OMG!!! My Crippled Husband is a Hot, Powerful CEO-Chapter 137 - Tie her up
Chapter 137: Chapter 137 - Tie her up
Alex smiled, though the smile didn’t quite reach his eyes. This puzzle was the easiest he had ever solved.
He was looking for an intruder and now, there was one trying to escape amidst all the chaos in the mansion, making her the perfect suspect.
"Bring her. I would like to ask her some questions," he instructed.
Interrogations usually took more time than necessary and Aiden could not sit around and watch when Violet needed immediate attention.
As much as he wanted to punish her, this was not the time because she was in this situation because of Alex’s despicable brother.
"I’ll take her upstairs," Aiden said, already headed up the stairs, feeling uneasy about Violet’s actions. Jack went to fetch the maid, but Alex was disturbed.
He wanted to be present to ensure nothing went wrong, despite trusting Aiden’s ability to provide basic first aid to Violet in her fragile condition.
"Okay," he reluctantly agreed. As Aiden carried Violet upstairs, the door to Alex’s room creaked open, and Joanna emerged, looking bewildered.
She was still in her party dress and couldn’t comprehend how she had ended up at home.
Waking up in the room alone and still in her dress from last night and her make-up still on, she instantly knew something was wrong as she would not have gone to bed that way.
Also, Aiden carried Violet in his arms, and her best friend, who had earlier called Aiden an asshole, appeared to be trying to seduce him. "What’s going on, Violet, why are you here?" Joanna asked, Aiden felt helpless, unsure of how to explain the situation to Joanna.
If Joanna discovered that her best friend had been drugged in her house, it could make her feel insecure. However, if they lied, Violet would likely reveal the truth once she regained her senses.
"Your husband is downstairs," Aiden replied. Violet perked up at the sound of Joanna’s voice and attempted to squirm out of Aiden’s arms.
"Joan, are you okay? You left without saying goodbye, and Alex mentioned you were tired, so I came to check on you."
Joanna observed Violet’s slurred speech and Aiden’s efforts to control her. Pins of worry pricked her as she asked seriously.
"What happened to you? Why are you speaking like that?" Before anyone could respond, Alex’s voice echoed from downstairs.
"Tie her up. I will return to handle her myself."
Joanna tensed, wondering about the situation and who Alex intended to confront. He quickly joined her, triggering a flood of memories in her mind, causing a headache.
"Angel, you’re awake," Alex embraced her, but she appeared distressed. Alex noticed her discomfort and directed Aiden to take care of Violet in a guest room.
"Alex, what’s going on? How did I get here, and what’s wrong with Violet?" Joanna pulled away, seeking answers. Alex hesitated, reluctant to deceive her further, as concealing his true identity as Salvador was already raising suspicions.
"Let’s go inside and talk," Alex suggested.
"No, you can’t do that to me again. What was it even?"
All she could remember was feeling a strange pain in the back of her neck before everything went dark.
"Nothing like that would happen. Logan was confusing your mind, so I had to take action to keep you focused," he explained, leaving Joanna feeling even more confused.
"I don’t understand. What did you do to me, and why are they tying her up?" she asked anxiously. When Alex noticed the fear in her eyes, he felt a sense of despair.
Without a word, he opened the door and pulled her inside. Despite her attempts to resist, he closed the door securely behind her.
Joanna was still wary of him. "Don’t come any closer. I preferred you in your wheelchair."
She had no idea how much her words pained him, but he composed himself and began to explain.
Joan, this is a contract, and if you adhere to the rules and stop asking so many questions, our relationship will improve."
Joanna felt disheartened when he mentioned the contract. Sometimes, things went so smoothly that she forgot about it.
"I’m sorry for interfering in your life. Let me move back to my room, and you can do me a favor by telling me what happened to Violet."
Alex hesitated, unsure of where to begin, and living in separate rooms seemed impossible at the moment.
"Agnes has a spy in this house, so living in separate rooms is not an option. We have only been able to apprehend the one who drugged Violet. Agnes is trying to use her to drive a wedge between us, but I don’t know if there are more spies."
Joanna could tell when Alex was serious, and this was one of those moments. She felt disheartened about the situation.
"Can you find them new jobs and replace them?" Joanna asked, uncomfortable living under the same roof with an untrustworthy person.
Alex forced a smile and elaborated, "The agency can also be bought over, remember? The devils we know are better than the angels we don’t know. Let’s handle this situation carefully, and in the end, we can stage some minor disagreements to show that we are not compatible and part ways."
Joanna’s heart sank at the last part of Alex’s explanation. While she pondered how the charade would end convincingly, Alex had already mapped out a plan.
Just like the fabricated moments of affection, they could simulate a tumultuous relationship and ultimately agree on a divorce.
Despite her efforts to follow the plan, Joanna felt a pang in her heart at the thought of a divorce.
"Alright. Since you have everything planned out, I’ll go check on Violet," Joanna said, Alex disagreed.
"I think we should both question the maid and decide what to do with her. After that, we can check on Violet together," he suggested, and Joanna agreed.
After all, it was a win-win situation. As they opened the door, they saw a maid carrying a tray of unfamiliar items towards the room where Aiden had taken Violet.
Unable to contain her curiosity, Joanna asked, "What are those items for?"
