Chapter 31: Action-reaction

"Heh. Where did they get their guts from them?" Sienna sneered, her blood boiling in fury. "Looks like I had been lenient with them. I shouldn’t have allowed them to leave the police station."

Right at that moment, Kyrell’s phone rang, gaining everyone’s attention to him and he didn’t dawdle when he saw who was calling him.

"It’s Officer Jenkins," he informed and put the call on speaker.

"Kyrell, are you with Miss Lawrence?" the policeman asked worriedly and Kyrell glanced at Sienna immediately.

"Yes. What happened?"

"I’m here, Officer Jenkins. What’s wrong?" Sienna asked after getting a nod from Kyrell.

"Umm, Miss Lawrence... We have received a complaint from your grandfather’s sister’s family that it was you who planned the murder. We’ll have to bring you to the police station for investigation." Officer Jenkins informed and Sienna pursed her lips thoughtfully.

"I understand, Officer. I’ll cooperate with you." Sienna didn’t mind going to the police station at this time of the night. She was willing to cooperate with the investigation and clear her name once and for all.

"Thank you, Miss Lawrence. Thanks a lot." The policeman sighed, glad that she wasn’t being troublesome. Otherwise, he’d have to use to extreme measures to bring her to the police station.

"You don’t have to come here, Officer. I’ll be at the police station soon," Sienna conveyed her thoughts, surprising all the three men listening to her.

While nobody understood her intentions, they didn’t probe more and the call ended.

"Frank, I’ll be back soon. In the meantime, dig up all the information you can about them. It’s time for me to show them what I’m capable of," Sienna ordered as she climbed the stairs while Frank and Kyrell followed her silently.

"While you’re at it, investigate Dane as well," Sienna said, a bizarre thought springing into her mind.

"Do you think he’s involved in this matter, Miss?" Frank asked, wondering how Dane was even related to the mess the second branch had created. But he also understood that it wouldn’t be a surprise if he were actually involved, considering his relationship with Celia.

"You never know." Sienna didn’t clarify and Frank didn’t ask more.

The three people went on separate ways outside the gym.

By the time Sienna returned to the living room after changing her clothes, Kyrell was waiting for her.

"Mr. Winchester, let’s go."

"Miss Lawrence, you may want to be careful," Kyrell warned grimly. "It’s chaotic out there."

"Are the reporters here already?" Sienna’s brows shot up in a quick surprise.

Kyrell nodded pensively.

"The news sure spread fast. They are prepared well this time." Sienna smiled. But her smile was filled with malice and coldness and Kyrell’s lips thinned and his worry increased even more.

"Can we take the front gate?" Sienna turned to Frank who had just finished talking to the guards at the entrance gates.

"No, Miss. It’s chaotic out there."

"Fine. Let’s take the back gate." Sienna nodded, sending Frank a silent command.

Sienna led Kyrell to the garage, ditching the car they had used in the morning.

"Pick any key, Mr. Winchester. I’ll be back."

Leaving Kyrell to choose the car, Sienna pulled the lever that opened the garage door, leading to the back gate. Since they rarely used the door it remained locked most of the time.

If it were another time, Kyrell would have been floored by the cars in the garage. The collection was endless and some of them were customized and limited edition. But not right now.

The time wasn’t right and they were in a hurry to leave before the reporters got to them.

Kyrell chose a random car and Sienna took the seat beside him, surprising him for a moment. However, he was quick to gain hold of his senses and he swerved out of the garage, driving towards the back gate the guards had already opened for them.

Sienna glanced out the window, her face calm and unagitated. However, Kyrell was anything but calm. He couldn’t sit still and kept glancing at her every few seconds.

"If you have something to ask, please do, Mr. Winchester." Sienna finally averted her gaze away from the night view and stared at Kyrell who continued sneaking glances at her every few seconds.

"Miss Lawrence, are you alright?" He didn’t know why but he felt the woman wasn’t fine. There was something wrong with her. But he couldn’t comprehend what.

"Would you believe me if I say I am?" Sienna asked, smiling at him bleakly.

Kyrell remained silent. He didn’t believe her at all.

Sienna just laughed bitterly before averting her gaze away immediately. "Don’t worry, Mr. Winchster. I’m fine. Anyway, it’s time for the Lawrence Group’s legal team to show their might. Otherwise, I’d be paying them for nothing."

Kyrell didn’t comment and Sienna too went silent. However, the silence didn’t last for a long time.

Sienna’s phone started to ring relentlessly. From the shareholders to the top management in the company, everyone was calling her without giving her phone a break.

Frustrated, Sienna wanted to switch off her phone. But she thought otherwise when she recalled something.

Dialing Esme’s number, she tapped her fingers against her thighs, plotting her revenge on everyone who was out to destroy her.

"Miss Lawrence?" the woman answered on the second ring.

"Esme, prepare for a press conference tomorrow. I have an important announcement to make."

"Yes, Miss Lawrence. Also, I’ll be sending some documents in a while. You’ll know what to do once you see them."

"Yes, Miss Lawrence. Anything else?"

"Nothing. That’s all for now."

"Miss Lawrence?"

Sienna was just about to end the call when Esme stopped her.

"Yes, Esme?"

"I trust you."

Sienna didn’t reply and ended the call. But her lips curved up involuntarily and her eyes turned melancholic. Esme’s words had struck the depths of her heart and she withheld herself from crumbling. She didn’t dare drown herself in sad thoughts and called Simon next.

"Miss Lawrence, are you alright?" Simon asked the moment the call and Sienna’s smile returned to her face again.

"I’m fine, Mr. Brown. Don’t worry," Sienna assured him, the suffocation in her chest reducing to some extent. "I called you to ask if the Lawrence Group has invested in Rupert’s company."

Although Sienna didn’t intend to give the second branch any importance, they had troubled her in the last few days. And now, they were on her enemies list. Since they wanted to destroy themselves, who was she to stop them?

"Yes, Miss Lawrence. Lawrence Group has invested in Mr. Rupert Nelson’s company. It was your grandfather’s decision."

"Withdraw all investments. The Lawrence Group will not be investing in their company anymore."

"Yes, Miss Lawrence." Simon wasn’t surprised by her actions. He had expected it.

In fact, Simon was glad that Sienna was decisive and swift in this matter and didn’t let go of the people who deserved to be punished. She wasn’t soft-hearted by any means, proving again that she was entirely capable of taking over the Lawrence Group.

"And declare a ban on them. Anyone who works with them will not be working with Lawrence Group." Sienna dropped the bomb that would soon destroy a lot of people.

"It’s high time people understood what will happen if they cross my bottom line."
