"I didn't see them coming..." Gilderoy muttered softly, just loud enough for Allura to hear.

"Really?" His wife was shocked as she studied the child and parent. A trace of wariness flashed on her face. "Is this a conspiracy then?"

Allura knew just how absurd Gilderoy's eyes were. It allowed him to see things that are usually hidden from the naked eye. Even amongst other races famed for their unusual visual prowess, Gilderoy's eyes were a cut above the rest. In fact, it's one of the key pieces that allowed him to master magic so quickly.

Gilderoy's eyes can observe everything that's happening in an entire continent at base. If he pushes it, he could probably even extend it to cover the entire planet. That's how powerful his eyes were.

And to think that this was something he inherited from his father...

The most important fact right now is that, even with his absurd visual prowess, Gilderoy admitted that he didn't see these two coming at all. Allura knows that he wasn't lying because her husband isn't one to compromise on their safety, not after all they've been through. That's why she couldn't help but wonder if this was some sort of conspiracy.

Gilderoy didn't reply right away. Instead, he chose to observe the parent and child first before making any further judgment.

'I've seen their kind before. If I recall correctly, they are called Crystal Sprites,' Gilderoy mused to himself.

Crystal Sprites are creatures born from Glintstone Crystals—a unique mineral that contains abundant magical properties. Not all Glintstone Crystals can breed Crystal Sprites, though. For that to be possible, extremely rigid and strict requirements needed to be observed and followed, and it just so happens that this world ticks everything on that list.

These creatures were energy-based lifeforms. They are impervious to physical attacks due to their unique structure, yet it also makes them extremely susceptible to magical injuries since that's the only real threat to their existence. This shows that, just like other creatures in the alliance, this race had their pros and cons.

Their appearance was the closest to the Holy Spirit race, but since they're practically made out of mana, they are more suited to magic instead of spiritual arts. Though that doesn't mean that they can't practice the latter.

Crystal Spites aren't really famous in the alliance. They're registered to the database, yes, but there was anything noteworthy about them. They have no leader, no stellar achievements, and they don't even have a 'homeworld' because of the rigid requirements for their conception. They just...exist, mostly because they're creatures born from rare natural phenomena.

As he observed the two closely, though, he discovered the reason why they escaped his senses, and it's coming from the child, not the parent.

"Ah, I see," Gilderoy hummed in amusement. "This kid has talent."

"What do you mean?" Allura asked in confusion.

"The reason why he managed to escape my senses was because his aura blended with nature. Due to my affinity with nature, of course any environment I'm in treats me well, seeing me as a friend or something."

"Because of that connection, I didn't see them any different from, like, let's say, a leaf or a tree; if I wasn't looking for them purposefully, they would just be like a background detail to me, making me miss them even when they're very close."

"It's the kid who's able to do that, though, not his father. I don't know how, but that's exactly what happened; the kid himself might not even know that he could do this too."

"That might also be the reason why he managed to find us here. The nature of this world might've guided him to me, knowing that I could probably help them."

Although Gilderoy couldn't exactly speak to trees and the like, it was easy for him to deduce the hints they leave behind due to his deep understanding of wood and life laws. Even though the message wasn't complete, it was of no issue to him because he could piece all the hints together on his own.

Allura didn't doubt him. This wasn't the first time she witnessed Gilderoy's relationship with nature, after all. He's just that talented. So much so that even Mystic Faes pales in comparison to him.

Realizing that they're not a threat to them, Gilderoy's caution dropped significantly. He stood in between their beds and held out his arms towards them.

Sigh...

As he sighed, a verdant light bloomed on their bodies. As soon as it appeared, the pained and troubled expression of the unconscious pair relaxed greatly.

They already received initial treatment earlier. One that was just enough to stabilize their conditions. It's not that the couple was being indifferent; they're just being cautious. If these two turned out to be part of a conspiracy, then healing them back to their full health wouldn't be a wise decision, just a wasted effort instead.

Now that it's pretty much confirmed that they're not here to ruin this peaceful atmosphere at all, then it's fine to heal them completely.

As Gilderoy's healing magic did its thing to them, their expressions went from relaxed to blissful as they slept. All of their injuries were healed, and their health was restored to how it should be. Their breaths evened out, and it seems that they're even having a good dream.

All of this happened in a single minute. Displaying Gilderoy's mastery over magic and laws. And this was under the condition that he had never treated creatures like these before. This just shows how far he had come as a practitioner.

"Alright, they're fine now. Let's let them use this room for now; they'll come to us when they're awake." Gilderoy concluded this for now, leading Allura out of the room to leave the resting pair there.

**

A few hours later, the young crystal sprite roused from his slumber.

He felt light and airy, as if he was floating in clouds. He couldn't recall the last time he had felt this good; all he knows is that he loves this feeling, so much so that he didn't want to get up.

This was then followed by confusion. A frown appeared on his face because there's a nagging feeling within him. It's like he's forgetting something really important; he just couldn't remember it.

'What was I doing again before I slept? 'He asked himself as he snuggled deeper into his pillow.

'Oh right, I was working in the mines with my father...then, what? '

'An explosion? Yes, something like that happened.'

'Then came the screams...the monsters...! '

This is where everything came rushing back to him. His eyes snapped wide open as he frenetically got up from the bed and yelled:

"Pa! Where are you!?"

"Shut it, brat! Don't yell!"

The young crystal sprite looked to his side and saw his father's mildly annoyed expression.

"Oh...you're okay." The boy's expression relaxed after inspecting his father's state briefly. Then he started crying, crawling to his father's embrace.

The father's expression softened greatly as he comforted his boy. Even he couldn't believe that he was fine. In fact, not only was he fine, he never felt better in decades.

Whoever healed him didn't just heal his major injuries; they even treated the deep injuries that accumulated on his body due to improper or insufficient treatment and care he had in the past. Their benefactor was very thorough, it seems.

He also understood that he couldn't have possibly made it without his son. He could still remember that it was his son who was dragging him out of the mine before he lost consciousness. It was his son's fortune that brought them to this place to receive superb treatment.

"You did well, son. I'm proud of you. You were very brave."

His child just whimpered and burrowed his face deeper into his body.

Technically, he and this child weren't related. Crystal Sprites can't reproduce on their own. They're born from natural phenomena. The only reason why they're this close is because he's the first person this child saw as soon as he was born, and he had been raising him since then. This was how Crystal Spites forges familial bonds.

However, even though this child's birth didn't have anything to do with him,. It didn't stop him from treating him like his true child. Even though there wasn't any real blood connection to speak of...or no blood at all for that matter, their bond transcends physical form, and that's more than enough.

In that accident, he was convinced that he would die. Before he lost consciousness, all that really mattered to him was his son. He felt worried about him surviving on his own. He didn't expect that his son would drag him all the way here in search of help. He couldn't help but be amazed by his son's luck because he actually found someone who's more than qualified to heal them.

Creak!

Both father and son looked at the source of the sound. They then saw a beautiful creature poking her head out to look at them. Seeing them awake, her eyes shone before saying,

"Oh, so both of you are awake. That's great. Join us downstairs when you can."
