Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking-Chapter 582: Gilderoy’s Adventure
--
Gilderoy opened his eyes, releasing a breath he held after a long while.
Tendrils of verdant energy fizzled around his body before fading away; his aura then converged, blending with the surrounding nature, making him seem no more ordinary than a mortal.
He stared at the sky, squinting at the glare of sunlight. He then observed his surroundings and discovered that it had been three days since he sat here in meditation.
Standing up, his expression turned a bit strange as his joints popped due to inactivity. He stretched to lubricate those joints and become more comfortable in his movements again, which didn't take too long.
After that, he scanned his surroundings, searching for his wife. He didn't have to look too far since he immediately discovered where she was. A gentle smile appeared on his face as he kicked and appeared right behind her. He wrapped his arms around her narrow waist and felt his heart at ease hearing her pleased hum.
"Hey," he greeted softly.
"Hey to you, as well." Allura chuckled, feeling her husband planting a kiss on her cheek. "Go freshen up while I finish this; I'll join you at the table."
Gilderoy then looked down at the pot she was stirring. He raised a brow and asked, "When did you learn Mom's recipe? She didn't even teach me that."
"Oh, she already taught me before we got married. I just didn't say anything because I wanted to surprise you." Allura giggled.
"Ugh, no fair," he grumbled, but of course, he wasn't really serious. If anything, this makes him even happier than learning it himself.
"Come on, go take a shower already." Allura nudged him off.
Gilderoy smiled, kissing her again before going to the bathroom. Upon getting there, he's a little surprised to see a warm herbal bath already prepared for him. Of course, it was none other than his wife who made this.
It's as if she knew exactly when his meditation would end. Being known like this made Gilderoy giddy.
He took off his clothes and soaked in the tub. Sighing in comfort as he felt the warmth touching and nourishing his body. This was just the perfect thing to have after a long meditation session. This herbal bath was specifically made to soothe his mind and relieve mental stress.
As he took his time soaking, Gilderoy recalled his recent trips with his wife.
Their honeymoon was over. They no longer went to other worlds to experience luxury and bask in each other's love and presence at the time, though this doesn't mean that their feelings for each other faded. If anything, it burns even more fiercely than before because they're more secure now.
Right now, Gilderoy's main focus was to increase his strength while touring the alliance with his wife. He hasn't forgotten his father's lesson: that the most effective security was strength. So long as he's strong, he and his loved ones would be safe no matter where they go in the alliance.
Actually, Gilderoy could've stayed in Solaris Prime as he increased his strength. Because at least there, he wouldn't have to be wary of anyone. Moreover, he could stay with his mother as well and keep her company along with his wife.
That said, Gilderoy knew that his growth would be stifled there. Not in virtue of actual progress, but in terms of mental growth instead.
Gilderoy knew that he had to see the world with his own eyes. He has been sheltered enough at home, and while it allowed him to grow in a stable manner, it will become his shackles moving forward, and that's not something his parents would want for him. That's why they allowed him to fly off their nest.
He never regretted this decision, though. Because if it weren't for this freedom, his cultivation wouldn't be as smooth as it is now. And more importantly, he wouldn't have met his lovely wife.
Though there were some hiccups along the way. He was able to handle them just fine.
Just like Gerald, Gilderoy was on the cusp of breaking through the Transitional Realm. He just had to master the Cosmic Furnace Spell, and he'd be good to go.
So far, he has already mastered the five fundamental element refinements. Gaining insights into space, time, and lightning laws was harder than he initially expected, but he wasn't in a hurry since he had time.
Right, because of the Cosmic Furnace Spell, Gilderoy's strength inadvertently saw a steep increase. His mastery over the concept laws of fire, water, metal, wood, and earth elevated his magic. So much so that he was now confident to face any Archfae and defeat them with skills alone.
Of course he wouldn't start provoking the Mystic Fae race now that he had this ability. He's not that dumb. Besides, the Mystic Fae Chancellor himself did him a massive favor. If he were to cause havoc for no real reason on his turf, that would be akin to biting the hand that fed him. Gilderoy isn't that kind of person.
Knowing that he achieved this level of strength is enough. If someone were to test him, he wouldn't mind showcasing his skills either. But currently, he's more than happy to remain a passerby. The peace and serenity he's experiencing with his wife is something that he cherishes greatly. He wouldn't do anything to ruin that on purpose.
As he and his wife traveled, they visited cosmic realms and worlds that are open to the public. They chose those that are popular tourist spots according to the legit rankings online, and none have disappointed them so far.
But beyond the tourist spots, Gilderoy and Allura also visited worlds that preserved nature.
Gilderoy's affinity with nature was the strongest, greatly surpassing all of his other affinities. In fact, Wood Laws was something that came so naturally to him that he didn't even have to think or actively pursue it. He was a being loved and embraced by all nature — the Son of Nature.
Allura was a Royal Fae herself; as much as she disliked that term, she couldn't truly deny the advantages that came with it. However, even with her innate affinity towards nature, her talent couldn't surpass her husband's, but she's quite alright with that.
"Babe! Food's ready!"
Gilderoy woke up from his stupor. He hollered, "Coming!" as he rinsed himself off, dried his body, and changed into a more comfortable set of clothes.
Allura was already waiting at the table when he came down; she had already prepared everything. All Gilderoy had to do was to sit down and start eating.
"Smells good," he praised, much to the glee of his wife. He then took a bite of his food, and his eyes lit up with surprise and a hint of nostalgia.
"Damn! That tasted exactly like how she makes it," he muttered softly but loud enough for his wife to hear. He then turned to her and said, "You did great, Babe. I love this."
Gilderoy planted a kiss on her forehead before chowing down eagerly. Allura blushed, feeling pleased and relieved at this.
He has no idea how nerve-wracking this was for her. He didn't know just how many times she tried to make this recipe only to fail again and again.
Humanity's culinary arts was something that Allura deeply studied whenever she could. It's a foreign concept to her and one that she was deeply fascinated by. Before she discovered it, she never thought that such tasty meals existed. It opened a brand new world and passion to her.
Despite its mundanity, Allura found it challenging but also very rewarding. Chrissy, her mother-in-law, even personally instructed her how to make Gilderoy's favorite meal. And although she came very close, hers was never quite the same, even after thousands of attempts, and this was with her following the recipe down to the punctuation marks.
She has gotten a lot of practice. And it was only very recently that she finally perfected it. And Gilderoy's reaction made all of her efforts worth it.
Such was the magic of culinary arts and love, she supposes.
If somebody were to tell her old self that a day like this, where she would try very hard to do something for someone to this extent, she would've laughed at them. But that's just how fate works, doesn't it?
It was Gilderoy who pulled her out of a miserable future. It was he who saw her for what she was instead of an asset or a tool for personal gain. And if these simple things could make him happy, then she's more than willing to work for it.
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
A series of loud knocks interrupted the peace and serene atmosphere of their temporary home. The couple looked at each other before standing up at the same time to see what the commotion was about.
As they opened the door, they were met with a pair of frantic and desperate eyes owned by a teenage creature clutching somebody who looked like an adult version of the visitor, yet this one was obviously gravely injured.
"Please, I beg of you...save my father!"
That's all he managed to say before he passed out in their front door.
