Yarra's Adventure Notes-Chapter 1427 - 213: Planning the Future
Chapter 1427: Chapter 213: Planning the Future
"Nellie seemed to have foreseen this day from the beginning," Luscia said, her words carrying more weight than Finche’s since she had been by Nellie’s side for at least twice as long, witnessing all her actions," I remember at the dawn of the Third Epoch, when Deities created living creatures; it took hundreds or even close to a thousand years to complete. But Nellie was always saying she had no time, and she worked hard to compress this process into mere decades. Of course, she wasn’t creating a race out of thin air but rather using her will to modify existing Undead. Sometimes, altering a fully formed race isn’t simpler than creating them from scratch, especially since she wasn’t entirely a Deity, but a mortal who carried divinity within a human body and was forcibly granted the Authority of Laws. All her knowledge came from her own painstaking exploration. Moreover, over these decades, she didn’t just adjust the Undead; she was also transforming the entire Death World. Even the father Deity took seven whole years to create the Yarran World, so it’s unreasonable to compare her to him. But if you look outside, you may not understand, but we three who saw this world a hundred years ago do—we know how much it has changed. All this is what she accomplished in less than a few decades. Just imagine how urgent she must have been." ƒrēenovelkiss.com
"I understand," Pannis sighed deeply, his voice filled with despondency, "After all, the Soul of Danacus is still inside her body. Naturally, she knew that sooner or later, the Divine Soul would awaken and devour her will." It’s the same inevitability as this world being surrounded by the Undead. The moment she was infiltrated by the Divine Soul, her fate was sealed. She knew all of this, so she hoped to arrange everything for the future—not only to completely resolve the greatest crisis for all beings of the Yarran World but also to create a beautiful and peaceful future for the Undead. But no one knows when Danacus will wake up, nor does anyone know how long she can hold on after that. That’s why she needs to seize every second, treat each day as if it were her last. To you, that naturally seems very urgent."
"How did you know?" Luscia asked, her eyes widening in surprise. "She once said something similar to me when I was very tired and suggested that she sleep with me for a few months. Just like you said, she treated every day as if it were the last in her life. She told me she didn’t have much time left, so she had to do as much as possible, because who knew who would see the world the next day? If she couldn’t ensure that everything was in place, then all that she had done before would be pointless. But these were private conversations between us, which you couldn’t possibly know."
"But I do know, of course, I do," Pannis didn’t answer directly, instead just resting his chin on his hand and staring blankly at the far wall of the prayer hall. His gaze seemed to penetrate through the wall, through the barriers between worlds, untill he once again saw that knight with unwavering beliefs and a sense of duty. After a long gaze, Pannis finally spoke quietly, "We are one and the same, so naturally we know each other’s thoughts. Because she is Nellie, she would definitely think and act that way, and because I am Kyle, I would certainly understand, understand her thoughts."
"It’s always been Kyle and Nellie, hasn’t it, Luscia," Finche remarked with a sigh. "Many times, they have influenced each other. Lady Nellie, as people used to say, wouldn’t consider such far-reaching matters."
"You might as well just call her an idiot," Pannis retorted with a twist of his mouth, his voice sounding nonchalant even though it carried an undertone of bitterness, "The most forward-thinking she used to get was pondering what to have for breakfast while eating dinner, and even planning for the next day’s lunch seemed a daunting task for her."
"Ahem, Kyle, you’re exaggerating a bit there. Lady Nellie did indeed... We’ll, she wasn’t as far-sighted as you, but it wasn’t as bad as you describe," Finche chuckled awkwardly, defending Nellie, "Besides, it seems she learned quite a bit from you and made many changes. At least she developed such a grand and long-term plan over the years, and managed to implement it step by step. That used to be your job, didn’t it?"
"I’d rather she hadn’t changed," Pannis sighed, closing his eyes, "These burdens were never meant for her to carry."
"But she has taken them on," said Finche. "After the first step, Lady Nellie described many plans to me, including how to regulate the power of the Undead, so that living beings would find them threatening but not fatally so; how to improve the environment of the Realm of the Dead, enabling the Undead to provide resources needed by the living; how to guide both worlds to collide again, so they could start communicating; and how to get the living to gradually accept the presence of the Undead while ensuring the interests of both sides, allowing the Undead to integrate into the world of the living as soon as possible."
"Wait," Pannis raised his hand, interrupting Finche, "You just said something about guiding both worlds to collide again?"
"Is that so surprising?" Finche explained, "She’s said before, it’s an inevitable outcome. Apart from Lord Yarra, no other power, be it Deity or human, can do anything more than delay it, never prevent it. With that in mind, it’s better to let it happen in a controlled way. At least under her lead, things won’t head in the worst direction. Lady Nellie believes that if she’s gone when the two worlds collide, the destruction will be much worse, so she prefers to accelerate the communication and integration of both worlds while she’s still here."
"Well, maybe you’re right," Pannis said as he rubbed his chin, although he agreed outwardly, his eyes flickered with an uncertain thought that remained unknown to anyone else.
