Chapter 109: Taking the frustration out

"Just what am I doing wrong, Lala?" Coco asked, her voice quiet and small, but full of emotion.

Her emerald irises glancing at the time duration of the main quest displayed over the brown scroll, making her mood get worse than before.

Coco was deep in the forest and didn’t bother going up the mountain to go to her little garden of vegetables, opting to have the lovely garden fairy use her wonderful magic and her, being so happy that she finally got to be of use for Coco.

Coco’s hands were moving quickly as she harvested fruit from the tree before her. Her body was almost hidden by the branches and barks, the greenery surrounding her providing both cover and a protection.

Even though the forest was quiet and peaceful, saved from the occasional chips of the cheery birds and squeaks of forest rats, Coco was mumbling incoherent words under her breath, expressing her current strong emotion.

Coco’s face was etched with frustration, her movements jerky as she snatched at the fruit dangling from the tree above her.

The fruits were ripe and ready to harvest, the bright colors almost mocking her furious and agitated state as she plucked them from their tiny branches— uncaring if she unintentionally squished one of the fruits under her grip.

"You’re not doing anything wrong, Coco— eep!" Lala tried to comfort her human friend, but Coco accidentally threw the fruit over her shoulder and almost hit the fairy square in the face.

It was fortunate that Lala managed to sprinkle some fairy dust on the citrus fruit just in time.

"Don’t worry, Coco! You’re not in the wrong to feel this upset for not finding out what the husband wants! They’re all just useless— eek!" Once again, Lala barely avoided a flying orange coming her way.

"It was hard to not get mad in front of Zaque he was helping.. But it’s just difficult to not be frustrated with my situation right now." Coco’s hands worked with a sense of urgency, her movements frenzied as she harvested the bright colored fruit, her brow furrowed and her jaw set.

However, even with the speed at which she worked, due to her unstable emotional state, her movements were jerky and uncoordinated, her body language betraying her desire to gather enough fruit for the basket to bring back to the village.

"The orange is done, Lala." Coco grumbled out and frowned, her hands falling to herself as she stepped aside so the garden fairy could grow a new one.

"Okay! Okay! Okay! I’ll grow strawberries this time, would that be alright for you?" Lala asked, turning to Coco after she made the orange tree disappear back into the ground, leaving its previous spot clean and spotless.

"Yes, okay, that sounds great." Coco answered, forcing a smile to keep her temper in check and not lash out at her adorable fairy friend who has been nothing, but cute and caring towards her.

"Yay! Strawberries will sell lots, too!" The garden fairy giggled before she circled around on top of her chosen spot before a strawberry plant peaked and started to grow at an alarming speed until it was ready to be harvested.

"Thank you, Lala." Coco murmured, not forgetting how to appreciate the fairy’s help and desire to be of assistance towards her.

"As always, you’re welcome~!" Lala beamed at her human friend, loving the fact that even if Coco was annoyed at everybody right now, she would still treat Lala kindly and would still be amazing to her.

Just what are friends for! Right?

Wordlessly, even if Coco’s face was twisted with frustration and irritation as she worked, her movements are still frantic and slightly careful this time, being extra mindful of her hands so she won’t damage the fruits.

Not only that, despite her efforts and undeniable strength, the fruits seem to be coming off the vines far too slowly for her liking which only adds more fuel to the fire.

Still, she didn’t let that get up to her head.

She let herself get lost in her work, her hands moving quickly and efficiently, her body working almost on autopilot as she harvested, her mind jumping into dreamland.

She might look like she was concentrating because her eyes were narrowed, her focus fixed on the task at hand with the fruit that was collected was placed into a basket at her feet, the pile of fruit slowly growing as she worked.

Anyone with enough knowledge or have sent through the same thing would immediately could tell that she started dissociating.

Was it because she kept telling herself that everything would be fine and that she could handle it? Probably.

However, she has never thought of how much time and effort it would take to finish Alhai’s quest, all because of the second husband’s stubbornness and the third husband’s aloofness.

She should have seen it coming by the way they acted when she came over yesterday, but no, she chose to remain oblivious to the husbands’ quarrel because she’s not that much responsible for them.

All she needs is to provide, set them and herself free, yeah?

"Coco? Earth to Coco? Cooooocooo?" Lala’s high-pitched voice rang in Coco’s ears, making her blink out of her inner stupor and shake her head.

She looked at the strawberry plant in front of her, her jaw dropping at the horrendous sight of the poor plant.

"Oh, dear me! I made the strawberry bald!" Coco gasped out of surprise and fright, dropping the green leaves on the ground which was evidence that she was the one who did it. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

"You’re finally back!" Lala chimed and smiled brightly, "I’ve called you for a while now, but you weren’t answering so I let you play with the strawberry plant after moving the basket away from your reach! Did you have fun?"

Coco’s heart swelled due to how sweet the red haired fairy was being. "Oh, Lala.. You’re the best fairy in the world!"

"I am?"
