Chapter 36: Master strike - Part 2

Kyrell understood what Sienna was trying to imply, and his heart shook with fear. Her analysis made sense. Otherwise, why would someone use such a stupid plan? Wasn’t it to create a diversion, to make him leave the Lawrence Estate?

"Luther, we have to leave now. Miss Lawrence’s butler and servants are in danger," Kyrell instructed as he helped Sienna up. But the woman had no strength in her legs. He didn’t waste time and picked her up, carrying her swiftly out of the police station.

Officer Jenkins lost his smile as he ordered his men to follow him while he looked for help from the policemen who might be near the Lawrence Estate.

Kyrell carried Sienna to the car and helped her inside. Seeing her still frozen in shock, he buckled her seat belt and took the driver’s seat. Not bothering to check if his friend was behind him, he started the car and drove away.

"Please be alright. Please be alright," Sienna started mumbling, clutching her seatbelt tight. Her body had turned cold and she trembled ever so slightly, the trepidation of what lay ahead getting to her. All she wanted was for her people to be safe.

It took Kyrell no more than twenty minutes to reach the Lawrence Estate and an ominous feeling settled in when he noticed the guards at the entrance gate missing. The estate was clouded in darkness, unlike how it had been when they had left.

Sienna’s eyes widened in horror when she saw the situation and her fear heightened. The scene was more terrifying than she had thought.

"Miss Lawrence, stay behind me," Kyrell ordered as he left the car first with Sienna following suit. She didn’t defy him and stood right behind him as they approached the gates that were wide open.

Kyrell pulled out his gun and unlocked it, ready to shoot anyone who he deemed to be a threat to Sienna. His eyes were vigilant and sharp as he ran his eyes around like a hawk.

The estate was silent. An eerie air surrounded it as if saying ’Death was imminent’. It seemed like a haunted house that had chilling tales to tell. Any moment, something terrible would happen and they wouldn’t be able to escape it.

Sienna was a step behind Kyrell. Her eyes were fixed ahead, so she didn’t see where she was going. In her fear, she tripped over something.

Sienna gasped when she saw one of the guards lying on the ground. She couldn’t see much, but it sure seemed like he was shot.

"Miss Lawrence, call 911," Kyrell instructed and Sienna did as she was told. Even though she was frightened out of her wits and her hands kept trembling, she remained strong. It wasn’t the time for her to crumble. Her people needed her.

Thankfully for them, Luther and his team were right behind and arrived within a few minutes.

Kyrell stood behind, allowing Luther and his team to take over. But he didn’t dare let his guard down. Although he didn’t sense any threat around him, he continued to remain cautious.

Luther and his team entered the estate first. It was utterly dark inside and they had to use their phone torches to get through.

"The main switch must have been turned off," Sienna whispered, staying close to Kyrell. "Only Frank and a few senior servants know how to operate the main switch."

"Maybe they did it to hide from the perpetrators," Kyrell whispered back. "Miss Lawrence, do you know where the main switch is?"

"I can turn it on from my phone." Sienna was quick and she turned on the switch using her phone.

At once, the entire estate lit up. The sudden lights blinded them and they had to squint their eyes to look through.

They were yet to enter the house. But they saw a few guards lying injured on the ground. They had been shot as well.

Sienna’s face turned grim. Even Kyrell’s expression was solemn and they checked the guards one by one. Some of them were still alive and he helped them with the first aid, seeking assistance from Luther’s team.

It was even more chaotic inside the house. There were blood marks on the wall and the floor and Sienna’s fear morphed into fury when she realized the danger her people were in. She was filled with a mad killing intent, her eyes blazing with a strong murderous glint.

Some of the servants lay injured on the floor, no doubt from being shot. Thankfully, they weren’t dead. They could still be rescued.

Luther and his team handled the injured while they waited for the medical services. The ambulance arrived in a few minutes and all the wounded servants and guards were shifted to the hospital without delay.

Meanwhile, Kyrell looked around. But there were no signs of Frank. He wanted to search more but stopped short when Luther shook his head.

"Let my men handle this first," he said, signaling his team to search the entire estate. He didn’t allow Sienna and Kyrell to leave his sight until the entire place had been checked.

But there were no signs of Frank or the perpetrators.

Sienna’s eyes fell on one of the dead men in the living room and her brows contorted in confusion. She didn’t remember seeing him ever.

"He doesn’t seem like he works here," Sienna said, pointing to the man and Kyrell’s eyes snapped towards the man instantly. His gaze narrowed when he saw an unfamiliar face.

Even though it was his first day working for Sienna, he had done his homework. He recognized all the people who worked at the Lawrence Estate and the man wasn’t one of them.

"Miss Lawrence, is there a secret hideout? Perhaps Frank and the other people are hiding somewhere?" Kyrell asked when they couldn’t find Frank for a long time. His phone wasn’t reachable either.

"Yes, yes. There is." Sienna’s eyes widened when she recalled the secret room. She had completely forgotten about it in her fright.

Sienna rushed towards the stairs, climbing two at a time. In her hurry, she missed a step and almost tripped, if not for Kyrell holding her in time.

"Careful, Miss Lawrence," he reminded her and stayed close while Sienna led them to her brother’s room.

Kyrell and Luther were surprised. It was an odd location for a secret room.

Sensing their strange gazes on her, Sienna smiled helplessly. "Travis wanted a secret room in his room. I thought it was stupid at first. But now..."

Since Kyrell had forbidden her to leave his side, she hadn’t checked the state of her house. Now that she did, she noticed how bloody the battle had been. There was blood everywhere, on the walls, and the floor and she dreaded to think what her people must have faced.

Travis’ room wasn’t any worse. In fact, it was in a more terrible state. It was as if an intense battle had taken place.

Sienna saw the few dead bodies on the floor and glared hard at him as if expecting her gaze to revive them so that she could kill them herself. "They don’t work here as well. Frank and the other guards must have killed them."

While Kyrell didn’t say anything, Luther barked off orders to his men, instructing them to call the forensics team.

Sienna pursed her lips as she approached the mirror. There wasn’t anything different about the mirror, except that it was unbelievably huge. It occupied more than half of the wall.

Kyrell was puzzled at first. But when Sienna placed her hands on the mirror, it immediately scanned her face and parted, leading them to a hidden door.

’What the hell!’ Kyrell had seen a lot of interesting things in his life. Only a few had managed to amaze him; they could be counted on his fingers. Now, this hidden door was one of them.

Even Luther was taken aback to see the high-tech door. It looked like a scene from a sci-fi movie. ’Ah, the life of the rich!’ he thought.

Sienna entered the secret pathway first. There was a metal door that had a fingerprint scanner. When she placed her thumb on it, the door opened immediately.

Sensing her presence, the lights behind the door lit up and Kyrell noticed the spiral staircase, similar to the one he had seen at the gym. The only difference was that it was wider and seemed to go on forever.

"Frank!" Sienna shouted as she marched forward to go down. But Kyrell stopped her immediately.

Shaking his head, he stood like a shield before her and took the lead.

"Frank, are you there?" Sienna shouted again.

"Miss Lawrence, where do the stairs lead to?" Luther asked from behind.

"There is a hidden room below. It’s almost as big as Travis’ room. The stairs lead us to the room as well as the garage."

"Is there a possibility for your people to have left the estate?"

"I doubt. This hidden place is almost impenetrable. Except for Frank, no one other than my family can access it. Travis got it designed by some of the best engineers in the world. It is the safest place to hide."

Luther was impressed. It might seem all fancy and expensive, but it worked when in danger, and that mattered the most.

"Frank!" Sienna shouted again when they reached the room. It was closed.

Kyrell saw the droplets of blood on the floor and they led to the room. "They are here," he said and knocked at the door lightly. "Frank," he shouted.

"Frank, it’s me, Sienna," Sienna yelled and waited. She didn’t open the directly lest she scared the people inside and they fired at her without thinking.

A few seconds later, the door opened and Sienna first saw Frank before her eyes fell on all the guards and servants huddled together in the room.
