OMG!!! My Crippled Husband is a Hot, Powerful CEO-Chapter 149 – Please, You Can’t Marry Him
Chapter 149: Chapter 149 – Please, You Can’t Marry Him
"I might have to go to extremes to get what I want from him," Violet said as she sipped the black coffee Joanna put before her.
She usually liked it with sugar, but this time, the bitterness was a replica of exactly what she was going through.
"What do you mean by extreme means?" Joanna asked curiously. She wasn’t as strong as Violet but was willing to support in any way.
"As much as I hate him, I might have to sleep with him to get him to sign over everything. I promised him tonight."
Joanna’s heart sank, and she understood the reason Violet was hurting so much. The girl loved one-night stands where they wouldn’t meet again, but somehow, she got to meet Aiden again, and he became the epitome of her problems.
To get over him, she used Bennet as a shield before realizing she was slowly falling in love with him.
Then the news about his marriage popped up, shattering her altogether. This was the worst feeling ever, and it happened just when she was trying to turn over a new leaf.
For the first time in her life, she tried to get over her addiction to sex by abstaining from it for a period of time, but who knew that her plan to turn over a new leaf would hurt her deeply in her heart.
"Isn’t there another way? There should be. Let’s think about something else," Joanna proposed strongly. Violet gave her full attention, just as Jack knocked on the door and brought them lunch Alex arranged for them.
As they ate, Joanna put her cards on the table.
"Why not meet up with him and give me a signal to call you? I can even show up and steal you away," Joanna said seriously. Violet considered the suggestion.
"Alright, I will give it a try, but I have to leave now because I have to get a few things done before meeting him again tonight. Thanks for lunch," Violet said in a saddened tone. Joanna embraced her tightly.
"I love you so much, Violet. I hope we are able to help this woman."
Violet smiled, though it was a bitter one. "I owe it to her to make it up to her."
After she left, Joanna tried to focus on work, which wasn’t easy after being catapulted from the position of an officer to that of a CEO.
Work was more challenging than she expected it to be, as she had to set new structures in place and set meeting times for her managers and officers.
However, Alex had been of great support, capitalizing on their marriage and his declaration of the Baker’s Corporation being his to give her the needed stability.
Joanna was also working on rebranding and changing the company name, which added to her hassle.
Alex had been busy due to issues with Salvador’s men, especially when Aiden brought a report.
"We shall need a trusted person in New Orleans. One of our men has been gunned down," Aiden reported. Alex was greatly saddened by the news.
"How did it happen?" It had been a long time since he lost any of his men, so this news destroyed his mood.
"They went against the Santiago family, but a few were injured and one of them died. There is a rise of another gang, so I want to go and help," Aiden concluded, but Alex felt there was more to the whole thing.
Mostly, Aiden would want to stay with him unless all options were utilized, but as it turned out, he wanted to be the first point of contact.
"You sound as if you are running away," Alex pointed out. Aiden put on a saddened look. "It’s for the best."
"It’s about Violet," Alex directly exposed him, expecting him to deny it, but Aiden didn’t.
"Well, I messed up, and it’s too late to win her heart."
Shaking his head, Alex thought otherwise. "From the looks of it, she would be single again, especially after knowing the kind of asshole her man is."
Though Aiden messed up, the fact that he had fallen in love with a woman for the first time gave Alex hope, and he wanted Aiden to make amends.
Also, with Violet and Joanna being best friends, Aiden and Violet’s relationship would always keep them together.
"She hates me now, and it’s so hard to see her with another man. It’s better I leave." Aiden was deflated, but Alex pushed further.
"Why don’t you go see her one last time? If things don’t work out, then you have my blessing."
Aiden thought it was a good suggestion and agreed. "Alright. I will try to see her before I leave, but what about Dion? Have you heard from her?"
Alex was saddened by the mention of his sister’s name and shook his head. "She’s still upset, but I will go spend a month with her when things are better."
"You should do that early because if things get bloody in New Orleans, then we might rely on your help."
For a moment, Alex had lived like a normal person, away from the typical mafia life, but the reality of blood and bullets saddened his heart a little.
Joanna could still not come to terms with the fact that he was Salvador, and he feared that after the contract, she might not even want to see him again.
"I will try to see her sooner, but I just want everything to settle first," he said seriously. Aiden nodded.
"Let me try the places Violet likes. I hope she gives me a chance."
Alex smiled. "I hope so too."
Aiden didn’t have to search for Violet, as he secretly had a tracker planted on her car.
He kept track of events in New Orleans, and two days later, the signal sent him to a luxurious restaurant, and fear crept into his heart as he guessed she might be with Bennett.
Reaching there and right at the entrance, he witnessed the most heart-breaking scene.
