, or well, that's what Fran thought. To answer her words, he nodded.
"This is Brooklyn…" Emily said. "Wait, I wonder… C-Could we go down for a bit? There's a place I want to visit."
"A place?" Nyx asked.
"Yeah… if this is really the city I came from, maybe my house is still around here… Can we look for it?" Emily asked.
Nyx, Fran, and Alma looked at one another with worried faces.
"But Emily, this isn't the real place, Brooklyn hasn't been destroyed and it still exists out there, Nightmare Realms, according to my mom, are like recreations of our memories!" Said Nyx. "And-"
"I-I know, you already said that but…" Emily muttered, looking sad. "Can't we do it? It won't take any time and… Forget it."
She sighed, looking down at the city with a bit of a disappointed look on her face.
Nyx ended up giving in to her request.
"Okay, let's go then…"
When she transformed into a giant dragon Emily had a surprisingly mature reaction to that, thinking it was cool, but without panicking as much as Alma or Fran had done it.
They flew over the city and slowly descended where Emily had indicated, slowly arriving in front of a large square where several buildings were destroyed.
"It should be here, yeah!"
She ran into her house, as the girls followed her, Nyx turning back to her humanoid, small form.
They walked around the inside of the area, it was a pizzeria with seats, tables, and even a kitchen.
"It's really here…"
Emily was standing in the middle of the pizzeria, looking around with surprise.
"But it all looks… so ruined."
There was moss over everything, and plants had begun growing from the floor, cracking it.
It made Emily feel a sense of loneliness and loss, despite this only being a recreation of her past memories.
The girls followed her in silence as they admired the place.
"This was where clients would come to sit down and eat the pizza my dad made…" She said. "And this is the kitchen…"
"Can't you make a pizza?" Nyx wondered, breaking the silence of the other girls.
"A-A pizza?" Emily asked. "I don't know, I doubt there are ingredients here though… the oven probably doesn't work either sadly."
"Awww…" Nyx sighed. "Oh well, what's else in here?"
She checked the kitchen while Emily noticed the stairs and walked upstairs in silence.
She saw that the ceiling of her room was wide open, and the bed and most things around them were ruined, probably after several rains and storms.
Looking at her room like this created a weird sense of nostalgia for her, despite being so young.
"Huh…"
She checked her books, and her things, and found a red scarf that was a bit wet, and covered on dust, but it seemed fine enough.
"Aunt's scarf…"
She kept it with her, and then looked elsewhere, trying to find something.
"Ah, there it is!"
She quickly threw some books and other things away, finding inside a small wooden box a little silver necklace with heart-shaped decoration.
The heart-shaped decoration made of metal could be opened, revealing a small photo of Emily and her mother, when Emily was around six years of age.
"Mom…"
She put on the necklace, walking downstairs after that, there wasn't anything else of use for her, but these objects held a strong emotional connection for her, she couldn't let go of them.
"Hey Emily, look! I found something, what's this?"
She heard Fran's voice, as she walked downstairs.
"Huh? What is it?"
"It looks like a guitar? It's kind of covered with moss though…"
"A-A guitar?!"
Emily went to look at it, it was indeed the guitar her aunt had left for her!
"I-It's really my guitar?! But I thought dad broke it…"
As Emily grabbed the guitar, the girls walked to her side, curious about it.
"So can you play it?" Nyx wondered.
"I… don't know it's all mossy and stuff, let me clean it first…" Emilly said.
She quickly cleansed it with whatever she could, and Nyx and Fran ended helping her out a bit more.
Ultimately, one it looked fine enough, she tried playing it.
Luckily, all the strings were fine, and none had snapped, almost miraculously.
She moved her hands dexterously, the sound of the guitar was relaxing, making the girls feel a bit less stressed.
It was a soothing, if not slightly melancholy melody.
It felt relaxing to hear it, and the girls closed their eyes, imagining themselves playing together in a plaza.
Their parents were with them, and they talked and giggled together, happily.
The melody went on for a while, and as Emily and the girls felt lost in the music, they quickly snapped back to reality.
"R-Right! We have to get going…" Nyx said. "That was amazing though! Emily you're so talented!"
"A-Ah! R-Really? You think so?" Emily blushed a bit giggling.
"Yeah you were great, I could almost imagine a whole thing from hearing that melody…" Fran nodded.
"It was amazing," Alma smiled.
"T-Thanks… It means more than you think… to hear that," Emily sighed.
