New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 102: What now?
Chapter 102: What now?
"Good morning, Jacques! Renaldo!" Coco greeted the married couple with a large smile on her face.
".. It’s nice to see you smiling and laughing, but should I be concerned with this enthusiasm of hours..?" The butcher asked, a look of wariness on his face as he hid behind his wife.
Coco stopped smiling and raised an eyebrow towards him, crossing her arms. "Wow. Do I look like I’m going to skin you alive or something?"
Renaldo shrugged his shoulders and stepped aside. "By the looks of it right now? Yes."
"You—" Coco was about to get on Renaldo’s face and size him up playfully, but Jacques let out a sigh and grabbed Coco’s colar, then pushed Renaldo’s face away.
"Stop it, you two." The pink haired woman scolded them, "It’s too early to be dealing with this."
"Aww.." Coco trailed off with a huff, puffing her cheeks out as she proceeded to turn her head away from Renaldo with him doing the same.
"You two are being childish right now." Jacques said with her eyebrows furrowed, "Anyways, what are you doing here so early, Coco? I thought you’ll go out as soon as you wake up today?"
Yesterday, Coco had stayed at the mediators’ house for another hour, eating the sandwich that Zaque prepared for her.
For some reason, the air between the mediator was thick and tense, it was so tense that Coco felt like she was being crushed unde the pressure— making her want to reel in the corner and hide away from the two.
She didn’t want to get caught up with whatever’s happening, but she had a feeling that she was the cause.
Alhai wasn’t discreet with his glaring, as if he wants her to know that she was the topic of whatever argument he had with the first husband, however, Zaque would sugarcoat what was happening by simply giving her another sandwich filled with chocolate fillings.
After that, Zaque baked another load of bread and made her a bunch of sandwich she could take with her to the mountain.
The same sandwich is in her bag right now, snuggled comfortably on the bottom of the sling bag with the packed breakfast and lunch that the chef of the inn had prepared meticulously for her.
Once she left the house, she went straight to the butcher shop and saw that Jacques was already closing the shop.
They gave her the money they earned and Coco gave them ten gold coins each for their hard work, making them become shocked at the unbelievable amount once again.
[ Coco’s pocket:
gold coins and 100 silver coins
(Withdraw) (Deposit) ]
She had exactly nine hundred gold coins in her personal bank and decided to give them enough coins that would last them for a week or so, but as usual, they were trying to refuse the amount.
Coco honestly thinks that she’s not giving them enough to compensate them for doing everything, but her courageous friend had told her that five gold coins is enough.
After giving them ten gold coins each then gave them extra three gold coins for the delivery fee.
She went back to the Red Horse Inn and paid two gold coins for the food she will have for the next few days every time she gets back from the mountain or wherever she was for the day.
That’s how the rest of her day went yesterday.
Before leaving the couple, she told them that she will be leaving as early as she could and had them skip breakfast delivery, but now that she’s in front of them, she basically announced to them that she didn’t do what she originally planned.
"I wasn’t feeling it when I woke up so I came to bother Mrs. Tani for a large basket." Coco said, deciding to come clean to her friends.
"Your injuries have not healed completely yet." Jacques stated, reminding her that she was injured.
"Oh." Coco blinked and rubbed the back of her neck, "I forgot about that.. I don’t feel any pain or sting anymore so I’ll be fine— for real this time."
Jacques narrowed her eyes towards Coco, calculating gaze clashing with a wary one.
However, before Jacques could say anything else to reprimand her friend, someone had called out to Coco which made the three of them turn to the direction where the voice came from.
"Coco! Wait for me!" The second husband was running, his face flushed with color as he panted heavily.
Coco and Jacques exchanged a look, the two of them having a questioning gaze as they waited for Heiren to reach their spot.
"What do they want now?!" Lala exclaimed as she huffed out of annoyance, "First, it was that red haired man and the grey haired man, then now, it’s the brown haired one? Who else? The blue haired one? Can’t they give Coco a break?!"
The fairy was huffing and puffing on top of Coco’s head.
She was silent earlier because sleep was still in her system, but when she heard Heiren calling out for Coco to wait for him, she was quick to sober up and start fuming.
When Heiren was almost near them, Jacques turned to Coco and flashed her a smile.
"We will be taking our leave." The woman gave Coco a pat on the back, "Good luck with him. Out of four of your husbands, from what I heard, he was the unruly one. Based on his face right now? It looks like you will need it."
Coco’s body grew stiff after Jacques pulled Renaldo out of there.
Then..
The brown haired mediator came to a halt in front of Coco, his hands on his knees and he struggled to catch his breath.
His breaths came in quick gasps, his chest heaving as he tried to regain his composure, but despite the exertion, Heiren managed to lift his head and glance up at her, his brown eyes meeting hers.
He opened his mouth and with urgency in his voice—
