Chapter 117: Chapter 117: Assault on Exalt(Part 2)

"Way too slow," Scoffed Ravella, as she easily evaded an incoming lightning bolt, before cracking her whip across towards her opponent while rapidly extending it out.

He quickly sprang back as the whip closed in on him and winced in pain as the end of the whip lashed the front of his chest, before twisting his body across in alarm as Ravella fired out a rapid light arrow at him, grazing the side of his right arm before she shot forward.

He stumbled slightly before unleashing a barrage of lightning bolts at her, which she easily evaded by weaving around, before whipping her arm across and firing out a rapid slashing wave of light.

He frantically sprang off to the left to try and evade it, before yelling out in agony as the light slash struck his left arm and sliced through, severing it before it hit the ground with a thud as blood violently sprayed out of the stump that was left of his arm.

Ravella then leapt forward as she closed in on him, her opponent stiffening in terror before she formed a light blade along her palm and swung it down, splitting his head in half and killing him.

"I-impossible! He was one of our strongest, h-how could he have been defeated so easily!?" Exclaimed one of the other members who was nearby in shock, before stumbling back in fear as Ravella turned her attention towards him.

"You’re kidding, this guy was one of your strongest members?" Responded Ravella in bemusement, before swinging her whip towards him with a sharp flick of her wrist, extending it out towards him as the whip sliced through the air with immense speed.

He began to try and scramble away, but was too slow to react, hissing in pain as the whip struck his left arm with a sharp thwack and wrapped around his forearm, before he was pulled off balance and stumbled forward as Ravella gave the whip a sharp tug and shot forward.

He desperately began to try and unwind the whip from around his forearm, before she swiftly fired out a rapid, piercing arrow of light, which hit his left eye and burst through, stabbing into his brain before his arms slumped to his sides as he collapsed onto his knees and hit the ground with a thud.

She then glanced to the left as a loud crash rang out in that direction, to see Tacitus slicing one of the Exalt members in half with a powerful downward swing of his sword.

As a couple of Spells came shooting towards him from behind, he activated his Nullification Zone around himself, the Spells getting negated as they entered its range, before he shot towards the assailants and leapt forward as he closed in.

One of them quickly raced away, but the other froze in panic, before Tacitus whipped his sword across, the large blade slicing through the air before striking the side of his target’s neck and tearing through, ripping his head off.

As the severed head hit the ground with a thud and rolled away, a fountain of blood sprayed out of the stump that was left around his neck, as the decapitated corpse went limp and collapsed onto the ground.

Tacitus then chased after the one who ran away, who fired off blasts of flames at him to try and slow him down, but it was no use. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

With his Nullification Zone active, Tacitus had no need to dodge or slow down, instead continuing to chase after the enemy at full speed, steadily closing the gap.

"G-get away from me, damn it! H-how the hell are you faster than me while carrying that heavy weapon!?"

"Yeah, I’m not gonna waste any effort answering that, seeing that you’re about to die," Responded Tacitus dryly, before springing forward as he closed in and drove his sword forward with a powerful thrust of his arm.

The end of the blade slammed onto the back of the neck of his target, a loud crunch echoing out as he shattered the bones in his neck upon impact, killing the man instantly.

Not too far away, an intense eruption of flames burst out fiercely, blowing away several of Exalt’s members as they let out cries of pain.

"Hm, that probably wasn’t the best move, I hit several of them but not fatally...and now they’re all scattered about," Sighed Jules, before turning her gaze back as a woman came charging in towards her from behind with a dagger in hand.

Jules began to turn around, before a rapid blur came zipping in towards the woman from her left, a curved blade whipping across and slicing through her neck before she even noticed, her body collapsing onto the ground and sliding forward as her head rolled away, a puddle of blood forming on the ground.

"You don’t have to stick so close, you know, it’ll be more efficient if we split up, Tilda," Remarked Jules in bemusement, as Tilda swung her scythe across to get the blood off it.

"Yeah, but...I still feel like I need to make up for stabbing you, Commander," Replied Tilda sheepishly.

"Don’t worry about that, I told you it’s time, and I certainly have no intention of holding it against you," Sighed Jules, as she fired out a piercing beam of flames at a man trying to sneak up behind Tilda, shooting a hole through the spot between his eyes.

"Even so, I can’t help but feel guilty about it."

"Fine, suit yourself. It looks like most of the enemy has been cut down already, anyway. The Irregulars in particular seem highly skilled at wiping out large numbers...especially her," Said Jules, nodding at Celia as a deafening explosion burst out in the distance, several body parts flying out as a dark cloud of dust billowed out and rose up.

Celia then spun around as an enemy sprang up behind her, swiftly shuffling across as he swung a sword down towards her, easily evading it before raising her right arm up defensively as he fired out a lightning bolt at her, which hit her gauntlet and dissipated.

"Your Magic is useless at close-range, I’ve got you!" He exclaimed as he raised his blade and whipped it across towards her.

She let out a sigh before swiftly catching the blade with her right hand, her opponent’s eyes widening in horror.

"N-no, impossible...!"

"Very possible, actually, thanks to how weak, clumsy and unrefined your swings are. Also, let me correct you...my Magic is far from useless at close-range," She smirked, before striking the middle of the face of his blade with her left fist as she charged explosive energy into it, an intense explosion bursting out upon impact before getting magnified by the effect of her gauntlets, shattering the bade to pieces.

The man gasped in pain as he dropped his broken sword, which hit the ground with a clatter, the impact of Celia’s punch having severely jarred his arms.

She then drew back her right fist and took a swift step in towards him, charging explosive energy into her fist as she locked onto to him and began to drive her arm forward.

"N-no, wait-...!" He began to cry out, before he was cut off as her fist slammed onto the middle of his torso, a fierce explosion bursting out upon impact and blasting his body apart to several pieces, streaks of blood flying out and splattering across the dirt as the severed chunks of his body hit the ground with soft thuds, puffs of dust rising up around them.

"Oh, nice, looks like all the ones who can fly have been taken down," Remarked Celia as she glanced up, a fiery flash of purple bursting out as Raven scorched his opponent to ash, having eliminated all the members of Exalt capable of flying.

He then surveyed the area below, before rapidly swooping down towards a few of the Exalt members who were grouped up.

They began to scramble away in terror as they spotted him barreling down towards them, before crying out as he landed in between them and unleashed a blazing eruption of purple flames, severely burning them before he fired out his beams at one of them, shooting through her heart before rapidly chasing after another of them.

As his target hit the ground and skidded back, he desperately tried to scramble back onto his feet, before stiffening in terror as Raven closed in on him and whipped his arm across as he extended out his claws, slitting the man’s throat and eliciting a choked, agonized wheeze from him as blood streamed out of the deep gash across his neck.

"Not gonna lie, it’s kinda unsettling how easy this is turning out to be. I mean, like...is this really it? Is this all they’ve got? I feel like any one of us could’ve solo’d this battle, all of us coming here is seriously starting to seem like overkill," Raven thought to himself in bemusement.
