Kill the Sun-Chapter 945 Ally
Nick returned to working with the Shields, but he was still nervous.
He had answered the Champion's request, and he could only hope that he had done the right thing.
After some years, Nick checked the fable again.
Sure enough, a third volume was added.
When Nick read that, his eyes narrowed.
'He even knows about the underground city, the Fiend of Darkness, and the Nightmare,' Nick realized.
In this volume, Nick the Farm Ender exposed himself as a literal wolf in sheep's clothing.
Nick the Farm Ender managed to find a hole in the fence, and by studying the fence extensively, he managed to create his own fence.
He made another enclosure far away from the prying eyes of the farm owner, outside the wolves' territory.
Over time, Nick the Farm Ender kidnapped several sheep and gave them a home in his enclosure.
He did that so that the sheep could grow outside the farm owner's eyes and become strong enough to fight the wolves and the evil farm owner.
This volume ended with the farmhand watching the sheep being taken away by Nick the Farm Ender.
In his eyes, Nick the Farm Ender was killing sheep, just like the farm owner, and he felt conflicted.
He didn't know about the secret farm, and because of that, both options were horrible.
Nick the Farm Ender, the farm owner, and the wolves were all equally bad.
He didn't know what to do.
'I have no choice but to tell him about the future,' Nick thought.
So, Nick added a fourth volume.
This one mainly focused on the farmhand and Nick the Farm Ender.
The two of them came into contact, and the farmhand asked what he should do.
Was there a way to save the flock?
"Yes, but we need more time," Nick the Farm Ender said.
"The flock can't be saved. It is too big. We are not strong enough to fight the wolves yet."
"Is there any way we can save the flock?" the farmhand spoke.
"No," Nick answered. "You do not have the power."
"But we can save the new flock that will arrive when the old one gets fed to the wolves."
"I can infiltrate the wolves since I am a wolf myself, but I am not strong enough to fight the lead wolf."
"I have to consume more sheep before I can fight the lead wolf."
"When it is time, I will kill the lead wolf, but I am not strong enough to kill the other wolves."
"That's why I need the sheep. They need to be strong enough to fend for themselves."
The farmhand looked with worry at Nick the Farm Ender.
"Can I help during the fight?" he asked.
The wolf in sheep's clothing looked away.
"The farm owner always gets a new farmhand when he rebuilds his farm."
"The old farmhand knew what was going on and warned some of the sheep, but the farm owner found out and fired him."
"If you do the same thing, you will share his fate."
The volume ends with the farmhand looking helplessly at Nick the Farm Ender.
Nick sighed after he wrote the last part.
'Now, it's all up to him.'
Nick went back to work with the Shields, but he regularly checked the database for updates.
It took a couple of years, but eventually, the last volume was added.
The last volume told the story of the farmhand.
The farmhand would act like he was chasing Nick the Farm Ender, but he would never truly get him.
The farm owner wouldn't suspect a thing.
In the end, all the sheep in the enclosure would die, and the farm owner would fire the farmhand.
But then, a long time later, a wolf would kill the lead wolf while leading an army of sheep.
The farmhand was no longer there.
The old flock was no longer there.
But the new flock, under the leadership of Nick the Farm Ender, would survive and live in the wild.
A happy ending, although a slightly tragic one.
The message was clear.
'I faulted the old Right Arm and the Inferno for talking,' Nick thought.
'And yet, they helped me.'
'It was a risk, but maybe they knew something I didn't.'

'I knew the Champion when he was younger, but I barely had any contact with him.'
'Centuries have passed since then.'
'They have seen the Champion grow and change.'
'Maybe they believed that the Champion had humanity in his heart all along.'
'I would have never expected that the Champion would become my ally in the end.'
'Sadly, like everyone else, he will vanish when the era resets.'
'At that point, I will be completely alone.'
Sometimes, enemies became allies, and allies became enemies.
The world had a funny way of changing dynamics between people.
Sometimes, committing a mistake was actually the right choice.
'Killing Wyntor and allying myself with a Specter are mistakes.'
'And yet, these things brought me to where I am today.'
'Without them, humanity wouldn't have any hope.'
Nick's head was filled with abstract thoughts about reality.
It was clear.
He would become an Eternal.
Without the Champion trying to stop him, there was no way Nick couldn't become an Eternal.
And with that, the stage would be set.
Nick remembered the False Prophet's last prophecy.
'I will die during the final battle.'
'If there is a final battle, it means I managed to infiltrate the alien base.'
'Although, the False Prophet could also be wrong.'
'In any case, I need to be prepared for my death.'
'As long as there is a final battle, I will have achieved my goal.'
'If I die during it, so be it.'
Far away, the Champion looked at his office with narrowed eyes.
His eyes were filled with conviction.
'The Sun is the enemy.'
'The Sun is not protecting us from the aliens but works for them.'
'Now, I understand why the Left Arm and the Technician were willing to sacrifice themselves for Julian Winter.'
'Nick Dusk.'
'What a fitting name.'
'I will not be there to see humanity succeed.'
'But I will put all my faith in Nick Dusk.'
'He is the one who will kill the Sun!'
