Chapter 149: Lala’s worry

"Coco.." Lala mumbled under her breath, watching as her human friend harvested the fruits she grew an hour ago.

The garden fairy sat off to a random branch to the side, her small frame dwarfed by the towering trees around her with her eyes fixed on the black haired woman, who was standing not too far, her form carefully plucking ripe bananas from the tree.

Coco had kicked down the tree in half because a banana tree could only grow its fruit once in its lifetime before it starts to die.

The little fairy could only watch as her human friend moved swiftly through the groups of fruits she grew, her nimble fingers picking and gathering the fruit.

However, despite the ease and grace with which Coco worked, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness as she watched— noticing how stiff and tense the atmosphere was around Coco.

Ever since the dinner at Jacques’ and Renaldo’s house, there was this distant look in her eyes.

It didn’t help the fact that Coco’s behavior had a sudden shift, the smiles and laughs she would normally offer to her were nowhere to be heard and seen, the blank expression and monotonous tone was the only thing Lala had heard and seen from her friend.

"I don’t get it.." Lala frowned and looked away from Coco, "The food Jacques cooked tasted good and the drink was sweet, too.."

She started biting down on her lower lip, her frown deepening.

She was having fun the whole day and even comforted me when I started crying in the bathroom.. What could have happened? The garden fairy thought, a look of sadness evident in her red eyes.

Lala let go of her lip and her gaze trailed back to Coco who was crouching down on the basket, her hands were moving and stacking the bananas inside.

"She had fun." Lala told herself and let out a sigh, "She told me that she was okay. She even had a conversation with that bad man.. After that.. We had dinner and she ate Jacques’ food.."

Lala felt like her head would explode from all the thinking she was doing.

How could it be so difficult to pinpoint when Coco started acting strange? All she did before she acted like she was acting right now was eat the pink haired woman’s cooking which they both had.

"Did she hate Jacques’ cooking?" Lala wondered and kept staring intensely at Coco, "Did she realize that she prefers the chef’s cooking by the inn and would rather eat dinner there every night?"

Lala continued to stare at Coco, she stared so much that if the intensity of the stare was an acid, Coco would have melted in her spot by now.

However, no matter how much Lala stared at her human friend, her question remained unanswered.

"Ha.. What can I do to make Coco happy..? It’s obvious that she’s sad right now." The garden fairy murmured and puffed her cheeks out as her eyebrows furrowed while pondering ways to make Coco happy.

This was the first time that Coco had acted this way in Lala’s presence so she was quite clueless about what to do.

Lala raised her hand and scratched the back of her head, a sheepish look crossing her features as she raised her gaze to the sky.

"Hey, sister Lulu? Are you there? Are you watching us right now?" She called out to the other fairy who was in charge of keeping an eye on them, hoping that Lulu would help her out on making Coco happy.

She waited for a scroll to appear before her, her eyes glued to the moving white clouds above. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

She didn’t have to wait long because a brown scroll appeared in front of her, unrolling itself and presenting the content to the fairy’s eyes.

[ I can hear you, but I don’t have all day. What’s wrong? Is there something wrong with your fairy dust? ]

Lala read the texts written on the paper before she hummed and shook her head. "There’s nothing wrong with my fairy dust, don’t worry. I only want to know if you could give Coco something to make her happy. She’s sad right now."

After saying what was on her mind, the scroll started to shake violently, which alarmed Lala and made her lean away.

Then, the scroll rolled itself and disappeared.

"Ah, you don’t have to give her anything big! Just something small, but useful! Like the unbreakable hoe?" Lala quickly added to her request, a hopeful look in her eyes as she stared at the spot where the scroll disappeared.

Her body flinched in the branch when the scroll appeared close to her face, the smoke was so close that she inhaled some and made her sneeze.

"Achoo!" Lala sneezed loudly and clutched the branch tightly, "Aish!"

The scroll unrolled itself once more.

[ You’re worried about her, right? I sent a quest her way and it would arrive in exactly ten minutes. The thing she would receive as a reward would need your help, use that opportunity to know why she was sad. ]

Lala gasped and her eyes went wide in relief as she read the content of the scroll. "Thank you so much, Lulu! I knew I could count on you! You really are the best sister I could ever ask for!"

The scroll disappeared once more and another one appeared, presenting the content to the fairy almost immediately.

[ I’m only doing this because you looked like you were sad because that human was sad.. I won’t be here next time so make sure to talk to your friend, okay? You’re a big girl now, Lala. ]

"Don’t worry! Me and Coco are friends! We will be fine!" The garden fairy assured her sister with a smile, "Coco would let me know what’s on her mind once she’s feeling okay— she’s kind like that, you know?"

As if to respond to Lala’s question, the scroll shoo itself before it disappeared.
