Accidentally Yours, Mr. Stranger-Chapter 47: Cheetah Corps on duty - Part 3
Chapter 47: Cheetah Corps on duty - Part 3
"Careful," Isaac shouted and pulled the woman who was about to collide with the elevator wall. His strong arm wrapped around her waist as he brought her towards him, preventing her from getting injured.
Esme felt her world spin. One moment, she was shoved back heavily and another moment, she was being forced forward. What was happening? Blinking her eyes wide, she stared at the man who was looking at her in concern.
"Are you alright, Lady?" Isaac asked worriedly. Cursing himself for not looking where he was going, he helped her to stand properly and moved a step back when he was sure she was alright.
"Oh...yeah. Sorry about that," Esme flashed him an apologetic smile.
"No, Lady. It was my fault. I should have been careful."
"But it was me. I wasn’t looking where I was going," Esme argued, not allowing the man to feel guilty.
Xavier, who had been observing their interaction with amusement, folded his hands and tilted his head. All he needed was some popcorn and cola. The movie was playing, a very romantic and exciting movie in which his friend, Isaac was the main lead.
Kyle remained impassive. He was neither thrilled nor interested in what Isaac was up to. He remained silent, waiting for them to resolve who was at fault.
"Fine, fine. Let’s take it that we both are at fault and very apologetic about it," Esme relented first and Isaac nodded, going ahead with her suggestion this time.
"Are you alright?" he asked, ensuring she wasn’t injured. He knew how powerful the push had been. If he hadn’t held her in time, she could have been seriously injured.
"I’m fine. Thank you for saving me."
’How sweet!’ Xavier thought, grinning like a proud parent. He didn’t realize how stupid he looked at that moment.
’Why is Xavier smiling like an idiot?’ Kyle wondered, his brows narrowing into a barely noticeable frown. ’Did he lose his screw somewhere? Has he become a retard?’
"Are you new here? I haven’t seen you before," Esme asked, looking at the three men one by one. When she saw Xavier she was taken aback for a moment. He was smiling at her widely while he stared at her weirdly.
’Why is smiling at me like that? Is there something on my face?’ Esme subconsciously patted her cheeks, awkwardly trying to erase any blemish on her face.
"We’re Miss Lawrence’s new security," Isaac informed and glanced at Xavier when he noticed the woman staring at his friend strangely. He was taken aback when he saw how peculiar Xavier’s gaze was.
’What the hell is wrong with him? Is his madness acting up again?’ he wondered, darting a quick scowl at him.
"Ahh..." Esme didn’t know anything about the last night’s attack. The matter was concealed from the public. Not suspecting anything, she stretched her hand. "I’m Esme, Miss Lawrence’s assistant."
"I’m Isaac. This is Xavier and Kyle." Isaac took the lead and introduced his friends to her.
"Well, it was nice to meet you all. I’ve got to go now. See you around."
"See you, Miss. Have a good day." Isaac stepped aside, clearing the path for her and Esme smiled at him gratefully before she separated from the group.
Isaac waited until Esme was out of sight before focusing on his mad friend. "What is wrong with you?"
"What’s wrong with me?" Xavier asked back, his smile faltering immediately.
"How will I know? You should say. You were the one smiling like a lunatic." Isaac shot back and entered the elevator.
"Hey, I was smiling in happiness alright," Xavier replied, entering the elevator after him.
"And why were you happy?"
"To see the iron tree finally blossoming...oh wait, that would be when Kyle falls in love. Fuck it! I was just happy," Xavier said, smiling at him like a proud father again.
"You have gone crazy," Isaac mumbled, not understanding what the man was up to now.
Xavier wasn’t annoyed at being called crazy. He was crazy alright. What was the need to be normal and ordinary when the world was filled with them? It was better to be unique with a pinch of craziness. The world needed more people like him.
"So, what do you think?" he questioned, his eyes flashing with a curious glint.
"What are you talking about now?" Isaac couldn’t fathom what was running in Xavier’s mind. The man was like a kaleidoscope. He could change thoughts quicker than anyone could comprehend.
"About the lady you just spoke to."
"What about her?" Isaac’s frown deepened and he glanced at his friend in confusion. By now, they had reached the ground floor, and they started examining the place, memorizing the layout slowly.
"Do you want to ask her out?"
’Not again,’ Isaac thought, feeling vexed. Will Xavier ever stop speaking about it? Why was the man so concerned about his love life?
Isaac was about to humor him with a sarcastic reply when a commotion at the reception caught their attention. There seemed to be an argument of some sort.
Glancing at each other, they made their way forward, curious to discover what was happening. The closer they got, the louder the quarrel became and they heard a woman scream, hurling profanities without mercy.
Kyle felt his ears bleed when he heard the cuss words. Who had forgotten to brush their teeth and sanitize their mouth before leaving their dwelling?
"Who does she think she is? She is just an adopted daughter."
They heard a woman shout. Her deranged eyes were blazing with arrogance as she stared at everyone as if they weren’t even worthy of breathing the same air as her. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
None of the three men had a good impression of her. The woman seemed like a mad dog, ready to bite anyone who came in her path.
"Miss Nelson, please leave. Miss Lawrence is busy." The receptionist remained polite. But the anger in her tone was impossible to conceal.
"You... How dare you! Do you know who I am? How dare a lowly employee like you behave atrociously?"
"Miss Nelson, I’m being polite here. Please don’t force me to call security," the receptionist warned. She had already received instructions not to allow anyone from the Nelson family to enter the company.
"You..." Celia glared at her hatefully. "You’re fired. Pack your things and get lost."
The receptionist rolled her in dismay. Not just her, but the other people too looked at the mad woman in disgust.
"And who do you think you are to fire people in my company?" A powerful voice boomed, stunning everyone until they froze in their places.
