My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 171: Melina’s Wait
Chapter 171: Melina’s Wait
After Melina had used all of her MP to send her magic to Ichiro during his fight with Zagor, she fell asleep and was pulled to another realm where she spoke with Asys, the God of Magic.
When she woke up, she held a strange book in her arms that Asys had given her in her dreams.
She slowly opened it up, but the words were written with incomprehensible symbols that glowed for a moment, and in the blink of an eye, the book dispersed into thin air.
"Huh?" Melina pondered out loud.
"Melina, you are awake!" Eve, her elven princess roommate, exclaimed from the balcony.
Yuki and Eve quickly entered the room to check on Melina’s well-being, who reassured them she felt perfectly fine.
Her roommates explained that after she fell unconscious, they called the nurse of the academy, who arrived at their room with the headmaster and startled the two princesses even more.
Nonetheless, Headmaster Devon was the one who told the girls that Melina would be fine and even infused some of his magic onto her so that it would take less time for her to wake up.
Melina had slept for an entire day, and right after her roommates explained what had happened in the last 24 hours, she suddenly remembered the reason she fell unconscious in the first place.
"Ichiro..." she muttered.
By that point, the fight in Kalusia had already come to an end, but the news hadn’t reached the Sephyr Kingdom as Ichiro’s voice crystal was destroyed.
The princess was too anxious to attend her classes, so she asked for a leave of absence with the headmaster’s approval and stayed in her room, fidgeting her fingers nervously.
A few days later, Luca and his friends paid a visit to the princess in her room, who seemed to be in a depressed state as she waited for news about the war to arrive.
Melina knew that it would take time for a letter to get there from Kalusia, but that didn’t stop her from patiently waiting on her balcony.
"Hey there, Princess Melina. We brought some sweets and snacks to cheer you up," said Luca as his two friends set the boxes with chocolates on the table.
"Thanks. I’m not hungry, though..." Melina replied, holding onto the rail of the balcony as she stared into the distance.
Yuki and Eve were also present, telling the three men that they had been trying to cheer her up ever since she woke up to no avail.
However, right at that moment, they heard a knock on their door, prompting Yuki to check who it was.
It was Headmaster Devon, who had personally gone to the princesses’ room to deliver good news, saying that Queen Diana had received a letter from King Leon where he confirmed their victory against the devil.
Everyone in the room cheered with excitement, including Luca and his friends. Still, Melina kept holding onto the rail of the balcony without moving.
The headmaster approached the silver-haired princess and gently placed his hand on her shoulder.
"He is alright, Princess..." he said, making Melina sniff as she slowly turned around, showcasing her face full of tears of happiness.
Melina gave the old sage a hug as a torrent of tears flowed out of her eyes, and her friends couldn’t do anything but feel happy for the princess, including Luca, who realized every day that Melina only had romantic eyes for Ichiro.
The next day, Melina attended her classes like usual, feeling a lot better now that she knew that Ichiro had survived the battle.
Nonetheless, the fact that she hadn’t talked to him in days still bothered her.
’I wish I could see him...’ she thought.
Melina wanted to come up with a plan to visit Kalusia herself to see Ichiro, but she couldn’t keep skipping classes, or she would get expelled.
The stuff that was being taught at the academy wasn’t helping Melina in her growth, but it was her duty as the princess to graduate, so she couldn’t simply ignore that responsibility. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
One night, Melina and her two roommates were hanging out on the balcony, drinking tea and sharing stories to keep the silver-haired princess’ mind occupied.
Suddenly, a strange sensation got to Melina’s body, making her stand up abruptly and startling her two roommates.
The princess stood next to the balcony rail and squinted to get a better look at the tiny dot that she could see in the distance in the dark night sky.
"What’s wrong?" Yuki asked, standing up from her seat with a preoccupied face.
"I-is that...?" Melina muttered before smiling brightly.
The dot that was visible in the distance became bigger and clearer, making Yuki and Eve curious as to what was coming their way at such high speeds.
"Ichiroooo!" Melina yelled from the bottom of her lungs.
"Sorry, I’m a bit late..." said Ichiro, gently floating right in front of the rail where Melina stood.
Yuki and Eve stayed silent, not believing their eyes as they saw the man they had heard so much about floating in front of their balcony and talking to Melina like it was no big deal.
As he slowly descended on the balcony’s platform, Melina hugged him tightly with a little tear forming under her eyelids and let out a long sigh of relief.
"You dummy. You lost the voice crystal..." she said.
"Heh, well, I didn’t lose it exactly... Also, ouch..." Ichiro replied, making her aware of the injuries that still plagued his body as she hugged him tightly.
Without any concern for the people around them, Melina raised Ichiro’s poncho and shirt to look at his wrapped-up wounds, but his entire torso was covered with fabric that worked as gauze.
Still, Melina’s actions alone were enough to make both of her roommates flush with embarrassment as they also noticed Ichiro’s chiseled body.
The silver-haired princess had too many things she wanted to do. She wanted to take a closer look at Ichiro’s wounds, introduce him to her roommates, and ask him why he had come back so soon without his companions.
Fortunately, Ichiro was there solely for her, so he felt glad that he could finally talk to Melina again after months of being separated. However, before he could elaborate any further, he fell asleep in Melina’s arms.
