Chapter 151: Get Me My Freedom

Hannah pushed Matthew off her, she hurriedly got up from the sofa, her head shaking from side to side, panicked at his sudden confession.

"Matthew, you don’t know what you’re saying-"

"Han, I still want you-"

She raised her voice, "You don’t! Because, after what you did to me, you can’t seriously think I’d still feel the same way about you." She straightened her clothes, then pushed her hair back, getting a clearer view of Matthew’s hurt expression.

Her heart sunk, ’It’s not fair, you’re the one who hurt me, so why are you making me feel guilty?’

She turned to the door, and held the handle, "You want to get married? Go ahead, I’ll support you. Just, don’t ever say that to me," she gardened her voice, "Because it will never happen." She said then left the fitting room.

Matthew tried to go after her, but his phone rang, stealing his attention. He stared briefly at the screen, to see it was Tara calling, yet again. He hissed and disconnected the call, but another one came in, this time from an unknown number.

He raised a brow, his number was almost impossible to get, he answered the call and brought it to his ear.

"Hello-"

"Anna got run over by a motorcycle!" a man’s voice yelled over the sound of panicked voices in the background.

"What?!" Matthew raised his voice, "Where are you?!" he demanded, rushing out of the fitting room.

"We’re at...."

Matthew pushed back the hospital’s door, and rushed into the room, where Anna sat with a cast on her leg, and one on her left hand.

"Anna what the fuck?!" Matthew marched over to her bed, "What the hell happened?"

"Thank you for worrying about me, I feel so loved." She sarcastically replied, her eyes sharpened into a glare.

"If you don’t tell me what happened, I really will call your brother." He threatened.

Anna’s eyes widened, "No! No! Please, not him!" she begged in a pleading voice.

Matthew sighed, "Fine, but tell me, why you were at that place. The person who called for help, tell me why the hell he wasn’t there with you, what the fuck is going on!"

"Nothing I swear it! I was just crossing the road, and the bike came out of nowhere, but...but..." she sniffled, "I didn’t ..." she paused and scratched the back of her head, "I don’t know...it’s all a blur."

"What were you doing there? That area is dangerous."

"I was just meeting some friends-"

"What are their names? What families do they belong to?" he demanded.

Anna laughed. "Since when did you become so responsible? Come on Matt, I called you over because you’re the fun cousin. So let’s just keep this between us, my dad and mom would flip if they found out about this."

He frowned, "You think they won’t find out?"

"That’s why I called you. You’re going to help me come up with a cover story." She said.

"Cover story?"

She smiled, "Yes, you’ll tell them that I was with you when the accident happened, on your motorcycle, and you were the one who was drunk and got me into this state." She told him.

Matthew folded his arms, "And why would I go through the trouble to make myself look bad?" He huffed, "Grandmother would just hate me even more, same goes for the rest of the family."

"Well, you can choose not to help, however, I can’t help to control whatever that comes out of my mouth. I could tell cousin Thane, about what you did that night, and then, he might just finally hate you." Her words were teasing and lacked any empathy.

Matthew hissed, "You think I can’t report you to Maverick? Tell on me, and I’ll snitch too."

She sniffled, "And who would take your word over mine? Who would believe that me? The model granddaughter, top of her class, innocent and reserved would get caught up in something so scandalous?" She laughed.

"Compared to you, the jealous younger brother, with no worth whatsoever to his name. Come to think of it, do you parents even know about that?" She asked.

Matthew frowned, "What are you talking about?"

She pinched her chin, "Don’t play dumb, the thing you did back when you were dating that maid’s granddaughter, Hannah was it?"

Matthew’s expression went pale. "How did you..."

"Desmond has loose lips, just a bit of sweet talking and that idiot sang like a canary. Still, I’m surprised that you haven’t been kicked out of the family after that stunt. Whereas Zelda..." she took a pause and let out a sigh.

"The past is in the past, I didn’t have you come all the way here for something that insignificant." She started off. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

"So? What’s the catch? Aside making me look like a complete idiot in front of the family, there’s something else you want, isn’t there?" He inquired, his gaze fixed on Anna’s malicious grin.

"You aren’t Thane’s brother for nothing, looks like there is a brain up there."

Matthew rolled his eyes, he was used to being berated by his family, it wasn’t anything new.

Revealing her intentions, she told him, "Wire me thirty million, and I’ll keep my mouth shut."

"Why the hell are you asking me for money? You could just ask Maverick or even grandmother, they’d give it to you." He asked, suspicion in his eyes.

She shook her head, "I’m not done. After you wire me the money, I want you to find a way to get me to go with cousin Thane, away from this country."

"What?"

"I hear his wife is an actress and filming for her new film is about to begin. He’s leaving soon, and I don’t want to be left behind." She explained.

"You know it’s not that easy to leave-"

"But somehow you were granted permission to. I don’t care how you do it dear cousin, but get me the money," she clenched her fingers into a tight fist. "And get me my freedom..."
