Mummy Evolution-Chapter 75: Battling in the Tomb
Sett's boots hit the shifting sands with a muted thud, the grains exploding outward in chaotic bursts as the storm's winds clawed at his body.
The desert beyond Kemet's great wall was a living beast—its breath a howling gale, its skin a churning sea of dunes that rose and fell.
Shining Gold fell beside him.
"Ah, the storms are scary," Gold said with a sniff. "But as long as I don't meet that Anaconda, it's okay, I guess."
Sett stretched, removing the burdensome ancient clothes to reveal his naked body with only an underwear to hide him. He hid his Heart Zone using something he had prepared while still inside the city—fake skin and flesh.
It was rather easy to create if you knew how to.
Sett had made a bunch of it and stored it inside his Tomb Heart.
Gold followed his suit, removing his own clothing. But unlike Sett, he just stripped and a new set of clothes began to grow all over his body. It was not simple clothing, either, Sett realized, but a proper set of armor.
The golden armor was streamlined to fit Gold's body, and perfectly agile, too. It covered him like a second skin, looking cool and proper instead of clunky.
Axiom of Metal—Armor of Gold.
Sett couldn't help but be envious.
If he had a cape to add onto that, this guy would look so cool.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Gold asked in embarrassment. "This is not just for teenager looks, it is a very useful ability. It can resist one life-threatening attack for me!"
"Sure." Sett nodded and looked towards the storms.
Teenager looks? All ages love that shit. Bastard.
What man didn't like golden armor that acted like second skin over refined muscles?
Not to mention it even protected the eyes from the sand.
Sett was not childish—Gold just didn't have the manliness required.
And it is a good ability.
Sett had already been briefed about Gold's abilities, so he already knew about the ability beforehand. Sett had also briefed his abilities to Gold.
Of course, they both kept some things hidden—though Sett already knew the things Gold hid due to the system.
On the other hand, Sett had said that he had only awakened two abilities—Death's Call and a Storage ability. After all, Sett would have to use that infront of Gold, and there was no reason to hide it if it would be revealed anyway.
But he had left all the other abilities—River of Reincarnation, Life Share, Death Begets Life, and Murder Soul—as secrets.
Sett's eyes stung due to the sand floating around, and he squinted as he looked forward. There was no way around that. The storm could not hurt his body but it sure can sting his eyes.
Gold asked, "Are you not worried about that prince hurting your woman when you are not around?"
Sett took out a bottle of water from nowhere and drowned it, throwing the bottle away casually.
Then, he said, rubbing his mouth: "No, that kind of person would never do that. He is not the hurried type of man—he wants to show me that he is superior to me because he feels wildly inferior. And taking her away when I am not around will ruin the purpose."
"Eh, is that how it works?" Gold rubbed his armored jaw. "So anyway, what are we fighting?"
Sett walked forward, feet digging into sand as he removed his boots.
"Find me something at Tier 2 nearby," Sett said. "Choose something weaker—we should be able to defeat it."
They moved a fair distance away from the wall as they conversed.
Gold closed his eyes. Then used another of his Axiom abilities.
Axiom of Metal—Heartbeat of Metal.
Blood had the presence of metal in it, and using this ability, anything with blood in its veins would become visible to Shining Gold's 6th sense.
The sense for metal's heartbeat.
In his senses, many different energies appeared and he noticed it all.
He sensed Sett first.
Sett had a deep aura of metal in his veins, but it seemed rather weird. His metallic aura was not roaring like a living being's, it was more like the metallic aura deeply hidden under the land.
It was as if he was not alive, but at the same time not dead.
As if he was both alive and, at the same time, dead.
Or as if he has a more perfect, harmonious form, like nature itself.
After sensing Sett, the next thing that Gold sensed made him taut immediately.
Sett clenched his hands. "Seems like the first prey came to us on its own."
No matter what beast it was, as long as it could survive in the storm here, it would have eaten a Tomb Heart. There were only a rare few creatures out there that could shrug off desert storms without eating Tomb Hearts.
And any animal, as long as it had Tomb Hearts, was a deadly threat for Sett.
He could see it—or rather, feel it first. The sand in front of them shifted, a subtle tremor rippling through the dunes. Then, slowly, it began to rise. Grains cascaded away as a massive form emerged, deliberate and unhurried, as if savoring the reveal.
First, the tips of a dusty, sand-colored mane broke the surface, followed by a broad, muscular head. The creature's deep golden eyes gleamed through the storm, squinting with predatory focus as it locked onto them.
Its fur, the exact hue of the desert, shed sand in rivulets as its shoulders and torso burrowed free, each movement sending a soft cascade down the dune.
Its paws, massive yet eerily silent, pressed into the ground, and its body fully emerged, half-crouched, as if it had been one with the desert itself.
It stared at them, not as foes, but as prey, its murderous aura thickening the air.

It was a Sand Lion.
Tier 2 Low.
And its physical strength briefly flashed through Sett's mind.
It was a tad bit stronger than him, faster, too. But it had a less durable body—and a less tactile mind.

Sett moved before the lion did, shouting: "You can harm it but leave the kill to me!"
It was indeed time to put this bastard of an ally to his use.
Shining Gold licked his lips. "I was waiting to remove my trauma anyway."
Then, a golden sword appeared in his hand, bright and agile.
Axiom of Metal—Sword of Gold.
