Chapter 1459: Chapter 245 Nellie is a Fool
Chapter Two Hundred and Forty-Five: Nellie is a Fool
"Do you feel that the power under her control is growing stronger? Her soul is breaking free from your suppression and starting to fight against you again?" Pannis twirled the Hunting Arrow between his fingertips, squinting and smiling, "Do you feel that under her interference, your control over the body is waning and the energy required to summon Divine Power is increasingly high? If so, you’re right. What did you think I was doing, spending so much effort and biding my time with you for? Haha, I was waiting for this moment." frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"How did you do it?" Danacus asked emotionlessly, "How could there be such a significant change in such a short time?"
"You don’t know? You really don’t know?" Pannis raised an eyebrow, seemingly having confirmed something, and nodded thoughtfully, "I think I understand now."
"What do you understand?" Danacus asked impatiently, "How exactly did you manage to suddenly enhance her power?"
"Do you know? Nellie... she’s a fool. Though she has learned to make long-term plans, she remains a fool, and it’s hard to find anyone more foolish than her." Pannis spoke with a joyful smile, his gaze seemingly on Nellie’s body but appearing to see through her to the emptiness of the Divine Kingdom, "In her mind, besides battle and justice, there’s probably only eating and sleeping, hehe, and to think that I fell in love with such a woman, it’s really quite miraculous."
Danacus didn’t respond, only his lips twitching slightly, seemingly sad over having to use such a body.
"In the past years, to outsiders, she was an admirable powerhouse, a figure so perfect that people wanted to worship her, but only by entering her life could one know that her greatest skill was really making a mess of her living, leading a remarkably chaotic life. A simple example, she was foolish enough to wash the undershirt inside her armor in the morning and only after washing did she realize she had no replacement clothes; she had to wear the wet clothes on her body and wondered why it felt so uncomfortable all morning. Such was she, pitifully unbearable to watch, I even worried that if I were not by her side, she couldn’t even survive a month in the wild but would starve herself to death."
"What are you trying to say?" Danacus said sternly with a furrowed brow, "Do you still want to continue delaying?"
"No, no, no, there’s no need to delay any longer; the current state is sufficient. What I’ve been saying is simply explaining what I did." Pannis flicked his wrist, and energy extended from the handle of the Bow of Release, forming a complete bow. He aimlessly toyed with the Hunting Arrow on the bowstring of energy, speaking leisurely, "She has always been such a fool, both in life and even after temporarily assuming the divine duty of the god of death. You really wouldn’t believe it, but she didn’t know how to develop a church to gather followers for herself. My word, that’s a deity’s instinct, and yet she completely missed out on how to do it."
Danacus’s expression was somber as he remained silent, waiting for Pannis’s next words. No one knew what he was thinking at that moment.
"Actually, I’ve always found it odd, at least before I entered this world, I always found it strange." Pannis had no interest in knowing the other’s feelings, just continued, "That’s right, Danacus is a deity, Nellie is a mortal; the strength of their souls is completely different. Once the Soul of Danacus awakened, it wasn’t surprising that Nellie’s soul would gradually lose control over the Divine Body, but the speed shouldn’t have been so fast. It’s unreasonable."
"The strong suppress the weak; that’s the essence of a soul struggle." Danacus gritted his teeth and said, "What’s unreasonable about that?"
"Right, the strong suppressing the weak is an inevitable result, but the gap between the two souls shouldn’t have been so large that Nellie collapsed so quickly," Pannis said, raising his index finger in front of him and shaking it gently. "This matter is very strange. Although Nellie faced the Soul of a chief deity, it was a foreign one, almost bereft of all followers and just awakened from slumber, while she was in her own body, had millions of undead believers, and millions of conscious undead enhancing her Soul Power, having prepared for the soul battle decades in advance. To a large extent, this should have effectively narrowed the gap in power between the two souls. Even given more time, she might have had a chance to confront it head-on. How could she have collapsed so fully, so quickly? However, as I gradually delved deeper into this world, I slowly understood the reasons."
"What reasons?" Danacus couldn’t help asking: "Is it related to this world?"
"If I must say, it’s not entirely off the mark, but actually, it mainly has to do with people." Pannis sighed, rubbing his temples and said, "Ah, Nellie is a fool, Finche is a fool, Luscia is a fool, even Saen and Shiela, those two from the Mythical Age, are all fools. So many people together, and yet they couldn’t figure out how to help Nellie establish a church or how to gather followers for her. Despite the undead’s devout faith in Nellie, because these people didn’t know what to do, a vast amount of the Power of Faith was simply wasted, scattered into the world, unutilized."
Danacus stopped talking, his eyes flickering, seemingly filled with unease.
"Actually, even if they didn’t know how to gather the Power of Faith, it wouldn’t matter; as long as the undead prayed sincerely, some of the Power of Faith would still be automatically absorbed by Nellie. She wouldn’t be as miserable as she is now," Pannis said helplessly. "But, Finche and Luscia, those fools, though well-intentioned, did the stupidest thing. It was indeed their actions that caused Nellie to lose her only chance to fight against the Divine Soul, leading her into complete collapse. Yes, the problem lies in that they built many Totem Columns, which are simply the most terrifying weapons, of course, against Nellie."
