Chapter 216: Chapter 213: Let’s Talk About Tomorrow’s Matters Tomorrow

"Ah, then I really might not be able to put you up. I only have one guest room, and a very close friend from Melbourne is coming the day after tomorrow. In that case, I’m probably not the right person to take you in," Yan Yan clarified a practical issue.

The issue that Yan Yan mentioned was the actual truth behind her earlier "Uh."

But she hadn’t finished speaking before Jiao Zhifei carried the conversation away with his requests for "room and board and shopping" and jokes about her "fearing her brother-in-law."

"Let’s talk about the day after tomorrow’s issue tomorrow; for now, let’s just take a ham home," Jiao Zhifei cheerfully suggested.

"I don’t want any ham," Yan Yan rejected Jiao Zhifei’s proposal without hesitation.

"Ah? Why not? It’s obviously delicious, look at your plate; it looks like a tornado swept through it," Jiao Zhifei couldn’t understand the reason behind Yan Yan’s refusal.

"The platter looks like a tornado?" Yan Yan couldn’t agree with her little brother’s description.

"Devoured like by a storm, nothing left," Jiao Zhifei pointed at the "table" in front of Yan Yan.

"Nonsense, I only ate the ham. There’s still so much cheese left, and the pancakes are all there. I’m not like you," Yan Yan didn’t have Jiao Zhifei’s rocket-speed when it came to demolishing food.

"I’ve just eaten three meals for the day, and you’ve only had one," Jiao Zhifei had his first meal of the day today.

Yan Yan looked at Jiao Zhifei; she really wanted to apologize and tell him that she should have believed sooner that he came to Italy to find her.

But if she did that, Jiao Zhifei would surely take it to the next level, and his quirky thought process would have been wasted by Yan Yan.

She could only suppress her guilt, comforting herself in her heart: Jiao Zhifei was in this mess only because his phone was dead.

If that was the reason, then even if she had believed him at the first phone call, the reality probably wouldn’t have changed significantly.

"Seeing the original look of the ham would seriously affect my appetite.

Besides, cutting a slice of ham really tests a person’s knife skills.

I may be good at making architectural models, but slicing ham? No thanks.

If it’s not cut well, it just doesn’t taste right.

With my home so close, I can come and eat whenever I want.

You’re planning to buy a whole ham, aren’t you? Please don’t, okay?" Although Yan Yan was still refusing, her tone had shifted to one that Jiao Zhifei would find nauseating.

Jiao Zhifei didn’t throw up as he claimed he would; the thick-skinned Jiao Zhifei probably didn’t even notice the change in Yan Yan’s tone.

"Old Sister, what do you mean the original look affects your appetite? How could you judge a ’leg’ by its appearance?" Jiao Zhifei wasn’t sticking up for himself but felt it was unfair for the ham.

Yan Yan was a foodie with standards, and wasting good ingredients was the last thing she wanted to see others do, and certainly, something she wouldn’t do herself.

However, more important than ham, Yan Yan had another issue she hadn’t resolved.

"I’m serious, I really have a good friend coming from Melbourne to see me on Monday," Yan Yan brought the topic back.

"Let them come; what friend could be more important than your own little brother? You wouldn’t really kick me out to accommodate someone else, would you?" Jiao Zhifei was brimming with confidence.

"You are the most important brother in the whole universe, but Baobao is a girl, and I’ve freeloaded at Baobao’s family in Melbourne for quite a while," Yan Yan explained her pre-existing plans without much confidence.

"Is she beautiful?" Jiao Zhifei derailed the conversation again.

"When it comes to looks, she’s certainly exceptional," Yan Yan spoke the truth.

"Well, that settles it, I don’t mind sharing a room with a beautiful girl," Jiao Zhifei replied as if it was a matter of course.

"Uh..." Yan Yan had an expression as if she had never seen Jiao Zhifei before.

"Old Sister, why are you ’uh’-ing again?" Jiao Zhifei expressed his surprise.

"You don’t mind, but have you thought about asking if she minds?" Yan Yan very gently inquired with her little brother.

"I don’t care whether she minds or not. There has to be some reason, a first-come-first-served basis," Jiao Zhifei believed that the truth was obviously on his side.

"Uh..." Yan Yan was left speechless again for the nth time today.

"Old Sister, please stop ’uh’-ing; haven’t I said to leave the day after tomorrow’s concerns for tomorrow?" Jiao Zhifei decided to end the conversation.

Yan Yan thought it over and didn’t continue the topic.

The biggest advantage of living downtown is that everything is close by, whether it’s restaurants or hotels.

There are several hotels near Strozzi Palace, so there wouldn’t be a problem finding a place for Baobao or even letting Baobao or her own little brother crash on the couch.

"Alright, I’ll listen to you this once. Even though you make no sense, you are still my brother," Yan Yan agreed uncharacteristically, deciding to compromise.

After Yan Yan finished speaking, Jiao Zhifei asked the waiter to bring over a whole ham.

"You’re really going to take such a big ham home?" Yan Yan’s face was lined with consternation.

"Didn’t you say you’d listen to me?" Jiao Zhifei used his expression to accuse Yan Yan of going back on her word.

"I meant I’d accommodate you for tonight and let things go from there," Yan Yan wasn’t sure if Jiao Zhifei genuinely misunderstood or if he was doing it on purpose.

"So, are you going to put me up tomorrow night, too?" Jiao Zhifei asked Yan Yan.

"Of course, I must," Yan Yan said with certainty.

"What about the day after tomorrow?" Jiao Zhifei continued.

"Didn’t you say we’ll talk about it tomorrow?" Yan Yan, after only two minutes of gentle conversation, started to feel exasperated with Jiao Zhifei again.

"There’s only one day between today and the day after tomorrow, and you still want to wait until tomorrow to discuss it; wouldn’t that mess up your life? How can you live without any planning?" Jiao Zhifei criticized Yan Yan seriously.

Yan Yan glared at Jiao Zhifei and then chose to ignore him altogether.

She had experienced Jiao Zhifei’s blowing things out of proportion before; this was not the first time and certainly wouldn’t be the last.

"Old Sister, why are you glaring at me? Not only do you lack comprehension, but you also get angry for no reason. My brother-in-law must have had his eyes closed when he woke up to have fallen for you," Jiao Zhifei returned to his usual antics after a mere two minutes.

"Do you believe I can make it so that you won’t be able to see me even with your eyes open?" Yan Yan raised two fingers and moved them towards Jiao Zhifei’s eyes.

"Look at you, getting angry is one thing, but you’re also violent. A girl should be graceful in the hall and adept in the kitchen, virtuous, gentle, and poised in every move. Do you understand?

Jiao Zhifei pressed down Yan Yan’s hand that was extended towards his eyes when he spoke about being poised and also gestured to his elder sister to stand properly.
