New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 152: A strange egg
Chapter 152: A strange egg
"Coco! Coco! Hurry! Take the egg!"
Lala was so excited for Coco to finish the quest, but Coco on the other hand was excited and busy on storing the mangled bodies of the monsters around the clearing.
Coco bent down slightly and picked up a flying pig’s body without a head, storing it on her inventory immediately.
Some were salvageable enough and can still be sold at a low price, even though the bones and meat were shattered, beaten, grinded to smaller pieces by unknown forces that Coco doesn’t want to know how it happened, she still continued to bend down and loot the monster meats.
After all, she just wants to pick up the good pieces to sell.
So, she went ahead of herself and stored those that could be sold inside of her inventory while leaving the rest on the ground.
When she was satisfied with the amount of monster meat she had in her inventory, she huffed in contentment and satisfaction before turning around, her shoes digging through the blood stained ground.
"Alright, I’m done." She said to the garden fairy who was flying all around the strange egg.
Coco crouched low, studying the strange, large egg before her with curious gaze— the blank expression on her face getting replaced with fascination.
Well.. Who could stay unbothered when the egg was unlike anything she had ever seen?
Coco stared at the large strange magical egg, her eyes wide with wonder, the egg’s surface glistening in a manner that suggested it was of a magical nature.
The shell was a smooth, flawless surface, and the egg seemed to emit a faint, almost imperceptible glow, suggesting that there was life within.
Its shell is a light and reflective white.
It was almost twice the size of her forearm, its surface smooth and glossy, the light reflecting off it in a dazzling display of color.
Driven by curiosity, she let out a hum and reached out a hand to touch the shell.
She gently runs her fingers over the surface of the egg’s shell, feeling the cool smoothness beneath her fingertips which seemed to pulse slightly beneath her touch, a faint, almost noticeable throbbing, as if it were alive.
"Yay! You touched the egg!" Lala cheered and called her hands, the scroll she was previously using as a guide vanishing into the air.
"What does this egg do?" Coco questioned and raised an eyebrow on the garden fairy’s way.
"It’s an egg that hatches a companion for fairies! I don’t have one yet because I don’t want an animal chasing me around all day, but you, on the other hand, need it— they can help with the harvest and other trivial things!" Lala responded with so much enthusiasm.
It seemed like she was bouncing in the air, giggling and smiling like a dork.
The smile she had on her lips was contagious enough that just by looking, Coco couldn’t help, but return the smile back to the eager fairy.
"That sounds nice." Coco commented, the soft smile on her lips made Lala squealed.
"You finally smiled at me!" Lala cried out, her eyes getting glossed with tears as she flew towards Coco’s face and tackled Coco’s nose without hesitation, "You finally smiled! I’m so happy—"
Ding!
Coco blinked owlishly and tuned out Lala’s cries as she focused her attention on the scroll that appeared before her.
[ Main Quest {7} done! Receiving rewards....]
[ Receiving a familiar egg, please wait a moment...]
"Oh, this egg is called a familiar egg?" Coco asked, her eyes glued to the scroll as she kept caressing the egg’s smooth shell.
Lala sniffled and wiped her tears. ".. Yeah, wind fairies usually get those eggs from the clouds so it’s white.. But the animals that come out often don’t have wings so they stay on land."
"That’s interesting." Coco commented and smiled at Lala, "Thank you.. I have a feeling that you were the cause of Lulu giving this egg to me."
That statement alone made the fairy cry once more.
Coco could only laugh quietly under her breath and store the familiar egg inside of her personal inventory before she went back to the way she came from, venturing back to the Yogusho Village.
A strange egg was given to her because Lala wanted to cheer her up.
Coco couldn’t help, but be curious as to what kind of animal she would get from the egg— she hoped that it would be something cute and caring, the type that she could cuddle as she slept.
A dog would be nice. Coco mused in her mind as she navigated through the uneven terrain, her feet planted firmly on the ground.
Or a cat.. A cat would be great, too. Coco hummed to herself and raised a hand to caress the fairy’s sobbing figure on her left shoulder who wouldn’t stop crying because she was so happy that Coco finally smiled after frowning almost all day.
She honestly doesn’t mind whatever animal she would get from the egg, but it would be nice to have something that she could hug all day, right?
It’s just wishful thinking. Coco continued down the path towards the village, finally coming across the familiar clearing where she had left the second and third husbands before.
Walking through the clearing made her smile vanish and get replaced with a frown.
Come to think of it.. I never really visited those thugs back in that damn prison, right? Coco inquired in her mind, the frown on her face deepening.
Maybe I should give them a visit later.
It was just a mere thought, but it made her look forward to the sudden visitation later.
She couldn’t let out the sadness she was feeling.. Maybe visiting them could help her let out those pent up emotions?
I’ll visit them after I leave the egg in my room. Coco thought, making up her mind, making a small smile appear on her face once more.
Who knew that a strange egg would make her smile?
