Chapter 35: 35: Saying Goodbye

---

Luna dashed in, blades drawn. "I’m ending this now!"

Roddick countered with another wild move called, "Butt Blast Barrage!"

Silver shockwaves erupted from his backside in rhythmic bursts, each one sending plumes of glowing dust toward Kai and Luna.

Kai rolled behind a log, wheezing with laughter. "Are you serious?! Butt Blast! What type of cringe name is this? Why didn’t you ass blow up?"

"Ha Ha Ha! It’s hilarious."

"Stop laughing and help!" Luna shouted, parrying one of Roddick’s ridiculous aerial kicks.

Kai stood, channeling his aura. "Fine. Let’s spank the pervert. Maybe then his ass will blow up!"

Luna’s blades glimmered in the morning sun as she darted around Roddick’s swinging tail. Her movements were fluid, deadly, every step guided by grace and efficiency. Roddick, on the other hand, fought like a theater clown with divine muscles, twirling dramatically and shouting out names of attacks that sounded like bathroom humor fused with martial arts.

"Tail Slam Serenade!"

His glowing backside whipped around with a shriek of wind, narrowly missing Luna and flattening a tree behind her.

"You could have just said ’tail attack,’ you know!" Kai called out, dashing to her side.

"Do you think he names his moves while shaving his armpits?" Luna shot back between breaths.

Kai laughed. "That explains the ridiculous titles."

Roddick growled in frustration. "Mock me all you like, insects and traitors, but you won’t laugh after this! You... Luna, no matter what, today, I will mount you and make you pregnant. Then you will have no choice but to Moonbond with me."

He launched skyward again. "Royal Moonburst Butt Bloom!"

He flipped upside down midair and released a sonic shockwave from his rear.

The entire forest trembled. A chorus of birds abandoned their nests. Kai and Luna were flung backward by the shockwave, rolling across the underbrush and coming to a stop in a heap of limbs and groans.

Kai coughed, dust billowing from his carapace. "Okay. That one had force."

"More reason to end this before he unleashes the ’Flush of Destiny,’" Luna muttered, wiping blood from her lip.

Kai stood, his aura flaring. "You’re not alone in this."

Luna turned to him, eyes glimmering. "You sure?"

"Just make sure he doesn’t get behind me."

"Oh, I’ll take care of his butt."

Together, they charged. Luna zipped forward, twin blades slicing in a cross-pattern. Roddick spun to block, but Kai was already beneath him, sweeping his legs.

Roddick stumbled and for a second, his defenses dropped. Luna didn’t miss. "Moonstep Waltz!"

She vanished in a shower of silver motes and reappeared behind him, slamming both blades into his back.

ARGH!!! Roddick screamed in pain.

Kai jumped, using Tiny Tank to harden his limbs, and punched Roddick square in his butt.

Crack!

The four-star beastkin stumbled back, blood spilling from his nose.

"Y...You dare?! I was born under the sacred moonflower! I am a once in a century genius!"

Kai dusted himself off. "Yeah? So what? I was born in a graveyard filled with dead bodies."

Roddick roared, aura flaring wildly. "You insects... you dare you mock me? you’ll regret this!"

He surged forward, spinning again. His tail now glowed with unstable energy.

Kai’s eyes widened. "That’s not a normal move."

"Moonlight Moonflush Mode!" Roddick screamed. The tail whipped out like a silver cannon.

Luna grabbed Kai and yanked him backward. The impact zone exploded in a glittering cloud of gas and pressure, blasting a crater into the earth.

Both of them tumbled into the bushes.

Kai gasped. "What... was that?!"

"His final attack," Luna said, her breath ragged. "He’s burning all his aura."

Kai peeked through the foliage.

Roddick stood in the middle of the clearing, panting, tail limp behind him, sweat glistening down his chest.

"He’s exhausted."

"So am I," Luna muttered, clutching her ribs.

Kai looked at her, sweaty, bruised, bloodied, and still beautiful and sexy looking. His jaw clenched.

"Get on."

Luna blinked. "What?"

"I’ll carry you. We’re leaving." Kai replied.

"But—" Luna hesitated.

"No buts. Let’s go. He is very strong."

With no time to argue, Luna climbed onto his back, wrapping her arms around his shoulders. Kai activated Reflex Mode and darted into the trees.

Roddick turned slowly, eyes wide. "No... come back! Our love is eternal! Come baaaaaa—"

His voice faded behind them.

They ran through the dense foliage for what felt like miles. The sun was rising higher now, casting light through the leaves like spears of gold. Birds scattered as they passed, startled by the blur of moonlight and chitin.

Eventually, Luna tapped his shoulder.

"There," she whispered, pointing to a small hill surrounded by flowering vines. "Drop me there. I’ll be fine."

Kai slowed and stopped at the base of the hill, gently helping her down.

Luna sat on the moss, breathing hard. "You didn’t have to help."

"I know," Kai said, dusting his arms. "But I couldn’t let you fight alone."

She looked at him with a strange expression. "You really are different, ant."

Kai smirked. "I’ve been called worse."

Both started laughing at the joke. Luna leaned back against the rock, eyes fluttering shut. "I’ll be okay here. I’ve got places I can vanish to. You... you should go before he comes again."

Kai nodded. "Will you be alright?"

"I’ve survived worse. Don’t worry about me."

He stepped away, looking over the forest. "Then I hope we meet again."

Luna cracked an eye open. "Next time, don’t drool on looking at my body. Also, No, nose bleeding."

Kai blushed. "I told you it’s an internal injury. I am not a pervert!"

"Sure," he replied.

As he turned to leave, her voice followed him.

"Thank you, Kai." Luna touches his hand and says: "We’ll meet again, handsome ant."

He paused... and then vanished into the woods.

A few moments later...

The soft glow of sun filtered through the dense canopy, dappled patterns of sunlight swaying gently across the forest floor. Mist hung low between the trunks, and every branch Kai passed seemed to sigh with dew and wind. Birds called above. Faint rustles stirred below.

The forest was quiet—too quiet.
