Accidentally Yours, Mr. Stranger-Chapter 58: Grandaunt makes a call
Chapter 58: Grandaunt makes a call
When Sienna returned home, the four remaining people from the Cheetah Corps welcomed her warmly. It didn’t feel like she was returning to her cold, desolate place anymore.
Although she previously had Frank and the other servants at the Lawrence, except Frank, nobody was close to her. So, she felt lonely and alienated.
But strangely, the people she had met only a few hours ago had managed to curb her loneliness and make her feel better and Sienna couldn’t stop smiling.
Surprised, she looked around and found that dinner was already prepared and the aroma wafted to her until she was almost drooling. She had eaten her fill during lunch. Yet, she could not help but feel famished.
"Did you guys cook?" she asked in surprise. It had to be one of them for Frank wasn’t an excellent chef. He could manage a few simple dishes, but never something that smelled so exotic. It had always been Agnes who cooked for her family.
"Gary, here, is an excellent chef. And he quite wanted to test the appliances at your home. You see, Miss Lawrence, they are better than what he is usually accustomed to," Isaac replied, smirking at the man who suddenly looked embarrassed.
Having nothing much to do the entire day, Gary had experimented in the kitchen, after seeking Frank’s permission. Just as Isaac mentioned, some of the appliances were top-notch and he was excited to test them out.
"That’s amazing. I can’t wait to taste his food." Sienna really wanted to start eating. But it had to wait, for her phone rang, interrupting their warm conversation. free𝑤ebnovel.com
Sienna frowned when she saw the unfamiliar number. Confused, she picked up the call, only to hear a man roar from the other side.
"Sienna, you bitch. How dare you ban me!"
Sienna was speechless. Not just her, even Kyrell who was behind her and heard the unruly words leak out from her phone was speechless.
Who is this lunatic? Why is he shouting at Miss Lawrence?
"May I know who are you?" Sienna asked calmly, interrupting the man before he continued barking. She knew who it was. But she didn’t give him any face and spoke to him as if he were a stranger.
Too tired to hold her phone by her ear and with the wish to protect them from more assaults, she turned on the loudspeaker and placed the phone on the table, allowing everyone to listen to their conversation.
"Rupert Nelson. I’m your Uncle," the man said with such authority as if he was expecting Sienna to turn meek and obedient just because he was her elder.
"What uncle? I don’t have any uncle. I don’t remember my parents having any brothers," she retorted, much to her audience’s amusement.
While Kyrell and Amy were used to her by now, the others weren’t and they were in awe to see her show the barking man his place with such poise and grace.
"Sienna, don’t go too far. You don’t know who you’re dealing with."
Sienna’s eyelids jumped when he heard his threat. "Oh, do enlighten me who I am dealing with. You see, I have been unlucky to have encountered quite a few mad dogs. I just want to be sure I don’t run into them again."
While Amy and Kelsey laughed silently, the men were surprised by her sharp remarks and their lips stretched into a satisfied smile. Even Kyle, who was usually indifferent and had a poker face couldn’t stop the edges of his lips from arching up.
Sienna was one formidable lady. She sure knew how to kill someone with just a few insulting words.
"Who did you call a mad dog?" Rupert was hopping mad. He was already vexed at having been brought to the police station. Now, Sienna’s words only added fuel to his anger.
"Umm... do you want me to tell you explicitly?"
"Sienna," Rupert shouted again and Sienna rolled her eyes. She didn’t actually want to speak to him. But she had to know what was happening with them. So, she continued to entertain the stupid man.
"Take back the police complaint right now," Rupert ordered as if it was his right and Sienna must listen to him at all costs.
"And why would I do that?" Sienna didn’t know how the man managed his company without getting swallowed all these years. His wasn’t just stupid, he was outright brainless. How did he even survive all these years?
"Sienna, don’t forget who I am. You don’t want to disrespect your grandaunt, do you?"
"Grandaunt, who is that? And why should I respect her?" Sienna wasn’t asking merely. The woman was a nobody to her. The day the woman had shunned her grandfather when he needed her the most, was the she was dead to her family.
Grandaunt? Is she even worthy?
"Sienna." This time, the voice belonged to a female and it was filled with rage and command as if Sienna had to listen to her.
"And who am I talking to?" Sienna became alert now. Rupert was nothing. His wife wasn’t smart while his daughter- she wasn’t even worthy of her time. It was this woman, Rupert’s mother, she had to be wary about.
The people around Sienna noticed the change in her expression and became alert at once. Until then, they were listening to a mad dog bark. Now, it was someone they really had to be careful about.
"I’m your grandaunt." The woman introduced herself patiently.
"I don’t remember having a grandaunt." Sienna’s reply was instant.
"Sienna, your grandfather would be ashamed of you. Is this how you treat your elders?" the woman admonished, bringing her brother into the conversation to put Sienna in her place.
Sienna’s gaze narrowed until they were practically radiating fire and she stared at her phone, envisioning herself crawling into it and strangling the woman who spoke about blood ties only after her grandfather became rich.
"You don’t have to worry about my grandfather. He’ll never be ashamed of me. In fact, he’ll be proud of what I did," Sienna replied with a smile. "It should be you, instead. You should be ashamed of what you did and how you treated your brother when he needed you the most. Huh, grandaunt? What a load of bullcrap!"
"Sienna," the woman warned her lowly.
"I guess the lesson I taught you wasn’t enough. Brace yourself then for what awaits you."
Sienna didn’t waste another moment on the unwanted people and ended the call instantly.
Taking deep breaths, she calmed her anger and looked at the people around her staring at her with twinkling eyes.
"Did I scare you all?"
"No, no, Miss Lawrence," Xavier replied on everyone’s behalf. "You were brilliant actually."
Sienna smiled helplessly before reverting to her serious self. "You may want to prepare yourselves. This grandaunt of mine isn’t easy to deal with. Things might become extremely messy."
"Not a problem, Miss Lawrence," Isaac pushed his sleeves as if he were ready to fight someone. "We know how to deal with all kinds of people. She might be in for a surprise."
Sienna didn’t comment. She didn’t know the woman well. So, she couldn’t decipher how powerful she was. It was better she prepared herself before she regretted it later.
