Reawakening with Limitless Mana-Chapter 39: Recovered
Chapter 39: Recovered
For the next few days, everything was going smoothly.
Yes, the Baron was still not well, but thanks to the herbs Arthur brought and the expertise of the Head Priest, Aston’s health was improving gradually.
The Head Priest used to work as an army medic in the past so he had a vast experience in this field.
He has the experience to brew the remedy with the most basic ingredients; however, here, Arthur has always brought the best materials, so it eased his job. And not to talk about, his healing skills were something even Arthur commended.
He wasn’t a fake healer. He was a well-seasoned doctor who knew what he had to do to help his patient recover.
Currently, they were having tea at the dining table when Virelle asked, "He hasn’t woken up yet...is there anything to worry about?"
Bowman shook his head, "His body has healed and he has recovered the lost blood. However, after going through the drastic medication it would take some time for his body to adapt to the changes. Not today but in a few days, he would surely wake up."
His tone of certainty gave a lot of relief to the lady of the house.
Kevin further asked, "What about his legs?" The family came to know after close inspection from Bowman that his knees were crushed to near dust—something that made Virelle sob.
That’s why, Kevin was worried that his father might not be able to walk again.
However, "Oh, they were healed, you need not to worry. Your brother provided me with everything to bring a near-dead person to life." Bowman had a warm smile on his face.
Arthur wasn’t here at the moment, he was with his father.
Bowman turned toward the lady and said, "You have earned a fortune in the face of your two children. I have never encountered such children who behave so maturely at such a young age and retain calm even in the face of crisis."
Kevin felt slightly embarrassed being praised.
Virelle rested her hand on her son’s head as she said, "We must have partaken in world peace in our previous lives to be blessed with them."
Bowman shared the smile.
...
Arthur was sitting before the bed and was looking at his father.
Compared to four days ago, he appeared much better. Arthur examined his body, and he could tell that Saint Bowman had done a great job.
Although he hadn’t woken up yet, Arthur knew that sooner than later, he would open his eyes.
A weight was lifted off his chest.
He has seldom felt so restless in his last life. It was the same feeling when Clarsen had to commit a mass murder and involve innocent people in it. Although he wasn’t committing any crime this time, the heavy feeling was the same.
However, after torturing the former Viscount and assessing his Father’s condition, Arthur felt much better.
’Thank you, Tinker.’ He has been quite busy these days to thank her. But now that his mind was calm he remembered how helpful the little spirit was.
Until now, they haven’t received anything from the Viscount. The news was already out that someone had annihilated the private army of the former viscount, but the current head of the Ashenford family has been completely silent about it.
’Does he feel relieved that I removed a stain from his family or is he planning something?’ Arthur cannot be sure; however, he cannot take any risk as well.
He was thinking of making a round trip to assess the situation there. If things come down to it, Arthur might take his family and live in a secluded town.
Arthur has slaughtered thousands before, so going against hundreds wasn’t something that could affect him emotionally. However, the person who might be targeting him this time was an active Noble who had the support of several other noble families and the King himself.
Arthur would be in deep trouble if things progressed in that way. That’s why he would rather choose a safer option.
’But still though...I thought I had him...’ His mind suddenly drifted toward the battle against Ross.
Arthur initially thought that he would deal with him with just his combat skills. However, he was proven wrong as the man showed quite exceptional magic control, and his fighting style was quite brute.
Arthur’s body has had limitations since he was still ten years old. That’s why, in the end, he had to depend on his spell.
Water prison is a very interesting spell. From the inside, it appears to be an endless ocean where one continues to swim without reaching the shore.
"A-Art ..." Arthur’s train of thought was broken as he heard a weak voice.
He instantly approached the bed and held the extended hand, "Father." He responded, his tone holding the relief he felt upon seeing his eyes open.
"W-Where am I..." He asked, barely able to move his eyes. If not for Arthur supporting his hand he might have lost strength to keep holding up.
"You are safe. You are at home." He softly relayed, trying to assure the man as much as he could.
Aston visibly showed relief as he momentarily closed his eyes and asked, "What about your mother?" freewēbnoveℓ.com
"Safe and waiting. Waiting for you to recover."
Aston’s lips curved slightly, "Guess you came to save me again..."
Arthur nodded wordlessly.
"Did your Mom cry?"
Arthur nodded, "A lot..." His voice trembled slightly
"Is your brother okay?"
A shake of his head, "No...he tried hiding it but I saw him weeping like a kid."
Aston weakly raised his hand to cup his younger son’s cheek and asked, "Did I make you worried?"
Arthur’s eyes turned moist as he complained, "Coming home half dead...what do you think..."
A very faint but warm smile extended his lips, as he said, "Forgive your father...I will be careful from now on."
"You better be." Arthur wiped his tears and helped him rest his hand on the bed before he went to give the news to his family members.
A terrible curse had nearly torn their family apart, but thankfully, they fought it off and overcame the dark omen.
