Chapter 440: Chapter 409 Beiting Equipment Market

Beiting.

Heavy snow danced in the air, dressing everything in silvery white, but it couldn’t conceal the giant city standing on the land of Xia Country.

Beiting Base City.

It was built on the original site of Beiting City. At the beginning of the apocalypse, Beiting hadn’t suffered severe destruction, and the base city still had numerous high-rises. Despite the presence of heavy weaponry like mortars and anti-aircraft guns across many areas, adding a somber air, it couldn’t hide the city’s former international metropolis prosperity.

Just the Beiting Base City alone housed tens of millions of survivors, far more than the entire Tiannan Province.

This was possible because at the beginning of the apocalypse, the regional military forces in Beiting reacted swiftly. They possessed one of the world’s top armies, quickly exterminated the Demon Tide, and suppressed several Abyssal Rifts.

Today, centered on Beiting Base City, eight large Sanctuaries were established as Satellite Cities in a Defense Circle, encompassing a territory comparable to a third of Tiannan Province.

Unlike Tiannan Province, mostly uninhabited, where human Awakeners’ activities were limited to small regions, the area within Beiting’s Defense Circle was a safe zone!

There were a total of twenty-eight different-sized Abyssal Rifts within the Circle, all suppressed by the military and transformed into Resource Points for continuous extraction of Source Crystals.

The wandering Demonized Beasts had also been slaughtered time after time.

Now, within the boundaries of the Defense Circle, even ordinary survivors could travel safely along the roads, rarely encountering Demonized Beasts.

Beiting Base City further established multiple railway lines connecting the major Satellite Cities and Transfer Stations. Inside the Defense Circle, reminiscent of pre-apocalyptic times, humans were no longer confined within cramped city walls.

Outside the base city, the vast wilderness had been converted into extensive farmlands, growing not only standard crops like rice and potatoes but also post-apocalyptic mutated, high-yield, short-cycle crops like Green Fruit Trees and Earth Dragon Corn.

These provided abundant food for the people living within Beiting’s Defense Circle.

Only at the outer periphery of the eight great Satellite Cities, densely spotted with outposts and fortresses, battles erupted daily, resisting the onslaught of the Demon Tide like steadfast rocks.

Every day, teams of Awakeners and even large migration groups from surrounding provinces and cities rushed here, seeking protection within the Defense Circle.

The power of Beiting continued to grow.

...

"Beiting truly deserves its reputation as the safest place in the world. Had I not come here, I wouldn’t dare believe the wilderness could be safe."

"Indeed, and Beiting also has its Guardian God. I heard the Guardian God can crush mountains with a slap of his hand and destroy a Demon Tide single-handedly... Now that we are in Beiting, we no longer have to live in fear."

Two young men, laughing and chatting, carted a load of building materials away.

Grey Blade stood on a high tower, overlooking the bustling figures below, a cacophony of voices reaching his ears.

He frowned slightly.

Grey Blade was not from Xia Country; instead, he hoped that Beiting wouldn’t become too strong, fearing it could thwart the Lord’s plans.

’However, according to my estimation, the Guardian Gods of Beiting, the Transcendent Strongmen, number at most three. If few, it might only be one, surnamed Meng. I’m not too worried about that...’

The likelihood of conflict erupting was slim, but as the head of intelligence, Grey Blade needed to be prepared for any possible scenarios and have backup plans.

’It’s just that more and more experts are emerging in the Territory. If I don’t improve my strength, I might be left behind... No, I must request to enter seclusion after this mission and strive to break through to Transcendent.’

Once a genius with A-grade potential, Grey Blade had roamed outside these days; despite not lacking in Cultivation Resources, being outside the Territory wasn’t as convenient as within. He had remained in the Thirteen Layer and hadn’t reached the stage of Great Perfection.

He was gradually falling behind the first tier.

Grey Blade was a bit anxious and turned to the big man beside him, "How’s the recruitment going?"

"Our Mercenary Corps has filled all 500 slots, and we’ve also hired five to six hundred other ordinary staff," the big man scratched his head, "Big Brother, this Transfer Station hasn’t started operating yet, and it’s losing money."

"Spending a bit of Source Crystal to gain a few days is worth it. Once this Transfer Station opens, we’ll be making hundreds of Source Crystals in minutes, understand?"

Yan Dazhuang scratched his head, not quite grasping it.

As an early Awakener "physically" recruited by Grey Blade and later joining the Intelligence Department, Yan Dazhuang could be considered a veteran. However, he wasn’t skilled in stealth or investigation; he knew only one approach: to barrel through.

Just brute force through any situation.

Grey Blade knew well that directing Yan Dazhuang to handle tasks meant using him more as a megaphone to inform his subordinates.

...

The new Transfer Station was located about twenty kilometers southeast of Beiting Base City.

The Lord had ordered an investigation into Beiting’s intelligence and sought a location to establish a base... Initially, Grey Blade planned to buy a large plot of land within Beiting, but after calculating the costs, the exorbitant land prices within the base city were not worth it compared to building in the wilderness.

After the inclusion policy, many survivors from the Sanctuaries had moved into Beiting, leaving fewer transformed into Transfer Stations.

Some saw a business opportunity and chose to build Transfer Stations at strategic traffic points.

However, establishing a Transfer Station had strict requirements, theoretically all belonging to the government, with no private stations permitted. The application process was also immensely complicated, but Grey Blade used some maneuvers, considering the costs, far cheaper than buying land.

Transfer Stations had no size restrictions, and if the Lord found it too small in the future, it could still be expanded.

Even if labor and material costs and other construction expenses were his responsibility, plus the Source Crystals spent on the application process, it amounted to just a few thousand units.

A steal of a deal.

Grey Blade compiled this information and sent it through a Contract to the distant Green Shadow.

...

Lord’s Castle.

After several hours of delay, Tang Yu finally received the Contract information.

"The Transfer Station is almost ready, and the first batch of rune Equipment heading to Beiting should also start being prepared."

In order to quickly tap into the market and earn Source Crystals from Beiting Awakeners, Grey Blade’s investigation naturally included Beiting’s rune Equipment market.

Compared to ordinary large Sanctuaries, it was already quite mature.

D-grade rune Equipment was already circulating in the market, and according to Grey Blade’s predictions, Beiting even had the capacity to produce C-grade rune Equipment, although in limited quantities.

"Although our rune Equipment from Green Shadow is more refined at the same level, when selecting the types of products to launch, careful consideration is still necessary."

Establishing an adventurer guild in Beiting was impossible, so Tang Yu planned to include B-grade Equipment, and even showcase one or two pieces of A-grade rune Equipment as star attractions to draw customers.

Knives, swords, firearms, Armor, tools... various weapons and Equipment flashed through his mind.

Suddenly, Tang Yu’s eyes lit up.

According to Grey Blade’s investigation, it seemed... there were no Puppets in Beiting’s market.
