Chapter 164: Fueling the Flames

My battle with the buffed Zagor kept going, and I was using my bo to reduce his stamina as he continued a non-stop barrage of attacks, some of which managed to hit me.

At one point, the devil landed a punch in the back of my head, making my awakening waiver for a brief moment as I almost lost consciousness. freewebnσvel.cøm

Zagor used that small window of time to run and tackle me, grabbing me by the arms and rushing straight at the wall that led inside the castle.

As my body crashed with the weight of Zagor’s body pushing me, he broke the wall with my back and kept pushing me through the partitions of the castle, passing by and demolishing five or six different rooms until we reached the back courtyard.

Still suspended in the air, Zagor maintained his grip on one of my arms and threw me down to the ground like a rag doll, making me land on my back and creating a small crater on my landing spot.

My entire back was bleeding, my poncho was mostly ripped apart, and my awakening transformation started to slowly die out as the flames that covered my arms got weaker.

Zagor stood before me and looked down into my eyes as I lay on the ground with my face up.

"Not even demi-gods will stop me from conquering this continent..." he said with a severe tone.

A small droplet of blood dripped down my nose as I broke eye contact and looked down with a bit of frustration.

"The beastkins, the desert, the empire... Even that pesky hidden kingdom are all mine to take." Zagor continued as he approached my weakened body.

Holding me by the collar of my ripped poncho, he raised my body high in the air, but I had no strength to free myself from his grip.

"I could tell something was strange... The energy of another person is inside you." the devil said as he inspected my body hanging in the air.

"Someone dared to interfere in my fight...?" he continued, letting out a deranged chuckle.

The devil was talking about Melina’s energy that was coursing through me. Although I didn’t know how she did it, I could tell that the princess had sent some of her MP to me when I was in the middle of fighting him.

Somehow, he could differentiate the two types of MP that ran inside me.

"Once I find the origin of that magic, I’ll show them the pain and despair that comes from messing with my battles..." Zagor said.

"You see, women are my favorite... They always scream the loudest." he continued, letting out an unsettling and creepy grin.

His words were all I needed for my emotions to resurface as my anger refueled my phoenix flames, enveloping me in a mantle of wildfire that burned his hand and made him drop me back down while quickly stepping back.

Zagor stared at his scorched hand with discontent, covering it with his demonic power to restore the damage.

"You took my trophy away, and you still dare to use it against me!?" he exclaimed.

He still referred to Acalan as his trophy, and the fact that I was able to cast phoenix fire was thanks to the blessing I received when he let me stab his heart.

The devil scoffed. "I suppose my deal with him is over since this counts as betrayal..." he muttered.

He wasn’t completely wrong, as Acalan did betray him since he was willing to die in order for me to obtain his blessing, but his words only made me angrier and increased the potency of my flames even more.

"Man..." I said while groaning as my body still ached from the injuries.

"You really are an idiot." I continued, using all of my pent-up rage to release a torrent of fire that covered the entirety of the backyard we were located in.

Zagor avoided the first fire waves that were shot his way and closed his distance with me as he tried to get me with his morning star.

However, there was too much energy inside me, so I simply waved my hand to the side and raised a massive wall of fire that halted his approach and pushed it forward, making the devil retreat as he avoided being encased by the flames.

My entire body was burning as if it were made of fire itself, while Zagor had released all of his demonic energy to protect himself from my attacks.

This was my last stand. If I couldn’t beat Zagor here, then it was over for the entire continent. Still, it was those emotions that made my flames grow even brighter and hotter.

"You should’ve stayed silent..." I muttered, and just before he could reply, I rushed to his side and punched him in the ribs with a flaming fist, pushing him a few meters away.

The devil wasn’t smiling anymore, gritting his teeth with anger as he held onto the burn mark on his side while slowly healing it.

He had to use some of his demonic energy any time he wanted to cure his injuries, so I thought that if I damaged him enough, he wouldn’t have enough to heal and keep fighting at the same time.

I was enduring my injuries since the devil wasn’t letting me grab a potion, so it seemed fair that he would feel a bit of pain along with me.

Still, Zagor rushed toward me while simultaneously relieving his wound, but I was faster, and before he could reach my location, I jumped straight and landed a flying kick on his face.

As my feet made contact with his head, a burst of fire generated from the point of impact, burning part of his face and sending the massive devil flying back to the gates that led to the jungle.

Moving the rubble away, Zagor stood up from the debris and roared loudly as his demonic powers started healing his scorched face.

Not giving him any time to breathe, I rushed at him again and punched him dozens of times in the span of two quick seconds. Then, I put my hands against his stomach and produced a fire vortex that sent him flying back dozens of meters away, leaving a severe wound on his torso.
