Chapter 133: Chapter 133 – Do you mind if I spend the night at your house?

Joanna lay unconscious in Alex’s arms, while Logan was also unconscious on the floor.

Alex gently carried Joanna to the bed before dialing a number on his phone.

"Ike, I sent you a key. Take Logan to the hospital and handle what needs to be done."

On the other end of the line, Ike was already on his way to the location where the tracker was beeping when Alex dialed another number.

"Jack, come and take Madam home and ensure she rests," Alex instructed before leaving the hotel room.

The party continued smoothly, but two people were missing: Joanna and Logan.

Logan’s absence wasn’t as noticeable since he wasn’t there from the beginning. However, when Alex joined the banquet without Joanna by his side, Violet grew suspicious and approached him.

"Alex, where is Joan?" Violet inquired. Alex responded, "I told Aiden to keep an eye on her. Have you seen them?"

He was joking, but his expression was stern. Violet remembered seeing Joanna follow Alex when he dragged Melanie along with him and countered, "I don’t believe you. I saw her follow you." freewёbnoνel.com

Alex was impressed. Violet might have her shortcomings, but he admired her intelligence.

This demonstrated that even without a bodyguard, Violet was capable of ensuring Joanna’s safety by constantly watching out for her.

Additionally, she could set aside her fears and confront Alex when it concerned Joanna, which pleased him.

"She’s tired. I sent her home to rest," he finally said, but Violet sensed something was off due to how Alex had lied initially. However, she hesitated to inquire further.

If anything, she needed to investigate the matter discreetly. Something had seemed different about Alex ever since he stood up from that wheelchair on his wedding day.

"Do you mind if I spend the night at your house? I just want to check on her," she said honestly, and Alex found himself liking her even more.

If she could confront him about Joanna, despite him being her husband, then she could stand up to anyone else as well.

Alex chuckled as a businessman approached him while he responded to Violet. "You can, but you need to understand that my wife shares my bed and won’t share the same room with you."

Violet had questions but could only ask Joanna about it, regardless of whether they shared the same bed.

"Alright, I’ll stay the night until she wakes up." As Aiden approached the entrance, he cornered her.

"Where’s your boyfriend?" he taunted. Violet smiled sweetly, no longer affected by his charms like that night.

The guy was such an asshole. However, she realized she had forgotten about Bennett because of Joanna and honestly had no idea where he was.

To prevent Aiden from winning, she reached for her phone, ready to dial his number when she noticed a text message from Bennett.

’I had to attend to an emergency. I will call you later." With this reassurance, she calmed down and faced Aiden, saying, "It’s none of your business."

Aiden smirked, sensing something was amiss, and continued to taunt Violet. "Maybe he knows a woman like you doesn’t deserve loyalty and attention. I wouldn’t be surprised if another woman is capturing his interest right now."

Each of his words seemed designed to hurt her. Violet was on the verge of slapping him again when he grabbed her hand and kissed it, leaving her stunned as her fingers clenched together.

"These hands seem too quick for someone like you," he murmured. Violet quickly pulled her hand away. "Let go."

"What if I can prove that he’s cheating?" Aiden asked earnestly. Violet’s interest was piqued, as Bennett had mentioned earlier that he wasn’t busy that night.

He also did not explain the emergency he was referring to, but since it involved Aiden, she felt she didn’t need his help.

"I want nothing from you. Stay away from me," she said through gritted teeth. Aiden chuckled. "I will get you proof."

Even though she didn’t want it, he believed she needed it and was determined to provide it for her.

"I don’t want it," Violet said abruptly, about to leave when Aiden blocked her path again with his imposing frame.

"Aiden," Alex called out. He let go of Violet and turned to Alex. "Alex, what’s the matter?"

Violet took the opportunity to escape as Alex cautioned Aiden, "If you don’t want her, then please stay away."

Aiden felt frustrated that Violet left as he explained to Alex, "I’m just trying to help her. That Bennett guy seems strange and doesn’t deserve her."

Alex squinted at Aiden’s words, his gaze serious. "Do you believe you are the one who deserves her? Have you forgotten how you described her?"

Aiden shook his head, feeling that Alex had misunderstood him. "A girl like her is not worthy of me, but Bennett is not worthy of her if you understand what I mean."

Alex, for the first time, was skeptical of his best friend and chose not to continue the conversation.

"I want to know what’s on this drive." He pressed the pen drive shaped like lipstick into Aiden’s hand, who left immediately. "I will have it ready in a few minutes."

As Alex engaged with some business partners, he found a suitable excuse to give to those who inquired about his wife’s whereabouts.

When Grandpa was about to leave, he had a brief meeting with Alex, asking, "I hope your brother is still alive?" Alex was slightly disappointed. There were many ways to handle Logan without resorting to taking his life, and those were the paths he was currently exploring.

You can check on him at the hospital, but he must be careful, or I’ll wipe his entire memory," Alex hinted. Grandpa was pleased with the strategy, which was preferable to taking a life.

"Please let me handle him from now on. You have too much work pressure," Alex didn’t refuse, as he always had to restrain himself when dealing with Logan. "He shouldn’t cross me."

"And your wife?" Grandpa asked curiously. Alex smiled, making his response seem believable. "She’s tired."

"You can’t just let her rest," the old man said mischievously.

As Grandpa left, Aiden approached Alex and revealed, "Alex, you won’t believe this."
