Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 140: His Brother’s Shadow
Chapter 140: His Brother’s Shadow
In hopes to raise her spirits, Hannah decided it was time to tell Brooke all about what had been happening back at the city.
"Mrs Grayson, there’s something I have to tell you." She started.
Brooke weakly raised her head, "What is it, Hannah?"
Hannah took a deep breath before responding, "Mr Grayson has already set his plan in motion, to take down Cassie Crane."
Brooke frowned, "What?" She asked in disbelief, "He didn’t even tell me anything." Her features softened into a sad demeanor.
Realizing her blunder, Hannah quickly held her hand, "He only kept you in the dark about this because you were focused on the audition and with helping Sadie and with Luther in prison."
Brooke rested her hand on Hannah’s shoulder, "Hannah, you don’t need to soften the blow." She raised her chin and relaxed her shoulders, recovering rather faster than Hannah would expect.
"So, what’s the plan?"

Malcolm and Rosalind thought they were appalled by the sight of Matthew, bruised and dirtied. However, when they saw Vance, the couple knew that things had taken a bad turn.
Rosalind leaned in and whispered to her husband, "I can sense a ploy here."
Malcolm retorted sharply, "That makes two of us."
On cue, Godfrey and his wife, Amanda marched into the premises, wearing furious expressions, with a distraught looking Mallory following closely behind.
"Godfrey, what is the matter? You sounded, upset over the phone." Malcolm recalled the phone call that made him drop everything at the office and come home.
Before Godfrey could answer, Vance said, "Your son tried to force himself on my cousin, Mallory!"
Rosalind and Malcolm exchanged sharp glances with each other, then turned their attention to Matthew, who looked ready to kill somebody.
He tried to speak, but his father spoke first, whilst his mother signalled him to remain quiet.
"My son did?" Malcolm asked in a calm tone, he turned to Mallory, "Can you tell me what really happened-"
Amanda abruptly stood in front of her daughter, "Are you calling my daughter a liar?!" she glared, "Just to protect this reckless son of a bitch?"
Rosalind folded her hands, "You really can’t give a pig a gold ring. After all your years in high society, you still haven’t grown some class."
Amanda scoffed, "As if old money is something to flaunt."
She had always felt inferior to Rosalind, just because she got married into a family of generational wealth, whereas, the Rosamunds gained their wealth much later.
"This has nothing to do with that, let’s go upstairs to my study and have the children tell us what happened-" Malcom tried to mediate, but Godfrey would not have it.
"That boy snuck into our villa and tried to do the unthinkable, it isn’t too much to ask for some accountability. Now is it?"
Rosalind narrowed her eyes, "And just how do you imagine we take this accountability?" freewēbnoveℓ.com
The Rosamunds exchanged sharp glances with each other, Godfrey straightened his shirt and said, "We’ll have to speak with the head of the family about that."
"Matthew is my son! Anything you want to discuss, you can say to me. And only me." Malcolm stated clearly, his wife stood next to him in support.
She had a feeling that the Rosamunds would pull a stunt like this, seeing how adamant they were to marry into the family. Not to mention that they insisted on having the conversation in the open, meaning they wanted the family to find out and intervene.
Unfortunately, just as she realized this, did Sophia, accompanied by Laura and her son Desmond, step out of the elevator.
"Godfrey, Amanda, what are you both doing here?" Sophia asked, feigning ignorance.
Rosalind had noticed a maid leave the premises and head for the elevator. She could tell that the Rosamunds had reached their target audience.
Godfrey signalled his wife to speak first, which she spared no time in doing. "Sophia, I wish I came here baring good news, but sadly that’s not the case." She sniffled, and started to cry.
"Your grandson over here has done the unthinkable!" She cried, putting on a show.
Rosalind parted her lips, "Sophia she’s-"
Sophia raised her palm, "Quiet! I want to hear from her what happened." Sophia strictly said.
Amanda pushed her daughter forward, "He snuck into our Villa and he...he..." she sobbed, unable to say anything else.
Malcolm rolled his eyes, "My son did no such thing, in the first place how could he manage to get into such a well secured place."
Godfrey frowned, "And what are you trying to say? That my daughter would lie?"
Rosalind chimed, "Your daughter hasn’t said a word."
Sophia hissed, "Rosalind! Have you no manners! The poor thing is terrified-"
"No! I’m not." Mallory cut in, walking in front of her mother. She turned her gaze to Matthew, who had been suspiciously quiet. "He got in because I let him in, and no, he didn’t do anything wrong to me. We can run a test at any hospital to check."
Matthew stared at her, surprised that she would stand up for him.
Rosalind went on, "You hear that, Amanda? Your daughter has confirmed it, my son would never stoop that low." she tried to convince them.
But Vance was adamant, "My cousin has always been weak willed, we saw her faint at that party the other day. A little shove and she’ll sing whatever note you desire."
Sophia nodded, "It isn’t far fetched to believe that a brat like Matthew would do something of the sort. He’s reckless and taints the family’s name with every action he takes." She laughed, "Had it not been for his older brother’s shadow, he would have no where else to hide."
Desmond swiftly added, "He has always been jealous of his older brother, it’s no surprise he tried to forcefully take what isn’t his. He tried to get Brooke, but it didn’t work out."
Nearly everyone gasped at the timely reveal. Laura held Desmond by the wrist, "That’s enough son-"
"No Laura! Let the boy speak! Tell us, what you saw." Sophia encouraged.
Desmond shook off his mother’s grip and went on with his narration, "I saw him enter Thane’s bedroom when Thane had left his wife alone. And he stayed inside there for quiet some time."
Matthew balled his fists.
"And I caught him at the stables with my cousin, this bloody bastard dared to take advantage of her! And for this, my family won’t take it lightly. You have to take accountability and compensate us." Vance insisted.
At the mention of accountability, Sophia slightly frowned.
She had wanted a situation where one of Malcolm’s sons was embarrassed, embarrassed enough to make Zachiel turn against them. However, this talk of taking responsibility was not what she had in mind.
"Ah, yes." She however played along, "We Graysons are honourable people, we will definitely take responsibility. Even if it’s from the illegitimate branch of the family."
"No one is taking any responsibility, especially when it concerns my family issue. Sophia, you have no right to interfere-" Just as he said that, Edward marched into the house, with William in tow.
"My mother has every right as the matron of the family to intervene." Edward announced.
Rosalind pinched her temples, "Who the hell alerted these two?" She muttered under her breath.
With the number of people expanding, Mallory started to feel lightheaded. She did not do well with crowds, especially not ones that were this violent.
"Edward, what a coincidence you’re here." Rosalind sarcastically announced.
Edward ignored her and went over to his mother. "Father is in a business meeting with some important people, once he is done, I’ll call him up and have him know about the situation."
Malcolm glared sharply at his brother, "I didn’t know you had so much time on your hands to care for such trivial matters."
Laura cut in, "Everyone, please calm down-"
Edward’s voice drowned hers, "Trivial? This poor woman has been assaulted-"
Rosalind laughed, "And how did you know that? You just got here."
"I wasn’t speaking to you, Rosalind. Learn to mind your manners and know your place." He snarled at her.
Matthew and his father stared daggers at Edward for daring to speak to her in that manner.
Malcolm, gritted his teeth, "Watch your words, Edward."
William replied him, his sense of justice kicking in, "I believe it is your son that should watch his character. Though, I doubt that is possible, when his parents are always more than ready to cover up his awful behavior. It isn’t the first time Matthew has acted out of turn, so why are any of us surprised he could do something this drastic? He’s an embarrassment to the family, and he should be punished accordingly for it."
Hearing William go down that road, Vance swiftly spoke up. "We wouldn’t want this to become a huge spectacle and hurt our Mallory’s image. That’s why we’ve decided..." he looked to his uncle and aunt, who shared the same expression, urging him to go on with their plan.
"To have Matthew and Mallory be wedded!"
