My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 155: The Final Reinforcements
Chapter 155: The Final Reinforcements
After I met the king of Kalusia at the factory, I told him about the Terra Titan and the phoenix, showing the four hearts we had acquired and the pouch with Acalan’s ashes.
Dente, the king, looked sad for a moment as he stared at the trinkets but reassured me that they could still be saved if we reached the altar inside the castle.
He explained that Acalan and the Terra Titan stayed behind when Zagor attacked their capital, allowing the royal family to escape as they were going to be executed by the devil. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
From the little information he received, he said that the phoenix had been threatened into working for Zagor in exchange for the lives of the beastkin while the Terra Titan was ordered to be split.
The split of the titan wasn’t something that the Kalusia Kingdom took lightly since it meant ripping the emotions and personality away from the Terra Titan in order to turn him into different mindless monsters.
As Dente kept explaining to me the nuisances of the Legendary Beasts’ decisions, he clenched his fists with anger and frustration, which was understandable.
Still, he hoped we could bring them back to their normal forms once we obtained the other two hearts and recaptured the capital, although that was easier said than done.
Now that we had the king of Kalusia with us, we had a huge meeting with all of the squad leaders to strategize our next move toward the capital.
Dente ordered all of the beastkin soldiers on our side to fight in the frontlines with the empire’s army, who would be taking the front of the city walls.
I told the Dawn’s Defenders that their job was to reduce the defenses of the enemy at the top of their walls, where they had giant crossbows.
The twenty royal battle-maids were present there, and they were tasked with capturing the factory inside the capital after helping the army cross the walls.
Gina seemed a bit apprehensive at first, but I thought it would be better for her to capture the factory with the others and not face Zagor with me.
Devils were truly unpredictable creatures that acted out of pure malice, so having Gina there could put her at a very high risk of getting hurt or worse.
The way some beastkin described Zagor was as a war-loving monster who valued strength above all, but that didn’t mean that he would honor a fair fight.
At the end of the day, he was a devil, and he would do whatever he wanted with no justification needed.
In fact, I wasn’t even sure if I wanted my companions to be present in the fight with Zagor since I didn’t want them to suffer any crazy injuries either. Still, I knew that they weren’t going to let me fight alone.
As we kept strategizing, we told the knights to help the Dawn’s Defenders destroy the crossbows at the top of the wall as they were all able to fly with their enchanted armor.
There were still two Terra Titans that we had to defeat, and the king of Kalusia was sure that they would be protecting the capital.
Since the knights had already taken down the previous Terra Titans, we told them to be on the lookout for when the new ones appeared.
The plan was a little strange, but I thought it would work nonetheless. Some of the knights would carry the Dawn’s Defenders members in their arms and bring them to the top of the wall to take out the enemy’s defenses.
After that, it was only a matter of time for the knights to wait for the Terra Titans to appear and attack them.
My role, of course, was to go straight to the castle and kill Zagor. Reaching the castle wouldn’t be the hard part, as I could fly and propel myself at high speeds to get there quickly, but I didn’t know how a fight with the devil would go.
The time I fought Armaros, we were in the middle of a forest, away from endangering innocent people, so I didn’t worry too much about how destructive my spells were.
However, fighting inside a castle in the middle of a large city with thousands of people would definitely hinder some of my moves.
After the meeting was done, nighttime had arrived at the factory in the savannah, and the army took their well-deserved rest to prepare for marching toward the capital the next day.
That night, I was sitting at the top of the factory roof while gazing at the star with my companions when Carli arrived to give me something.
"Princess Melina asked me to give you this..." the lioness battle-maid said as she pulled out a small piece of fabric.
Carli explained that it was a "Lady’s favor," which were small gifts or trinkets given to knights and soldiers by their loved ones as a good luck charm to return safely back home.
It was a white and blue handkerchief with the letters "M.I" written on it, and they were written with Roman letters, which I knew that Melina could read.
’M.I?’ I thought for a moment before getting red as I understood what the acronym meant.
"What do those symbols mean?" Gina asked as she looked at the handkerchief.
It felt a little embarrassing to tell them, so I explained that there were two letters in another language that only Melina and I could speak.
"See, this is an ’M,’ which is the first letter for ’Melina,’ and this is an ’I,’..." I explained to them, stopping myself at the last part as it felt somewhat shy.
"That’s an ’I’ for ’Ichiro,’ right?" Vespera continued, finishing my sentence and making me flush.
’God, what the hell is wrong with me? Why do I feel like a real 16-year-old receiving a letter from his girlfriend...?’ I thought as the rest of my companions chuckled playfully.
After overcoming my shyness, I chuckled along with them and pocketed the handkerchief inside my poncho as it didn’t seem like something I would stow away in my void pocket.
’I will definitely return safely, Melina...’
