Alpha's mate is a male?!?-Chapter 138: Finding the baby.
Chapter 138: Finding the baby.
Rey picks up the phone, pressing it to his ear.
Before he can even say hello, Kieran’s voice comes through, tense and clipped.
"Can you guys come over immediately? We have a problem."
And just like that, the call ends.
Rey pulls the phone away from his ear, frowning as he stares at the screen.
"What is it?" Jun asks, his voice still a little hoarse from their previous conversation.
Rey exhales, shoving the phone into his pocket. "He didn’t say much. Just that we have a problem." He looks at Jun, concern flickering in his eyes. "We should probably go."
Jun runs a hand down his face, exhaling sharply. "Problems never end. One after the other. When are they ever going to end?!" His frustration bleeds into his words, exhaustion evident.
Rey steps closer, cupping Jun’s cheeks, his thumbs gently brushing against his skin. "They will," he murmurs, his voice steady and reassuring. "Don’t worry. We’ll be fine. Let’s just hope it’s not that bad."
Then, without hesitation, he leans in and presses a soft, lingering kiss to Jun’s lips. It’s warm, grounding, and filled with silent reassurance.
When he pulls away, Jun sighs but nods. "Alright. Let’s go then."
Rey takes Jun’s hand, intertwining their fingers as they walk out of the office. He locks the door behind them before heading toward the reception desk, where Jun’s secretary is busy organizing some paperwork.
"Let the COO know Jun won’t be around," Rey tells her. "He’ll need to handle everything for now."
The secretary looks up and nods quickly. "Understood."
With that, they head out, making their way to the pack house.
By the time they arrive, a heavy feeling settles in their chests.
The door to Kieran’s study swings open, and Rey steps in, side by side with Jun. Both of them look tense, sensing the heavy atmosphere in the room.
Rey’s sharp gaze sweeps over everyone
,Ace, Kieran, Marsel, and Elira.
Jun glances between them, his exhausted expression replaced by quiet concern. "What’s going on?"
"You are making me really worried. What’s the problem now?" Rey asks, walking in further.
Kieran doesn’t answer immediately. His jaw tightens, and for a moment, it looks like he’s trying to suppress the urge to lash out. His emotions are still raw from everything that just happened.
Ace exhales sharply, too drained to dance around the issue. He gets straight to the point. "The problem is that Rehan got a human pregnant."
Silence.
Jun blinks, his expression unreadable at first. "And?"
Kieran finally speaks, his voice low and laced with frustration. "And the baby will be a werewolf, duh," he growls. "A human raising a werewolf baby without knowing what it is? You think that won’t cause problems?"
Rey’s frustration spills over. "That man really wouldn’t rest until he made us run north, east, west, and south- even when he’s dead! What the hell was he thinking?!"
"Well, I don’t see the big deal here. We could just wait until she gives birth and then kidnap the baby or something," Jun says, leaning against the desk with his arms crossed. "How will they know we did it after all?"
Marsel sighs and shakes his head. "Well, that’s not hard to figure out. The problem isn’t just how to get the baby, it’s the pregnancy itself. A wolf growing in a human’s body will be ready to be born in three or four months, not nine. And it could kill the mother because the creature inside her will be taking almost everything from her body just to sustain itself."
Everyone stares in shock, except Elira, who remains eerily calm, because she knows all that.
"Then we really need to act fast," Rey says, tension tightening his muscles.
"Where is the mother?" Jun asks, standing up straight.
Ace exhales sharply, rubbing his temples. "That’s the problem. We have no idea. Rehan never told us before he fucking died."
Jun clicks his tongue. "Great. So we’re searching for a woman we don’t even have a name only?"
"Maybe we can ask Rehan’s Beta, he must know all these things, or at least he knows where Rehan used to spend time or the club he claims he met the woman!" Kieran says. "I doubt he wouldn’t know all these."
Ace nods. "He’s around here, right?"
"Yeah, he have to," Kieran confirms. He turns to Rey, asking him to get the man.
Rey just calls someone, and later Jack knocks on the door, when he’s allowed to enter, he stands in front of them.
"Alpha," he calls his head lowered.
Kieran doesn’t waste time. "We need to know if Rehan ever mentioned anything about a human woman he was involved with."
The Beta is silent for a moment before answering carefully. "Rehan was... private about those things. But I do remember him disappearing for days at a time. He always returned acting strange, like he was hiding something."
"Do you know where he was going?" Kieran asks.
"Not exactly, he never wanted his privacy to be invaded, and I did want to get involved with him so much, so I never followed him up."
Kieran sighs heavily, disappointment rolling in him. He dismisses Jack.
Jun sighs heavily, rubbing his neck. "I swear, if Rehan were still alive, I’d kill him myself."
Ace can’t help a smirk, he knows Jun is just rumbling because he would never kill, "I doubt that."
"Oh yeah?!" Jun asks looking at him.
"Hell yeah!" Ace answers.
They hold a glance for a moment as if trying to communicate about their unsolved conflict, but they don’t have time as Elira’s voice bring them back to reality.
"So now we really have to think, we have to do whatever it takes to find her, we have to, I don’t know how but we need to think."
The weight of the situation settles over them, the tension in the room thick enough to choke on.
Marsel nods, his brow furrowed. "We can’t just wait around. Am very sure that baby is growing at an usual speed, and that only will be raising the brows of those humans, of course they will know that, that baby inside that womb is not normal, that’s where we will come in, that’s where our problem starts. So now we really have to find a solution real fast."
"But where do we even start?" Rey asks, frustration creeping into his tone. " If Rehan was that secretive as hell then where can we even get a link? If he hid this from his own Beta, it means he didn’t want anyone knowing about her."
"We could search the places he used to visit," Jun suggests. "He must have had a pattern. Somewhere he went regularly. Oh God! That man is driving me crazy, if only we could resurrect him and Make him deal with the shit he caused!"
Elira can’t help but chuckle at Jun’s words, so does Ace and Rey.
"You know, that could help, I mean, there must be places he’s known for going." Rey adds.
Kieran scoffs. "If he didn’t want people to know about that then I don’t think he would make it obvious."
"Then what?" Ace snaps, his patience thinning. "Are we supposed to just sit here while things accelerate on the other side?"
Everyone falls silent, the weight of the unknown pressing down on them.
Elira leans forward, her gaze sharp. "Them I guess we will have to go in all the clubs in the city."
Jun exhales sharply, running a hand through his hair. "That? No way, what if she was there once? And even if she will be there, how will we know that It is her?"
Marsel shakes his head. "Then maybe Ace you can use your powers to see if it can lead you there. Ugh! On the second thought that won’t work, you have to have some connection to that woman somehow for them to work."
"What now?! Or we should just wait and keep our ears wide open for any unusual news in the city, that’s when we will know where she is." Jun says.
For a moment Ace agrees with him, even as he thinks harder.
Frustration fills the air as they throw out suggestions, only to find flaws in each one.
"Jun, your suggestion could be effective, but we cant wait for chaos to escalate, that will be really risky. We need something that we will use right now," Elira says, her voice calm but firm.
For a moment, no one speaks. The silence stretches until Ace suddenly blurts out, "Rika!"
Everyone turns to him.
"Rika and her people are powerful witches, right?" Ace continues, his eyes lighting up with sudden realization. "They’re witches, and for that reason, maybe she can do some magic to find the woman!"
The room shifts. A spark of hope flickers in their eyes as they process his words.
Rey nods, the tension easing just a little. "That... could actually work."
Marsel exhales, the air in the room feeling a little lighter. "Then we have no time to waste. We need to find Rika."
Everyone nods, a plan finally forming.
