Accidentally Yours, Mr. Stranger-Chapter 68: Collapsed
Chapter 68: Collapsed
Sienna sprang to her feet, her eyes widening in shock. But the next instant, she felt the entire world spin, and her phone dropped to the floor instantly. Her legs lost all strength, and her eyes rolled back, her mind turning fuzzy. Her body leaned forward as she collapsed.
Before she suffered a nasty fall, Kyrell came to her rescue and caught her. However, by then, Sienna had fainted, her face devoid of color.
"Miss Lawrence," Kyrell knelt as he held Sienna in his arms. Panic and worry consumed him as he noticed how lifeless she looked at that moment. "Miss Lawrence, can you hear me?" He patted her cheeks lightly to wake her up. But there was no response from her.
"Miss," Frank shouted in fright when he saw Sienna drop, and he rushed to hold her. His eyes quivered, his heart jumping out of his chest.
"Xavier, get me a glass of water," Kyrell ordered before rubbing Sienna’s palms, which were as cold as ice.
Xavier was quick. He returned with a glass of water immediately, and Frank sprinkled a few droplets on her face.
But it had no effect on Sienna. She remained unconscious. Her state terrified everyone, and Kyrell picked her up immediately, cradling her in his arms.
"Xavier, drive the car. Let’s go to the hospital."
Xavier sprinted out of the house while the other followed behind. Kyrell got into the back seat while Frank took the shotgun.
"I’ll stay here," Isaac said, noticing that the estate would be unguarded if everybody left.
"I’ll go then." Amy nodded and took one of the other cars as she followed the car in front.
"Miss Lawrence, please wake up," Kyrell continued to pat her cheeks and rub her palms. He even removed her heels and started rubbing her feet. Her entire body was freezing, and her face resembled a corpse.
"Miss, please say something," Frank begged, turning around until he was facing an unconscious Sienna.
"Xavier, how long?"
"Another ten minutes." Xavier tried his best to drive as fast as he could. Although the traffic was mild, he still caught two red signals, which he jumped.
"Sienna, are you there? Can you hear me?" Kyrell held her palms and breathed some hot air onto them to warm her up. "Sienna, damn it, say something. Don’t be like this."
Kyrell’s voice trembled as he pleaded with her to wake up. His heart was beating at an unbearable pace, and his mind was battling not to imagine anything terrible. He couldn’t go there, not her. He couldn’t lose her.
For the second time in his life, Kyrell understood what fear was. He wasn’t afraid when he joined the army. He wasn’t scared when he faced dangers almost every day of his life. He hadn’t been afraid even when he had been shot in his abdomen in the past, nor when his stomach had been pierced with a knife.
But now, he was terrified. It was the second time in his life, the first being when Sienna had met with an accident. He was afraid to lose her, the first person who had entered his life and showered him with affection when he had no one to call his family.
The car halted in front of the hospital with a screech, gaining everyone’s attention immediately. People stopped in their places to see what the commotion was all about.
Kyrell didn’t even wait. The moment Frank opened the door for him, he ran out with Sienna.
"Doctor, Doctor," he shouted at the top of his voice. His voice was so loud that it frightened a lot of people. But he didn’t give a damn about it and rushed inside with Frank and Xavier right in tow.
Fortunately for them, one of the doctors was right by the reception, and she rushed to cater to them immediately.
"Doctor, please take a look. She fainted suddenly and hasn’t woken up since," Kyrell informed as he ran beside her, not waiting for the gurney.
The doctor had no idea what had happened to Sienna. But she didn’t dare neglect her and escorted them to one of the empty wards.
"Please place her on the bed. Let me take a look," the woman said, adjusting the bed, and Kyrell did as he was asked.
The doctor got to work immediately and checked Sienna’s vitals. By then, her body had gained some warmth. However, she was still unconscious.
"Did something happen for the lady to pass out suddenly? The woman asked with a frown and loosened Sienna’s shirt, allowing her to get some air.
"She was on the phone, Doctor. And suddenly, she collapsed," Kyrell informed, his eyes not leaving Sienna even once. He was scared out of his mind, and all he wanted was for her to wake up.
"Her heartbeat is awfully low and her blood pressure...." The woman studied the sphygmomanometer before saying, "It is lower than normal. I am presuming it’s vasovagal syncope."
"Vasovagal syncope?" Kyrell frowned in confusion. He was hearing about the condition for the first time.
"Yes. She must have been in extreme shock, and her brain couldn’t handle it. Due to the lack of oxygen, her body collapsed. How long was she unconscious for?" The doctor asked, pressing a button by the bed.
"Almost fifteen minutes," Frank replied, his hands quivering in fright.
"That shouldn’t have been the case. She should have gained consciousness within a few minutes after she fainted."
Kyrell’s heart skipped a beat on seeing the doctor’s grave expression.
"I’ll have to perform some tests on her. Can you tell me about her health conditions?" she asked no one in particular.
"Miss had an accident a week ago, and her head was injured," Frank answered, without hiding any details.
"That could be the reason for her not to have gained consciousness yet."
Two nurses hurried inside, and the doctor instructed them to take Sienna for a few tests.
"I’ll need the medical reports related to her accident."
"I’ll get them, Doctor." Frank turned to Kyrell, who still hadn’t moved his gaze away from Sienna.
"Mr. Winchester, I..."
"I’ll stay here."
Kyrell wouldn’t leave Sienna’s side at any cost. Until she was alright and gained consciousness, he was determined not to budge from her side.
"Thanks. I’ll be back soon." Frank bolted out of the ward like the wind, shocking everyone on his way.
Even the other members of the Cheetah Corps were surprised to see how agile and quick the man was for his age.
Meanwhile, the nurses handled Sienna’s tests while Kyrell waited for her. He couldn’t calm down whatsoever, his body breaking into a cold sweat every time he recalled Sienna’s pale face.
"Ky," Xavier placed his hand on his friend’s shoulder, his expression solemn yet affirmative. "Miss Lawrence, will be alright. Don’t worry."
Kyrell didn’t reply. He continued waiting for her outside the Radiology lab.
"What could Mr. Curtis have said for Miss Lawrence to have reacted drastically?" Xavier mused, his curiosity mildly piqued. "Should we inform Mr. Curtis about Miss Lawrence?"
Again, Kyrell remained silent. He wasn’t bothered about anyone. All he had in mind was Sienna’s well-being. He just wanted her to wake up as soon as possible.
Xavier sighed defeatedly when he noticed his attempts to distract Kyrell weren’t working. The man stood outside the Radiology lab, waiting for Sienna silently, disregarding everything else, even himself.
Shaking his head, he returned to Isaac and Amy, who were standing some distance away.
"I feel so stressed," Amy said suddenly. "Miss Lawrence is already going through a lot. Hasn’t she suffered enough? Why is her fate so cruel?"
"Amy..." Isaac didn’t know how to console the woman. After serving in the army for years and then joining the Cheetah Corps, which was the best paramilitary force and security agency in the country, he had stoned his heart, and nothing could affect him. He was tough, resilient, and apathetic.
However, after witnessing all that Sienna was going through, he too was sympathetic and concerned. How much could she bear? Her body couldn’t withstand all the trauma she was going through. Her life was all dark clouds and rainstorms. She really needed some sunshine and warm springs.
Frank was quick. Even before Sienna’s tests were done, he returned with the reports and handed them to the doctor, who studied them silently.
"I see that Miss Lawrence was discharged even before her injuries healed," she stated, and Frank nodded with his lips pursed.
Sienna hadn’t listened to his advice and remained adamant. Since he couldn’t persuade her, she was discharged from the hospital before she recovered completely.
"And considering her situation, she must have been under immense stress," the doctor said, giving Frank a knowing look.
The doctor wasn’t naive. She knew who Sienna was and the tragedy her family had faced. It was, after all, the talk of the country. No wonder her body shut down. She was overworking herself, and coupled with her past injuries, her body couldn’t sustain any more. The shocking news had only served as a catalyst for her body to give up.
"Doctor, is her condition serious?" Frank asked, dreading her answer. He held his breath, crossing his fingers hopefully.
"We’ll have to wait for the reports to be accurate. But her condition shouldn’t be that serious. Her vitals are all normal except for a slow heartbeat. She’ll be fine soon. It’s just her body collapsed because she wasn’t resting well." The doctor looked at them assuringly. "She’ll wake up once she has rested well."
"Thank you, Doctor."
The doctor nodded before proceeding with the next set of tests while the others waited outside the room.
Kyrell’s phone buzzed, the familiar ringtone hitting his ears. But he remained motionless as he continued to look at the Radiology lab.
His phone went silent for a few seconds before buzzing again, and this time, he answered it, not looking at who was calling him.
"Hello?" His voice was hoarse and heavy with anxiety.
"Hello, Kyrell. It’s me, Axel."
