Coco abruptly stood up from her seat, dropping her wooden utensils on her plate.

"Fuck." Coco cursed under her breath when she saw the tears streaming down on Ruby’s cheeks, "Please don’t cry— I didn’t mean to make you cry."

She was about to get off her chair and round the table to console the crying woman, but Coco stopped when Ruby simply shook her head and shot a happy smile her way.

"I’m not crying because you hurt me." Ruby let out a laugh out of her mouth, "I was moved by your kindness."

"Are.. Are you sure?" Coco asked, her eyebrows furrowed in worry and confusion as she slowly sunk down to her chair, "I’m really sorry, I didn’t know that it would make you cry. Making a woman cry was not on my list."

Ruby merely let out another cheerful laugh. "I promise that I’m okay. This is tears of joy, madam."

Coco bit her tongue and continued to stare at Ruby, the worry evident in her face and it only made the woman release another cheerful laugh.

"I’m really okay, Mrs. Hughes." Ruby assured Coco, giggling quietly.

"Well.. If.. If you say so." Coco mumbled, eyeing Ruby with a small crease on her eyebrows as she went back to eating, still feeling bad about making a fellow woman cry.

"You’re truly kind." Ruby hummed out with a small smile, "I wonder how your husbands could act the way they do when you have changed a lot from who you used to be.. You’re much more reliable now."

"I don’t mind the way they act towards me." Coco said and the crease on her eyebrows disappearing slowly, "The reason why they act the way they do around me is valid, and I completely understand."

"You’re truly kind." Ruby repeated her words, "However, Quizen has nothing, but a loose mouth. It’s worrying me."

"A loose mouth?" Coco tilted her head.

"I’m only saying this because you are far from what he says." Ruby stared at Coco with a serious expression on her face, "He has spread rumors of you still being abusive and cheating on them."

Ruby flinched at how loud Coco was being, but she sat there and stared wide eyed at the woman with beautiful emerald eyes.

"And cheating?! I would never do that to any of them! In fact, I don’t have any interest in that kind of thing!" Coco slammed her hands on the table, making the plates, utensils, cups, and bowls clatter loudly.

"Whom did he say those words to?" Coco asked, her nose flaring at how absurd the situation was to her.

"To.. To the owner and the guests.." Ruby muttered, doe eyed as she stared at Coco who looked like she was about to explode.

Coco shook her head. "It’s not your fault. I don’t mind anyways, my reputation is as bad as it can be. I was just shocked that he would spread rumors when I haven’t stopped by the house yet."

"That’s true.. You’re always on the run to do something to earn money— from what I observed lately." Ruby nodded her head in understanding.

Coco let out a sigh and grumbled under her breath. "Because I want to pay off my debt, but I guess that wasn’t good enough because he seems displeased with what I’ve been doing."

The conversation ended there and Coco excused herself from Ruby, leaving the woman to clean up the table.
