Reawakening with Limitless Mana-Chapter 28: Want to meet again
Chapter 28: Want to meet again
The man grabbed the little girl and ran as fast as he could.
Everything turned into a mess. They were inches away from taking all the children from the town and selling them to the trader. They would have gotten the funds to continue to grow their gang...but then a nasty brat arrived and ruined everything!
"Shit! Don’t move, you b*tch!" The man hit the girl on her back, making her cry, as he continued to ride the horse away and away from the town.
’Forget about them...if only I get a good buyer for this girl...’ He got his hands on an awakened. Someone who has gotten the Blessing!
There are several buyers of magicians nowadays. Some want to train them to build a perfect weapon. Some just want to use them because of their body and some have other motives.
But the man didn’t give a sh*t about what they did to the girl. If only he could get at least five thousand gold coins for this lass he would start another gang. He knew the locations of a few prisons across the western region and there was a town as well, which was scarcely guarded.
Westmere.
If he could kill the Baron working there then he would be able to take the whole town under his command!
’I just need to sell this kid and get some advanced artifact-ah!’ his train of thought was broken as suddenly a stone hit his head and he lost his balance.
*NEIIIIIGH*
The horse’s rein was pulled and the animal came to a halt abruptly.
The little girl fell off the horse before the man jumped off too.
"Who the hell threw that?! Show your face coward!" He has already summoned a fireball to slaughter whoever appears before him.
He was really not in the mood to play games now, so whoever appears is dead meat.
The man moved around, one hand engulfed in flames and the other one holding a short sword.
The little one was trembling all over, not only in fear but also because of exhaustion.
Even if she wanted to run away, her body didn’t allow her.
Not only could she not stop the man from taking her, he even killed her mother.
’I am so pathetic....couldn’t use my powers when it mattered the most.’ she gritted her teeth, tears welled up in her eyes
She didn’t know where the man was taking her, but after what happened, she didn’t even care.
"Who goes there?!" He threw the fireball over the boulder, upon seeing a figure.
However, it crashed against nothing but the rock...there was no one.
"Ah~pathetic." A voice arrived from behind.
The man instantly turned on his feet and launched another attack without thinking.
The fireball flew through the air at a rapid pace.
The girl’s eyes widened upon seeing another kid there, his face inches away from the fireball.
But then,
"Huh?" The man was baffled to see the fireball extinguishing just before the boy’s face.
"H-How---oh, f*ck you!" He cursed and launched another flaming orb, this time bigger and more dense.
The black-haired boy heaved a sigh and pointed his index finger toward the incoming attack.
And again,
*SIZZZZZZZ* freewebnøvel.coɱ
The flames died all of a sudden as if he was negating his spells!
"Who the f*ck are you?!" By now, the man had already realized that the boy in front of him was no regular brat. He was an awakened and someone who had a superior ability.
He needs to be careful or this might turn out ugly for him.
"Truthfully, thousands of children get kidnapped and sold every day. It’s nothing new," He casually commented, "I can’t save all of them. I have a more significant goal than being a messiah."
The man gritted his teeth, ’What the hell is he spouting?!’ his blade remained tightly clutched in his hand—ready to slash once the kid was in the range.
In response to that, Arthur very casually approached the man while saying, "But this girl...my brother wants to save her. Dunno why, but it is what it is." He shrugged.
"Then tell your brother you’ve disappointed him!" the man snarled before swinging his blade low, aiming to slice through Arthur’s knees.
But Arthur moved—quick and precise. He jumped, high and clean, landing right on the flat of the man’s blade.
"Ugh!" the man gasped, staggering.
Arthur might’ve only been ten, but his full weight dropped like a stone. The man’s arm buckled from the sudden force. He couldn’t hold the sword.
The blade clattered to the ground.
Now they were face to face—Arthur standing firm, and the man wide-eyed in shock.
There was no time to react.
THWAP!
Arthur’s palm cracked across his face with terrifying strength. The sound echoed.
Even the girl winced. That slap could’ve knocked a grown soldier off his feet.
And it did.
The man was hurled sideways, his body spinning out of control. His cheek felt like it had been set on fire—red-hot, stinging, and numb at the same time.
Thud.
He crashed into the dirt, groaning, completely stunned. He tried to move—but nothing worked right. His limbs felt heavy. His thoughts scattered.
He looked up, trying to find where the boy went.
But the spot was empty.
"Huh?" he whispered, confused.
Before he could turn fully, he felt it—cold fingers gripping his hair from behind. His head was yanked backward hard.
And there, against the night sky, stood Arthur.
The moon behind him glowed like a pale crown... or a halo of death.
"Aah! W-wait—!" the man screamed in panic.
But Arthur didn’t wait.
He lifted his leg and pressed the sole of his foot down on the man’s lower teeth, holding it in place.
His left hand still gripped the man’s hair tight, pulling his head back—stretching his neck. Then his right hand reached forward... and grabbed his upper jaw.
The man’s eyes widened in horror.
Arthur leaned close, voice like ice.
"When I was in the military," he said softly, "my boys were once tortured like this. I hated it. But I always wondered... what does it feel like to break a jaw?"
The man flailed, his arms thrashing helplessly.
"Stop! Stop! Please!" he choked out, but it came out as nothing more than a garbled sob.
Then it started.
Slow.
Steady.
The pressure.
The pain.
The ripping.
His scream tore through the night—raw, broken, and filled with agony. Tears rolled down his face as his jaw stretched further than it was ever meant to.
Muscles tore. Skin cracked. His mouth was being forced apart—bit by bit.
Arthur’s eyes stayed cold. Unblinking.
And then—
CRUNCH.
Something snapped.
Something deep.
The man’s jaw split open like a broken door. It dangled, ruined, and crooked.
"GAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!" he shrieked.
The pain was unbearable. His mind screamed louder than his mouth could. He cried like a child—tears streaming, nose running, everything lost to the agony.
Arthur stepped back, letting go at last.
The man collapsed, twitching. His jaw hung useless, and his cries had turned to gasping sobs.
Arthur sighed, "Well, you surely aren’t a militant." Deciding to stop the torture because there was a child around, he conjured a water needle and sent it into the man’s head—shutting off his brain
The cries died and the man’s movements stopped—dead and gone.
Arthur turned towards the girl, expecting her to be shocked or maybe fainted by the scene...but he was startled to see the starry expression in her eyes.
He approached the girl slowly, intending to liberate her and go check on Kevin.
As he slit the ropes, he heard her faint whisper, "Can I be as strong as you?"
Her voice was rough, maybe because of crying, but it couldn’t be hidden that she was quite curious.
Arthur hummed, "You can be if you learn how to use your power." Looking into her amber-red eyes, he added, "Seek the help of the church. They will help you learn more about yourself." Saying so he got up, intending to march back at the town, when suddenly he felt a slight tug at his shirt.
"Hmm?" Looking down, he found her expression turning a little lonely as she asked,
"Will I see you again?"
"You want to meet me again?" Arthur was surprised.
The girl enthusiastically nodded.
Arthur heaved a sigh...he didn’t know whether they would meet again or not.
So rather than forcing himself to fix a destination, he gave her the name of a place that she might never be able to reach.
"The Obsidian Spire. I will meet you there in five years."
At that time, the girl didn’t even know what Obsidian Spire was...but if reaching there meant she could meet him again...
"I will be waiting for you there."
