Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 150: His Darling
Chapter 150: His Darling
"Sir? Are you alright?" Brooke asked, after Reginald went silent.
"I’m sorry, I spaced out." He admitted, "What did you say your name was?"
She repeated the answer. "Brooke." She said, "And I asked for yours sir, or is that a problem?"
He shook his head and passed her his business card, she looked at the company card which didn’t have his name, just the name of the business.
’Maybe he’s really just that conservative, I imagine Mr Grayson wouldn’t go around just telling people his real identity.’ She figured, keeping the business card.
"Sir, about the phone, you will need to get a new one-" her words were cut short by a ring from her phone. She quickly picked it up to see it was Scott calling.
"Brooke, is there an issue?" he asked.
She declined the call, "No, it’s nothing serious, just some personal matter." She said, passing his phone back to him. "You should get a new phone first, and have someone close to you help setup the account."
Reginald smiled. "Of course, thank you so much for the help."
Brooke smiled back, "It was my pleasure, talking to you really helped calm down my nerves."
"I could say the same thing." He tucked his phone into his pocket, "I hope we run into each other again." He greeted, then waved her goodbye.
Brooke waved back, then watched him disappear into the hospital building.
"He must be here to see his family member." Brooke thought, staring at the business card, it looked old, yet classic, just like the man she had just met.
Her thoughts were sharply penetrated when her phone rang, she huffed and checked who it was. And sure enough, it was Scott calling.
She answered, as she wheeled into the elevator. "Hi, dad." She forced a polite tone, keeping up with the lie he and Serena had been feeding her.
When Jen arrived at the office, she noticed all their colleagues were huddled together, discussing something. Without going over, she knew what they were talking about.
Avery’s desk mate rushed over to Jen and held her by the elbow. "Jen! What the hell happened to Avery? I just got the news-"
Jen shrugged her off, "I don’t know." She headed for the elevator, her gaze pointed to the floor.
The woman followed after her. "We’re all going to see her later at the hospital. You should come too-" she offered, latching onto her arm, but Jen pushed her away, causing her to fall.
"Hey! What’s your problem?!" she screamed, drawing the attention of the other workers.
"Hey, what’s going on there?"
"Is that a fight?"
"Isn’t that Jen?"
Soon, they circled around Jen, making her head spin at all the voices calling out to her from all directions.
Avery’s desk mate got up and faced Jen, "I just asked you to see Avery, I thought she was your friend!"
Jen covered her ears with her palms and closed her eyes, her heart racing, flashes of Avery’s body flashed before her head. Her vision blurred and her knees weakened, she nearly fainted, but an arm wrapped itself around her waist, supporting her weight.
"That’s enough! All of you, scram!" Ethan’s voice rang out.
The sound of his voice made Jen’s body stiffen, she tried to get away but he tightened his grip, pinching her sides so painfully she had to bite her tongue not to let out a wince.
Everyone at the office saw the waist placement, and couldn’t help but raise a brow. Avery’s desk mate turned to leave, but Ethan stopped her.
"As for you, I want you out of this company by the end of the hour." He announced, firing her.
The woman blinked twice, utterly confused, "S-Sir-"
"You heard right, I want you out of the company, now!" he ordered, his hand still on Jen’s waist.
Realization kicked in swiftly and painfully that she had just lost her job. "Sir, I don’t understand, w-why am I getting fired?" she asked.
"Because, people who have no regard for other people have no right working here." He started off, then, in a louder voice he said, "That goes for the rest of you lot. Anyone who gives Jen a hard time in this office will answer to me. Am I understood?!"
His employees nodded, afraid to go against the CEO.
He turned to the woman already in tears and said, "By the end of the hour." He reminded her, then walked towards the elevator, with Jen in his tight hold, unable to get away.
Everyone else at the elevator fled the scene, allowing Ethan and Jen to go in. Once the elevator doors closed, Ethan’s face contorted into a deep frown.
He smacked her face, sending her falling to the ground.
"Stupid bitch! How dare you wear these? After I bought you all those expensive things! Ungrateful wench!" he cursed, towering over her frightened body.
In tears, Jen defended, "I didn’t want to stand out-"
He cut her off with a sharp kick to her gut, "Excuses!" he crouched down and picked her by her hair, forcing her to stand.
"The next time you waste my kindness, you will regret it. Am I clear?" he whispered loudly into her ear, pulling hard on her locks of hair.
She nodded, her face filled with snot and tears.
"I asked you a question, Jen."
"Yes sir!" she answered.
Satisfied, Ethan released her. He reached into his suit and took out a black handkerchief. He dabbed it gently on her face, wiping her face clean.
"Why do you love provoking me? Why Brooke?" he asked.
Jen froze, wondering who he had gone and mistaken her for.
Ethan went on, "I work so hard to take care of the both of us, so why won’t you see how much I love you?" he asked, his eyes softened, as he imagined Brooke crying underneath his touch.
He smiled, "That’s enough crying, now, give me a smile." He said.
Jen quickly smiled, amidst the tears that streamed from the sides of her face.
"That’s my darling." He said, then planted a kiss on the red mark from the slap he gave her earlier.
