Accidentally Yours, Mr. Stranger-Chapter 35: Master strike - Part 1
Chapter 35: Master strike - Part 1
Kyrell gave Luther a nod, impressed by his strict and firm bearing. The reporters needed someone like him. Otherwise, they’d never listen and continue to throw their weight around as if the world owed them.
Luther just smiled helplessly as they entered the police station together. "You’ll have to wait for some time. I don’t think the reporters will leave this soon."
"They’re a menace. They will wait for sure. After all, our car is still outside and Miss Lawrence is yet to leave." Kyrell turned to Sienna who was lost in thoughts. Her brows were knitted together as she chewed on her lower lip. Something was bothering her for sure. But he couldn’t quite decipher what had perturbed her now.
"Miss Lawrence, you may want to sit for some time. The reporters are still outside," Luther said, approaching the woman who was oblivious to everything around her.
Sienna had disregarded everyone as she stood by the wall, thinking time again what the actual plan could be. She didn’t know how she was attracting glances from the people around her. The men were especially captivated by her. Not only was she beautiful and rich, but she also had a commanding demeanor that easily lured everyone to her.
Sienna nodded and took one of the chairs while Kyrell sat on the chair beside her. Although he wanted to ask what had kept her mind occupied, he kept his questions to himself and turned to his friend instead.
"Any luck on finding the people who followed us today?"
"No. We tracked the vehicle that was following your car. But it was found abandoned on the outskirts of the city. I apologize for my inefficiency." Luther’s words were directed at Sienna. But the woman didn’t hear anything he said.
Luther darted a questioning look at Kyrell who shook his head in response.
The two men didn’t disturb her anymore. Instead, they continued to converse among themselves, talking about everything from Cheetah Corps to the Lawrence family’s murders. They even discussed the next steps to prevent any more disasters.
"What about Adam’s death? Received his reports yet?" Kyrell questioned when he recalled the bodyguard who had dropped dead in the Lawrence Estate.
"It’s poison. He was poisoned a few minutes before our arrival," Luther said, recalling that he had forgotten to intimate Sienna and Kyrell about this matter.
"Maybe whoever killed him knew that he’d succumb under pressure and blurt out the truth. He was killed before he revealed everything," Kyrell deduced and Luther nodded.
"Be careful, Kyrell. Miss Lawrence is in grave danger."
Kyrell pursed his lips, his heart feeling heavy all of a sudden. He didn’t have to be told. He had witnessed it. Sienna had no one to reply. Danger was encroaching on her from all sides.
The two men continued talking for some more time while Sienna sat still as if in a trance. All along, she remained silent, not once chiming into their conversation. It wasn’t until her phone vibrated that her chain of thoughts broke.
"Yes, Mr. Statham?" Sienna didn’t bother to step away and answered the call in the two men’s presence.
"Miss Lawrence, I called to inform you that I have sent legal notices to all the news channels that spread rumors about you."
"Good. Thank you for your hard work, Mr. Statham." Sienna was genuinely thankful. She hadn’t instructed him to do anything before he left the police station. But the man had acted on his own accord and had sued all the news channels on her behalf.
"Not a problem, Miss Lawrence. Please tell me if there is anything else."
"I will have to trouble you the next few days. I have some matters to discuss with you. I’ll meet you tomorrow."
"No trouble, Miss Lawrence. I’ll meet you tomorrow."
The call ended and Sienna sighed heavily. Rubbing her forehead, she pushed the few strands of her hair that had escaped her pony behind her ear.
Sienna looked tired and weak and Kyrell suddenly had the desire to hold her in his arms and tell her that everything would be alright. The storm shall pass soon and the peaceful days will return one day. But he remained still and flashed her an assuring smile when their eyes met.
"Shall we leave?" Sienna asked, feeling her head throb. She just wanted to return home and sleep. Even though she hadn’t eaten anything in more than five hours, her hunger had vanished. She just wanted to rest for some time.
"The reporters must be gone by now, Miss Lawrence. It’s safe now," Officer Jenkins informed and Sienna nodded.
"Thank you."
"Not a problem, Miss Lawrence. Anyway, with Kyrell here, you’ve nothing to worry about. He’ll protect you well."
Sienna smiled faintly, silently agreeing with him this time.
"He’s quite capable. He can handle ten to twelve men at once."
"Hey, you’re exaggerating it now," Kyrell argued, not noticing how Sienna’s expression had changed all of a sudden.
"What did you say just now?" Sienna asked, her tone filled with shock and trepidation.
Kyrell’s forehead creased with worry lines, not understanding what had riled her up all of a sudden.
Even Luther was taken aback to see her agitated.
"Officer Jenkins, what did you say just now?" Sienna repeated her question, hurrying him to reply to her.
"Umm.. Miss Lawrence, calm down. I only said that Kyrell could take down ten to twelve men at once," Luther teased, his tone turning playful.
"Is it true?" Sienna turned to Kyrell instead, looking for answers from me.
"Uhh... well..."
"Answer me, damn it. Is it true? Are you that capable?"
Kyrell was startled by her shout. Sienna had never behaved this way, not with him at least, and he didn’t know what to make out of it.
"Yes. I’m quite good, be it with weapons or combat skills. What’s wrong, Miss Lawrence?" Kyrell saw how pale Sienna’s face had become and he held her immediately when her legs buckled.
"Miss Lawrence!" He was flummoxed to see how sickly she looked all of a sudden. Even Luther was worried out of his mind and he stared at her in concern.
The other people in the police station too turned around, curious to see what was happening.
"I now understand everything," Sienna’s eyes welled up instantly and she broke into a cold sweat. "It wasn’t any trap for me. It..." Her chest moved heavily as she forced the words out. "It was a... a...plan to lure you out of the estate. Frank... Frank... he...his life is in danger."
