Pregnant During An Apocalypse [BL]-Chapter 169 - Walkie talkie
Chapter 169: Chapter 169 - Walkie talkie
Yunfeng and Shao took off toward the rising black smoke, their feet pounding against the cracked pavement. From the warehouse, it had seemed close—almost like a short sprint.
But as they ran, reality hit them like a truck.
"This is way farther than it looked," Yunfeng wheezed, gripping his knees for a second.
Shao, barely winded, side-eyed him. "Seriously? You have superpowers and you’re out of breath?"
Yunfeng straightened and shot him a glare. "My flames don’t make me a track star, asshole."
They darted behind an abandoned car, pressing themselves against its rusted frame as a dozen zombies ran past, disappearing into a nearby alley.
Shao glanced over at Yunfeng. "I still don’t like you, by the way. You broke my best friend’s heart and left him pregnant."
Yunfeng tilted his head up with an amused smile. "Good detail to know while we’re running for our lives together."
Shao rolled his eyes. "Just stating facts."
The street ahead cleared. They took off again, silent, fast, focused. But after a few minutes, Yunfeng suddenly stopped.
Shao skidded to a halt and grabbed his wrist. "What the hell are you—"
"Look!" Yunfeng pointed.
Lying on the ground, half-covered in dust, was a bicycle.
Shao followed his gaze, frowning. "So?"
"Do you know how to ride one?" Yunfeng asked, hopeful.
Shao sighed and grabbed the bike, pulling it upright. "Of course I do."
Yunfeng grinned and immediately jumped onto the back seat.
Shao started pedaling, the old bicycle creaking under their weight. It was faster than running—but not fast enough.
The zombies that had been idly loafing around suddenly turned their heads. Their dead, bloody eyes locked onto them.
And then—they charged.
"Oh, for fuck’s sake," Shao hissed, pedaling harder.
Yunfeng glanced back. More and more zombies were pouring onto the street, their decayed hands reaching out.
"Okay... I’m going to make this go very fast," Yunfeng said. "Can you control it?"
Shao doubtfully glanced back at him. "I can try?"
"Good enough."
Yunfeng slammed his palms together. Blue flames burst from his hands, propelling the bike forward like a freaking rocket.
"WHOA!!!" Shao screamed, the bicycle lurching forward at insane speed.
The tires skidded, the metal frame shaking violently. Shao struggled to keep the bike steady as they shot down the street like a bullet.
"THIS IS TOO FAST!!!" Shao yelled, his voice barely audible over the rushing wind.
"SHUT UP AND STEER!!" Yunfeng shouted back, laughing like a maniac.
Behind them, the zombies shrieked—but they were already fading into the distance.
For a moment, it almost felt fun.
Until Shao realized one very important detail.
"YUNFENG!!" he screamed.
"WHAT?!"
"HOW DO WE STOP THIS THING?!?!"
Shao’s screech of panic barely reached Yunfeng over the deafening whoosh of blue flames.
Yunfeng glanced forward. The streets, once empty, were suddenly not so empty anymore.
"Uh... Shit."
Up ahead, a wrecked truck was blocking most of the road, with only a tiny gap on the side barely wide enough for a bicycle.
"STEER, STEER, STEER!!" Yunfeng yelled, tightening his grip on Shao’s waist.
"I’M TRYING, YOU IDIOT!"
The bike veered wildly, skidding toward the narrow opening.
Shao yanked the handlebars to the left, barely avoiding smashing headfirst into the truck. The bicycle tilted dangerously, one wheel lifting off the ground for a second before crashing back down.
"STOP WITH THE FLAMES!" Shao shrieked.
"OH, RIGHT!" Yunfeng clapped his hands together—the flames vanished.
Which immediately caused another problem.
Without the flames keeping them moving at super speed, the bike lost balance. The front wheel wobbled violently.
"NONONO—"
Shao and Yunfeng screamed in unison as the bike flipped forward.
For a split second, they were airborne.
Then—CRASH.
Yunfeng tumbled head over heels, hitting the pavement with a loud THUD.
Shao landed somewhere to the right, rolling across the ground like a ragdoll.
For a few painful seconds, neither of them moved.
Yunfeng groaned, lying face-down on the ground.
"Ow."
Shao, still sprawled on his back, raised one shaking hand. "I hate you."
Yunfeng grunted, pushing himself up. "That was... effective, though."
"I. Hate. You."
A low, wet growl echoed behind them.
Both of them froze.
Slowly, Yunfeng turned his head.
A single zombie stood not even five feet away, its twisted, bloody face staring directly at them.
Its mouth opened.
Then—it lunged.
"FUCK, MOVE!" Shao shoved Yunfeng, rolling to the side just as the zombie collapsed onto the spot where they had been lying.
Yunfeng, on instinct, threw up a hand.
FWOOSH.
A bright blue fireball shot from his palm, hitting the zombie in the chest.
The creature screamed, staggering backward as flames erupted across its body.
It took all of three seconds before the thing collapsed into a smoldering heap.
Shao stared.
Yunfeng, panting, lowered his hand. "Phew... problem solved."
"PROBLEM SOLVED?!?!" Shao sputtered, pointing at the burning corpse. "YOU JUST SET A FUCKING FIRE, DUMBASS!!!"
Yunfeng blinked.
Then, very slowly, he turned around.
Behind them, the wrecked truck they had almost crashed into?
It was also on fire.
"Oh," Yunfeng said.
"Oh? OH?!?" Shao’s voice cracked. "WE ARE GOING TO DIE."
The fire spread rapidly, licking across the old truck’s fuel tank.
Yunfeng’s face drained of color.
"RUN."
"NO SHIT!!"
They bolted just as the truck exploded behind them, sending a shockwave of heat and debris ripping through the street.
Yunfeng ducked, covering his head. "OKAY, THAT WAS NOT PART OF THE PLAN!"
Shao, still running for his goddamn life, threw him a murderous glare. "I SWEAR TO GOD, IF WE SURVIVE THIS, I AM GOING TO KILL YOU MYSELF!!"
They didn’t stop running.
Somewhere behind them, the flames raged, the explosion drawing more zombies into the street.
Yunfeng huffed, trying to keep up. "On the bright side, now they won’t be chasing the warehouse group..."
Shao didn’t even dignify that with a response.
The Crashed Chopper
By the time Yunfeng and Shao reached the crash site, they were both out of breath, covered in sweat, and possibly reconsidering their life choices.
The wreckage was still smoldering. Blackened metal and twisted rotor blades jutted out from the ground, half-buried in rubble. A thick, acrid smell filled the air—a mix of burning fuel, charred metal, and... something else.
Something rotting.
Yunfeng stopped short, eyes darting around the wreckage. "You see any survivors?"
Shao swallowed, scanning the scene. The crash had flattened a few nearby buildings, leaving behind a trail of debris. Bodies were strewn across the ground—some burned beyond recognition, some still strapped into their seats, and some... moving.
Or rather, twitching.
A muffled groan came from beneath a collapsed piece of metal.
Yunfeng’s heart jumped. He rushed forward, trying to lift the debris. "Hello? Can you hear me?"
A weak voice came from underneath. "H—Help..."
Shao immediately moved to the other side, gripping the metal with both hands. "Together. On three."
Yunfeng nodded.
"One—Two—THREE!"
They heaved.
The metal shifted, revealing a soldier pinned beneath it. His leg was crushed, but he was still alive—barely. His face was bloodied, and his uniform was scorched, but his eyes snapped open as soon as he saw them.
"D-Don’t..." he gasped.
Yunfeng frowned. "Don’t what?"
The soldier’s lips trembled. His eyes darted behind them.
Shao, instinctively, turned his head.
And froze.
Behind them, three figures were staggering toward the wreckage. Former soldiers. Their bodies were riddled with burns and shrapnel wounds, their skin peeling, their mouths dripping with blackened blood.
They weren’t alive.
They weren’t even human anymore.
"Shit," Yunfeng whispered.
The zombies lunged.
Shao yanked Yunfeng back, kicking one of the creatures in the chest. It stumbled but didn’t fall.
Yunfeng thrust out his hand—
FOOM.
A blast of blue fire erupted, engulfing one of the undead soldiers. The flames ate through its uniform, sending it screaming to the ground.
But the other two? Completely unfazed.
One swung its arm, nearly clawing Yunfeng’s face.
Shao slammed his foot into its knee, making it buckle. He grabbed a metal rod from the wreckage and drove it straight through its skull.
It twitched, shuddered—then collapsed.
The last zombie lunged at Yunfeng.
"Yunfeng, MOVE!" Shao shouted.
Yunfeng barely had time to react before a gunshot rang out.
The wounded soldier shot his comrade whilst crying. "I’m sorry... I’m so sorry..."
Yunfeng ran up to him. "did Shin Kailun come with you?"
The soldier shook his head. "no why do you ask..."
"good... do you have walkie talkie with you. I need to contact him,"
The soldier handed it to them. Suddenly a loud sound of something being crushed was heard behind them.
"go... go don’t stay here.."
Yunfeng tried to carry the soldier up but the man was too heavy and muscular.
Shao grabbed him. "its useless come!" they took off and hid in the corner.
