Chapter 456: +Chapter 456+

Rosie expected to see a riot when she showed up, but the parking lot of Asher’s club looked relatively quiet. There were even armed men outside and they didn’t look panicked.

She shot a questioning look at Jael as she got out of the car, "What’s going on?"

Jael’s eyes were narrowed as he took in the surroundings as well, "Hell if I know." He walked over to hand her the gun she had given him, "Go through the back, tell the men I sent you and ask them to take you to Asher."

Rosie took her gun with relief, she didn’t quite feel safe in a Mafia King’s club without it. "And what about you?"

"I’m going to check the club to figure out what’s going on."

Rosie didn’t hesitate, her long legs eating up the pavement as she walked confidently forward like she belonged there.

Jael was also on the move, snagging one of the men closest to him to demand an explanation. "What the fuck is going on?"

The man hadn’t gotten over his shock of Jael’s sudden appearance, his eyes bulged as he tried to rack his brains for what had gone wrong enough to bring him over. "It’s been pretty quiet, a customer tried to start shit at the bar but was shut down quickly."

Jael’s brows were furrowed, a random shootout happened every now and then, Caspian being in heat was the troublesome addition. He casually stripped the Beta that had answered his question of his gun and then started for the club.

The club was quiet, well, as quiet as a club could get. He stopped right in front of the door and swept his gaze through the interior of the club, it seemed to get even quieter at his appearance like they were trying to be on their best behavior. With good reason too because Jael had his gun cocked, no one wanted to be on the receiving end of that.

With nothing to address in the club, he walked right through, heading to the back of the club to get a proper answer from Asher.

Outside the club, Rosie had just gotten to one of the back entrances, she didn’t bother putting her gun back in her bra, holding it casually.

"Jael sent me, take me to Asher." She said shortly, impatient.

The men gave her a once-over, they were curious but also cautious. "Sure." One accepted, leading her through.

Rosie couldn’t believe it had been that easy to convince them, she had expected some resistance but no one tried to stop her.

The man leading the way stopped in front of a door and jabbed at it, "The boss is in there."

Rosie knocked politely and pushed open the door gingerly, a firm grip on her gun like she expected to use it right away. She froze at the open door at the sight of the office in front of her.

Caspian was perfectly fine, and so was the office. The Omega was cradled in his mate’s arms, and he even seemed to be peacefully dozing off. Where was the shooting? He wasn’t even in heat.

Asher’s sharp gaze was on her, completely calm despite her sudden presence and the gun in her hand. "Where’s Jael?"

Caspian straightened up at Asher’s words, turning to the door to see Rosie standing there. His beautiful face brightened with a smile, "Rosie, you’re here... wait, why are you here?"

Rosie slowly dropped her gun, a frown on her face. "I thought..." She trailed off, stopping her efforts to explain, it was better to wait till Jael got here. "Jael is in the club, he should be here anytime soon. I’m supposed to take Caspian back to the mansion?" She added, remembering the task that Jael had given to her.

Caspian got off his husband’s legs, and Asher let him go, fine with Rosie being the one to drive his mate to the mansion.

"See you at home," Caspian leaned down to gift him a kiss, "Love you."

He was hurrying over to Rosie at the next moment, worried. "Did Jael make you come over? Aren’t you too busy for this?"

"He thought... we thought you were in heat so..." Rosie muttered, relieved that nothing had gone wrong but also ruffled that she had been worked up over nothing.

Jael showed up at the door then, gun also drawn and he made no move to put it down, aiming it right at Asher’s head.

"I’m not in heat, yet," Caspian smiled nervously, a faint flush on his face. "Asher was just overreacting. I didn’t know you’d drag Rosie along."

"I wanted to come," Rosie corrected, deflating— she had been hoping she would get to use her new gun. "I’ve got some free time on my hands, let me drive you back." She offered generously.

Rosie could steal the chance to say ’hi’ to Patty in person, Caspian was also a joy to be around. "I’ll meet you back at FluxCorp," She added to Jael, having a feeling that he would be spending some time at the club.

"Thank you," Caspian glanced over his shoulder at his mate before walking out with Rosie. "Sorry for troubling you," He stopped to say to Jael, letting Rosie take his wrist.

Rosie could easily pick up on the slight change in Caspian’s scent, Mafia King Asher might have exaggerated, but Caspian’s heat was already creeping up on him. She kept her grip on her gun steady and led the way out to the parking lot.

Jael hadn’t been upset with Caspian, but the Omega apologizing had dispelled more of his irritation. He watched them walk down the hallway hand in hand and then stepped inside Asher’s office, closing the door behind him ominously.

Asher already had his hands up in surrender, expression still calm. "Will bashing me over the head with a bat be enough?" He offered, contrite.

Jael narrowed his eyes, "I’ll give an answer when I’ve got a baseball bat in my hand." He muttered darkly, gun still cocked.

On an average day, he would be fine with his boss’ paranoia regarding his mate, he’d expect it even, but Rosie had gotten involved, so he would be whacking that hard head with a bat.
