Reawakening with Limitless Mana-Chapter 58: Finding route
Chapter 58: Finding route
Arthur lay on his bed, eyes fixed on the ceiling. His mind was blank, yet restless.
Were these Gods being cautious... or just fools?
Aurelia—the eldest of them all—could see the future. She held dominion over fate itself and stood above the other deities in both power and wisdom.
With her authority, a single blessing wasn’t just a gift. It could turn into a curse. Not just for the one who received it, but for the entire world.
Arthur doubted someone like Aurelia would act without reason. She wasn’t a fool. After thousands of years guiding the balance of the world, her decisions were rarely impulsive.
She was waiting for something. Preparing for something.
She had already seen what was coming. Whatever storm the world was about to face... she had already glimpsed it. And perhaps, that was why—after all this time—she finally chose to bless someone.
But then the real question echoed in Arthur’s mind: if she knows the future, why doesn’t she push the other Gods to act? To bless more warriors? To prepare the world for what’s to come?
She talks of peace, of protecting the balance, yet she stays still when the world is clearly unraveling.
It wasn’t ignorance. It was fear.
Aurelia, for all her might, could not see everything. She could not read the future tied to Darkness.
Argrouth stood beyond her reach—beyond her gaze, her threads, her control.
He was chaos wrapped in flesh. And those who devoted themselves to him followed his word without question. Their loyalty was absolute, their actions impossible to foresee.
And so, Aurelia was trapped. A deity bound by limits.
She could not touch the future shaped by Argrouth. She could not predict the hearts already claimed by him.
All she could do... was wait.
Wait, and place her hopes in the few she called the Chosen Ones.
"Haah, so... Lily."
[Yes, host!]
She sounded way too cheerful for a time like this.
"Who am I supposed to protect? Where is she? And who’s after her?"
[The one targeting the Chosen One... even the Supreme One can’t identify them. I’m sorry, but I can’t give you a name. All I know is that she’s currently in the southern neighboring nation—the land surrounded by water. Durnhalm. She’ll be going on an excursion in six days. That’s when the attack will happen.]
Arthur let out a groan. Of course, there was no direct portal to another nation. Crossing borders required approval from the administrator, and getting that was a nightmare unless you had someone as powerful as a Duke backing you.
And traveling there by foot or any other means? Useless. He’d barely arrive in seven days, maybe less if he pushed himself, but that wouldn’t leave him any time to prepare.
As his mind turned over the impossible task of getting to her, another question came up.
"...Is she someone important?"
He hoped not. If she were some noble or royal, he’d have no chance of staying close to her. And when the danger came, dragging her out of harm’s way would be close to impossible.
But, of course, things couldn’t go his way.
[She’s the only Princess of the Kingdom. Elowen Gravemark.]
"..."
A Princess. He was supposed to get close to a Princess and protect her? Just great.
Arthur let out a heavy breath and sat up. There was no going back to sleep after that. His thoughts were spinning too fast, pulling him deeper into the weight of what lay ahead.
He lifted his hand and summoned a small orb of water above his head. It hovered silently, then split into smaller ones. A fish. A whale. A dragon. Each shape flowed smoothly into the next, rippling with soft blue light.
This was how he trained. Even in the middle of the night, even with his mind full of worries. The more he practiced his Spiritual Magic, the more natural it became—until the spirits would respond like a second breath, without hesitation.
He couldn’t afford to waste time.
He stepped out of the room and approached the door across from him.
*Knock*
"Mom, you awake?"
"Yes, barely."
He stepped inside upon hearing her groggy voice and found her eyes slightly red, seemingly awoken because of the knock.
"Sorry to disturb you." He apologized as he sat down on the dresser stool and asked, "Dad will return in four days, right?"
Virelle nodded as she got up from the bed and asked him, "Want some tea?"
Arthur brought her to the couch and told her to sit, "I will make some."
She sweetly smiled at him and sat down.
Arthur started boiling water and handed some cookies to his mum, as he heard her saying, "Kevin will give his written and practical exams the day after tomorrow. And Aston would return using the teleportation portal the next day."
For the first time, she didn’t wish to see her son returning since if Kevin returns, then it means he has failed the exams.
And Virelle doesn’t want to see her child sad. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
"Here, have this and improve your mood." He handed her the tea before sitting beside her with one cup in his hand as well.
Virelle was staring at the family picture hanging on the wall opposite them, as she said, "I...recently received a letter from my mother."
Arthur was shocked, "After so long? I thought she would contact you right away."
Virelle chuckled, "You are surprised about that?"
Arthur shrugged, "I mean, your pathetic father had her caged in that house and kept a watch on her every movement. And from what you have told, your mother always adored you."
Virelle faintly smiled, "Yes...but she needed some time to recover from his loss. Despite how he treated her, she was devoted to him."
Arthur didn’t react to that.
Tolerating torture in the name of love could never be justified in his eyes. However, commenting on that might hurt his mother’s feelings.
"So...are you going to meet her?" He asked after a brief pause.
Virelle hummed as she got up, "Not now...but there is a possibility." She brushed it off, but since she didn’t give any concrete answer, it meant she had the intention, but she was unsure of the other side.
Well, if she really wants to, Arthur could bring her there, and he was sure his father wouldn’t stop her.
Virelle soon entered the kitchen and asked, "What would you like to have for dinner?"
Arthur shrugged, "Anything works."
He got up from the couch and approached the main door.
His eyes remained affixed on the beautiful garden before him while his mind was focused on the target he needed to protect.
The first challenge was how to reach her.
Putting the normal and easiest route aside, he thought about what other means could be to reach Durnhalm?
Threaten the teleportation security and force them to send him? Nah, that would be too much hassle. The security at the teleportation portals is quite strict, and there is a chance for them to track him down.
So, yes. Very risky.
’I need to go out and find the possible routes.’ Turning towards his mum, he said,
"I need to visit Atinberg in the evening to bring some books. Do you need something from there?"
It wasn’t the first time for Arthur to go there alone, that’s why she didn’t stop him and simply said, "Bring me some cheesecake and pudding from Anna’s store."
Arthur hummed before he went to his room to prepare.
This was going to be tedious.
